i have the same problem with my cr10s out of no where but after installing an new termistor it stil gives me the runaway error what else should i look at ?
I have been struggling with silk PLA for a bit now. Finally stared at my number while printing and inevitably got the thermal runaway error twice. I was so disheartened because I thought this would be a complicated fix. Turns out this looks really simple! Will edit with an update once I fix my problem! Thanks!
@@aquilaecompany OMG it was my damn thermistor! Old one fell apart in my hand while I was taking it off! I'm finally printing silk PLA without stringing! You're a lifesaver!
Such a cool video. Never really knew how 3d printers worked so this was very informative! Loving the variety of content and am really excited to see where this channel goes! 😊
Also the thermistor is put in the machine with thermal paste, like you would use to mount your cooler to your processor when building a PC. This paste dries out and becomes ineffective after about 1 1/2 - 2 years or so. Removing, cleaning and replacing the thermal paste is a maintenance item that will fix the problem. I was having an issue with inconsistent temps and thermal shutdowns (nozzle too cold) after about 1 1/2 years of owning my ender 3 v2 neo and replacing the paste fixed it perfectly.
Had this issue with my 3 Pro aswell. Didnt change the thermistor, just put a tiny bit of heat conducive paste in the hole where the thermistor sits to give it a better thermo coupling.
great instruction! I have a problem where it ~could be a bad thermistor so I’m replacing to rule it out and this was super helpful. I’m going to try to use the existing old thermistor wire to pull the new one through the bundle sleeve.
I'm probably doing this tomorrow. Intermittent thermal runaway on long prints became a hard fault. I think I will try cutting off the old plug on the motherboard side, taping the old wire to the new thermistor, and pulling it through the sheath with the old thermistor wire. Hopefully it works! Might need to cut some zip-ties, but if they are not too tight it should work.
Nice one. Had intermittent Thermal runaway errors. Replacement sort issue. But for odd reason I received short version of wire... But bit of soldering to old wire actually helped😂.
I had a thermal runaway error and I opened up the hotend, and the thermister was not even in the hole. Do you think this could have caused my issue? Do I need to still replace the thermister ?
So I was doing an hours long large print and at about 3/4 of the way through it the printer stopped and gave this error message - 'Thermal Runaway: Bed. Printer Halted. Please Reset.' Up to this point it was working just fine. I turned the printer off let it sit for a bit, turned it back on and resumed the print. and a few minutes later the same error message happened. I can still print small things as long as they pretty much stay in the center of the bed. The board in my printer is the Creality v4.2.7 The firmware is Marlin 2.0.6 Ender - 3.
Ever hear of the Ender 3 having a thermal runaway problem and then after it is shut down and back on again it just continues to endlessly send power to the heater even though the temperature is set to 0C. After having a problem on mine I restarted it several times, but every time it would heat up until it started smoking. I ended up having to manually turn the temperature down to 0C even though it was already set to 0C and should not have been on at all. I didn't tell it to print or to continue any print or anything like that. It showed that it should be set to 0C on the control panel (info), but regardless it just kept sending full power to the heater until I manually told it to cool down (set temperature to 0C, but I didn't use the "cool down" option, which may have worked also). The bed temperature did not do this though and it remained off, despite being on during the same print that failed.
Replased my whole hot end and sensors but its still doing it but im not having the exact problem my printer slowly loses like 10⁰ and then it gives me that warning of thermal runaway
I had the Thermal Runaway error on my CR-10s, found out that I forgot to put back the rubber nozzle cover. I put it back and it worked. I was printing using TPU filament.

Could you fill me in more on the error? Is the temperature reading -15? Is the error text "TEMP ERROR"? Is it for bed or extruder? Let me know, thanks!
Sounds like a textbook bad thermistor.@@martian7754 Usually the way to tell is if the temperature reading is either completely wrong or unstable (reads inconsistently) a thermistor replacement is in order. Let me know if I can help you at all!
You can't actually repair the thermostat as is but that will last you maybe 6 months before you have to do it again. That's why I'm just going to replace the whole thing. I'm barely even used mine and it went out or I can even print something because I was still trying to figure out how to use it. I finally got the filliment it and it happened when I was trying to do that and with the entire hot end because it was only like $15 And If I really wanted to I can pray to PETG but I'm just going to be using PLA mostly. I have no intent of using nylon unless I need something to be super heat resistant. I also do not have an enclosure

Thank you for making this video, for the longest time, didn’t know why my printer kept shutting down !

Always good to learn!
