Anson, where to find that Smallrig cage with the USB and HDMI clamp? Have been trying to find that to buy, but’s like impossible to find. Smallrig doesn’t do them anymore
@@Ansonandco I’ll get the name when I see them again. Someone from HQ NYC. They lent me the camera for a shoot I have and mentioned that you have great info in the camera and he showed me your channel
Hey Anson, I recently bought a sigma fp after watching your videos - this video is just what I was after! I've been looking to get back into travelling and it seemed like the perfect camera for high quality video in a compact setup. Really digging your content dude!
Great video man your videos have made really look into the Sigma Fp. As a GH5 users this looks like a good camera to get. But I still don't know if I want this or the GH6 wish there was a vs video on these too camera. Think that would make some good Content.
Unfortunately not 😕. With directors viewfinder you can desqueeze the liveview, but not record desqueezed. Also only 16:9 recording. I really don't understand why they omitted this being a cinema camera.
Pros & Cons of shooting CDNG vs BRAW? Is it really that much better or is BRAW good enough? Does it make sense to get the fp if I don't really intend on shooting CDNG most of the time?
Hello Anson thanks for your videos! I have a question about the Sigma fp. Is it possible to load in the camera a LUT to preview it while you are shooting in RAW dng? I mean only preview it not backing it in the footage. As is possible in the BMPCC4k. I was checking the manual, but I can't find .
Also, have you see the error: Battery Flat. I’m wondering what that means. I’ll check other batteries make sure all charged but is battery flat same as no more juice?
I'm curious about the sigma fp but have a few questions I can't seem to find answers to. I have a lens with a broken autofocus switch, and is stuck in autofocus. Is there a way to disable autofocus within the camera by any chance? Have you tried recording prores off of the view assist? I'm wondering if doing that bakes in a rec.709 look. I love blackmagic raw but sometimes I wouldn't need it but would love to have a 10 bit with log option... Thanks for the informative video!
What brand is the lens? With my 24-70 sigma lens I can override the AF switch by turning off AF on the camera, so it may depend. It looks like the colors do get baked in with pro res, it also keep in mind it is an 8 bit pro res, this camera never does a 10 bit non DNG codec.
@@Ansonandco Gotcha, good to know. I have a Canon EF 17-35mm f/2.8L from 1996 that has a broken autofocus switch and the ability to toggle it on and off in the camera is huge for me. My R6 doesn't have that feature and it drives me nuts because the lens is stuck in autofocus with that body. Good to know for the prores... Blackmagic raw will do fine for me. Thanks for the info!
@@RoccoGermani absolutely! Is the lens stabilized? Have you looked into a dummy EF to RF adapter, that will cause it to lose all electronics. And if you shop around you could probably find one that gives you the ability to change aperture
@@Ansonandco It's not stabilized. I have other lenses to use with the camera that I would like to have the option for AF/aperature controls with so I'm fine with that. I'm looking at getting it with the sigma mc-21.
Thanks for all the information. Been looking at and enjoying your Sigma FP videos. Love the image and form factor. What are your thoughts on using it as a camera for a travel vlog? Want something that's small, looks really good and does not bring too much attention since I'll be going to different countries. Most people say it's not a good run-and-gun type of camera.
Hey Anson, great breakdown of the real-world reasonings behind your settings! Was wondering if you do anything particular/peculiar with the custom modes? (Looking at the PASM dial on an X-H2S has me trying to justify needing all the serialized C's on the wheel...heh)
Thanks! I honestly haven’t used custom modes on a camera for several years. Now with Fuji I maybe would if it takes a lot of effort to change frame rate and shutter degree. Otherwise, I would personally leave it alone.
Did you ever dig into the possibility of ISO 100-800 being Cine EI? I saw it talked about on the Facebook user group. It seemed pretty compelling to me. I'm getting good results with ISO 500 and 800 as I like having the highlight head room more than the shadows.
Awesome Video!! Just got the camera for a Short film and I want to film and have the best 4k Quality possible. Do I need a external recorder or will an SD card (which one?) Work? If I need a external recorder, which would be the best on a cheap budget? I'd love to hear your advice and opinion if you have the time. Just subscribed. Thanks, Donald
If your on a budget I would possibly look at an SSD to shoot to. If you can swing a recorder, that will help reduce how much storage you need. You can go either way, but the native CDNG is believed the absolute best quality. I personally use BRAW for everything since I like to conserve storage space. And it’s easier to edit working with BRAW
@@TasteofTravelwithDonaldBrian recorders will be more. If you want to save money look at a used black magic video assist 12g - you might be able to snag one for $500. The ninja V is cheaper but you will have to work with pro res raw
Hi Anson! Great content, subscribed! I am about to buy the Sigma fp but there are 2 things that maybe you can help me with. I saw some issues with flickering, have you experienced that and how problematic is it? Is there a way to avoid it? Also, is editing CDNG more heavy on the computer than BRAW for example?
Thanks that was a good reminder about using the ssd for 12 bit but being able to use the sd card with 8 bit. Both 4k….Being able to leave the ssd off is handy to be look like using just an average camera….. Laurie
want ask about crop mode flexibility on FP-L and FP after firmware 3.0 updated. Which is more useful,I know FP with firmware 3.0 can change aspect ratio and sensor size. is it similar as FP-L crop function, mostly i like crop the lens from 1.1x to 1.3x
@@Ansonandco FP-L can crop from 1.1x to 5X,don't know how FP with frirmware 3.0 updated, look like with similar function allow change aspect ratio & sensor size,i want use vintage S-35 movie lenses ,these lenses coverage between S-35(1.5x) & FF,so i want crop from 1.1x-1.3x,don't know which model give me more flexibility doing that.
The only way to remote see the full raw dynamic range is to shoot pro res raw on an atomos recorder. Apply a LUT on that image and you should be able to see a final image

If this camera had dual pixel autofoucs itd pay moe. If only lidar was dependable on the threes
This thing would be WAY more popular if it had dependable autofocus
The anamorphic Community is missing 4:3 recording and desqueezing 😉

Get the Fuji X-H2S and be done with ;)
