Someday this film will become an italian classic. Once I finished it I couldn't stop crying, even though I didn't quite understand what I had seen, it didn't really matter at the moment, it was so sad yet so pure and beautiful that no explanation was needed for this piece of art to touch my soul.
I just watchedi t, and I'm speechless.
Parasite sort of borrowed from this films premise (Social Hierachies and Social- Psychologies). I think I read somewhere that the directors favorite director in 2018 was Alice Rohrwacher, so this movie may have inspired the plot to it. That's just the plot , the film still has way more things going that's worth a 3rd watch.
You understood it with your heart and this is what matters.
I had this reaction too. I couldn't stop crying but I didn't understand why exactly.

give this movie a chance. it's really sad, but in such a beautiful way. i love the artistic choices in the narrative. it threw me off, but by the end of it it just all fit so well.

Lazarro is a pure, kind, and innocent soul.
Happy as Lazzaro is one for the ages. The sheer clarity with which Alice Rohrwacher's vision translates to screen is astounding. As odd as the tale is, it never feels so. Sweepingly breathtaking yet earnestly soul-shattering.
This movies are magical because they are not those Hollywood ones that want to give you all the answers... Life is like that... Love this film!
This movie stayed with me longer than any other movie. It touches on so many things in life and is fantastical at the same time. It's become my favorite movie. I cry every time but it's an emotional release. I feel Lazarro is an embodiment of Tao.

Alice’s movies are like forgotten dreams. Even her choice of shooting mostly on 16mm adds a dreamy surreal quality that’s so unique and effortless. She’s an auteur not through narcissistic, showy filmmaking but through compassionate, vulnerable storytelling. Check out The Wonders if you can find it and La Chimera coming out in the US in March 2024.
Oh shit. Didn’t expect Netflix to put this gem in their catalog. And they are also adding Evangelion and The big Lebowski. Couldn’t ask for more. Well maybe I could ask for the Suspiria remake. That would be the best.
Underrated film, this is a real gem. Feels like a Pasolini or Tarkovsky film.
special movie. liked the mood and the story, eventhough it reminded me of a slightly abstract, surreal painting as a whole, which for a movie can be very difficult to understand, but it was well blended into simplicity.
I watched this movie without knowing what was going to happen, and it was really awesome 🥺🥺🥺 just don’t think too much if u wanna watch it, forget the reviews, forget I even said this-just take it all in and enjoy ☺️
I’m sick of Hollywood it’s a never ending cycle of bullshit films, I’d like to see more euro films like this, I’ve seen a few more and they are real they have meaning and just great to watch

This movie really stayed with me for some reason. I hate artsy movies typically because I get bored if there's no clear narrative or meaning. But this movie was so beautiful and serene, it also was so gut wrenching. The scene of them eating in their home in the city using greens they foraged from the cracks in the concrete and dipping bread in bottled canola oil will always stay with me. I'm not sure why it hit such a nerve with me but it's one of the only films I've seen that's transformed me and lodged into my brain
Just watched it, yeah that scene stays in your mine for a number of reasons.
But in my opinion the best scenes are the wolf ones it represents Lazzaro's noble spirit, and when the wolf runs back to the countryside at the end I couldn't stop crying of joy
I watched it two years ago and I still get a weird feeling thinking about this movie.....

Poignant, meaningful, beautifully shot on 16mm film....masterpiece.....for people who can pause and take things in......this film has been like a cool breeze in a humid scorching day.....

Apparently the man playing Lazarro was cast because he wasn't an actor. Works a lot in this context, but I doubt it'd work in any other film. This is a masterpiece

This movie is a masterpiece,timeless.. The guy who interprets Lazaro is not a professional actor, but he does a better job than Tom hams interpreting Forrest Gump.

@@maxali5320 there's really no explanation it was just an artistic choice to be able to tell the story in two different time periods while keeping the same actor for both sections to tie them together and to not have that character lose any of his naive innocence for the second half
I'll explain you. His name in the movie is Lazzaro. That explain everything. In the Bible, Lazaro was a man revived by Jesus, from this story his name is frequently used as a synonym of resurrection. That's why he didn't die. It's like a "miracle resurrection"
This biblical character Lazaro. He had been dead for four days and Jesus revived him.
