Drove one of these in the spring. Very nice boat, but I really don't care for IPS drives. Feels way too lazy in how they react. Nice to know that you can actually get this boat with sterndrives.

Yes it's a totally different feel (and turning circle) to the sterndrives.

Yes. Other than the joystick docking which I don’t really care for either, I’m not sure why people like the IPS drives. They are not even trainable.
That boat would run so well with surface drives.

Impressive, indeed. Dan, how often do you find these major builders outside Europe and North America are building to the EU and/or ABYC codes? And Oz must have its own standards, as well. Their export markets would seem to require this for insurance benefits, but I'm only guessing. Thanks for the ride!

G'day Jack! So all the builders I saw in Brazil are actually German immigrants who came to Brazil after the war. So the feel is very European actually and they are building to all the same standards. CE is quite worldwide these days and Oz only has a few builders left so we are largler irrrelevant moving into the future due to the cost of labour - my guess if that Australia won't have any industry left pretty soon as the incentive to make anything there just doesn't exist anymore. I'd be keeping my eyes on Asia (China, Vietnam, Malaysia), Turkey, Poland and Brazil as the future places for interesting manufacturing. I may even get an opportunity to test some missile boats being built in Indonesia which will be facinating if that comes off.

@@BoatLife_DansBoatLife Thanks for all that, Dan....which is an insightful if troubling prediction. (And it seems Britain is not far behind Oz in this regard). As you know, USA has an amazingly long shore line, many large lakes and mostly agreeable weather. That along with its large population and the arrival of GRP in the 60's made it possible for a huge expansion in boat building here. Add tech, starting in the 80's, and things flourished even despite the explosion in petrochemical pricing. Build a few molds, hire some carpenters, train up some GRP workers, and start taking orders. But not so today. When we shopped for a powerboat last year, most of the new ones - altho' marketed by N European firms - were built in Poland. We bought a lightly used 'motorboat' built in our Northwest, one of the remaining pockets where a marine industry remains. Adding to the trends is the accelerating cost of boats and boating for the consumer. It seems at times like we are reverting to the 20's when boating was mostly a rich man's indulgence.

@@jacktyler7599 Hi Jack, yes I think it's just the state of affairs in the West now. When I look at my own home city you need minimum $300k salary just to buy a house so unless everyone wants to pay 30 times more for something made in Australia it seems more logical to make stuff in Asia and elsewhere. Thats why I left and moved to Malaysia actually. When you calculate your earnings vs tax and cost of housing it doesn't make sense to do business in Aus if you don't own a house so many of the young people who are building businesses are leaving now. I think while the west seems determined to drive its citizens into the dirt this is definitely not what I observe on my travel in SE Asia, Gulf Countries, Russia and South America where things are booming. It's like a completely different world and many of the builders I'm meeting are looking to the west for designers and experience but then they are adding their own local flavor plus way lower costs. So, in the long run we may end up with a more exciting boat world to enjoy... ! Poland as a example is already a boat building powerhouse and the future there looks pretty bright. Malaysia where I live the common man can actually live very comfortably and will the growing middle class should be able to buy boats soon if they discover the passion for it. So interesting times ahead!

These are available with all the Euro and US certifications needed. A friend of mine took delivery of one in northern Europe about 6 months ago and the NautiStyles couple did a walkthrough of one about a year ago, during the Fort Lauderdale boat show.
They are very European feeling boats, much more than many US boats I'd say. One thing which is odd, and perhaps a bit of a waste of space, is the tiny one person crew cabin on this boat. Granted people in south American looks a bit differently in how you treat and house the help, but still. I don't know anyone who crews who would ever accept that crew cabin.
