    Just wanted to share my story of how I came to your channel. I started golfing last fall, and my cousin is a d1 golfer whom I asked for advice what to focus on and what is important. He told me the basics and referred to your channel, and said your the best yt golf teacher. You helped me out a ton progression wise, nice and simple tips easy to understand. Played my first tournament 2 days ago and shot a 91!

      I started golf 8-9 months ago I’m right there with you. I watch mainly porzak and Padraig Harrington. Both are exceptional. I haven’t played a tournament yet, but the last month or two, I’ve been consistently shooting in the high 80s (I do give myself breakfast balls on the first and 10th tee).

    Adam, thank you for the breakdown of your swing fixes. It finally made sense to me after lots of instructions. It has come full circle and am now hitting the ball in the dead center of the club and compressing better than before... also have gone from high 80's to high 70's.

    Adam, I have been messing around with pushing down on the handle in my takeaway. What a great move. I was doing it with my driver and I was hitting ball speeds in the low 180's w/a power fade. Never have I gotten there and I'm 54 years old. It's giving me a few extra yards w/ all my clubs and it is starting to feel normal now. I absolutely love this move as I always sucked the club inside as you show at :26. Thanks again for the great content.

    Went out and try this on the range worked out perfect The only problem I had it was trying to do this with my driver and it made me snap hook it so I had to go back to my old setup with the driver.... So what do you do in relation to what you're talking about with the driver?

      The set position is when the hands reach pocket high, and the club is fully set between the lead arm and club… that is the same for every club, but because of the width of stance between a wedge and a driver, there is a difference in the amount of time it takes to get there… that being said, a driver feels like a more subtle hinge, where as a wedge feels more immediate

    Hey coach, is this the same takeaway for driver?

  • @markf3229
    @markf3229 2 месяца назад

    I always tried many ways to perfect the backswing especially when I consider the downswing is the mere of the B/S. so when on the downswing and you reach the first part of the takeaway your wrists are still hinged and get the club head speed by unhinging quick as late as you can at the ball

  • @danielmartis999

  • @breakthrough8628

    Why not just have him turn w a 1 piece takeaway so the wrist hinge naturally occurs once the knees and waist are done turning at apx 45 degrees? Otherwise this manual wrist hinge method will tighten the forearms/wrists making it impossible to completely relax them during downswing. What do u think coach?

  • @jonathanedwards7350

    How about for a player who has a strong grip?

    • @drewspinoso4849
      @drewspinoso4849 2 месяца назад

      I think many people ditch the strong grip for irons and keep for driver.

    • @PorzakGolf
      @PorzakGolf  2 месяца назад +3

      for a player with a strong grip the same rules apply. Just make sure that toe is a little bit more up to the sky in the takeaway and the club face feels a little open because a stronger grip tends to shut the face and that is not ideal when it comes to the ability to rotate through impact without having to hold on for dear life to prevent from missing it way left

    • @noodle3872
      @noodle3872 2 месяца назад

      @@PorzakGolfAdam, at check point 1 is the lead wrist flat or slightly extended? I have a fairly neutral grip however anytime I set the club parallel to target and even with my toe line, club face vertical I have a cupped lead wrist. If I flatten my lead wrist, the club face closes and inevitably hook the ball. I got a bad case of the hooks so I use this drill as a building block to combat my excessive in to out path.

    • @Chris_Traynor
      @Chris_Traynor 2 месяца назад

      I’d be interested to hear the answer to this too. Think I’m the same. A tiny difference in my wrist can either open the face or close it just as easily. It’s like walking on a tightrope and you can fall excessively either side. Definitely takeaway is the hardest part of the swing for me to achieve correctly.

    • @anthonyavitabile2814
      @anthonyavitabile2814 2 месяца назад

      I have a really strong grip and do this drill/take away and it works. First, I did the hinge seperately and then turn and it was best contact I've ever made. Now I'm blending the hinge and turn and its still working.

  • @normsteez

    Rory was just talking about the toe line that you reference all the time. Says he focuses on hitting that spot and everything falls into place from there…….thats how I know you are not a gimmick channel and teach sound principles. When Pros are essentially doing the same thing you teach….
