    This technique works a treat. Coming mainly from IL-2 WW2 twin engined bombers like the A20 I am quite new to dive bombing from such an altitude and am amazed at its accuracy.

      The bombing computer is the real secret. The A-4 devs worked hard to get it right. It is now a thing of rare and destructive beauty!

    I'm glad you covered the actual flight path of the plane because I couldn't remember if it was 38 or 30 mils from 0 and I couldn't remember where I heard the information originally. I wish I could turn the LABS tone down because it just shatters my ears and as a result I have to pretty much play with my volume turned down to zero when I'm bombing lol

    • @Sidekick65
      @Sidekick65  2 года назад +1

      It's 3 degrees or 54 mils, I believe. Which puts it at around the top of the first ring on the sight.

    nice tutorial, thank you. Whats the buttor for the camera you use to film the bomb after drop it?

    • @Sidekick65
      @Sidekick65  2 года назад +2

      There a number of ways to do it. F6 will switch to a view of the bomb itself. What you usually see in my videos is that I first switch to F2 (the outside view) and point at the airplane to watch the bombs release and then I often switch to LCTRL F3 - which will make the camera stop moving but it will pan and tilt to follow the airplane down over the target. Once the camera is pointed at the target I switch to LCTRL F11 which will stop the camera where it is and make it a free camera that you can control. It will stay pointed at the target so you can see the bombs strike. Sometimes I skip the LCTRL-F3 step and just go straight to the free camera. Hope this helps.

    Great tutorial, thank you! Now, as a new A-4 pilot, i'm fighting with correct trimming of the aircraft on the bomb run. Usually it begins to slide on the left or right, so i compensate this with rudder trim. But this results in aircraft begins to roll slightly! When i compensate this roll with aileron trim, it gives much more roll effect, than you can expect from trimmer... And now is the time to pull up, and i got no time to aim correctly. Any advices about this? When i see your "trim run", i had impression, that your trimmers work in another way than mine 😃

    • @Sidekick65
      @Sidekick65  Год назад +1

      In the A4, I generally don't touch the rudder or aileron trim, honestly. I am usually only adjusting the elevator trim on the trim run. The A4 is very touchy in roll. You might be better off ramping down the sensitivity and just flying the corrections out manually.

    Hey Sidekick, do hills interfere with the ground radar's solution for computer bombing? I've built a mission around a pop up attack against an artillery firebase on a large hill. While I initially built it around a rockeye attack, I've been forced to switch it to rockets because for some reason, on this hill, LABS makes your bombs fall way past the target every time.

    • @Sidekick65
      @Sidekick65  Год назад

      Feel free to hop on over to the Discord if you want to discuss. There are a few things that might be an issue - first of all, the LABS setting doesn't work any more. As of v2, you should now be using "computer".
      You also need to have the radar on and set to A/G.

    Dumb question, what do you do to get the full 50 mil ring visible?Usually it is out of view for me (above and beyond the hud like it is for most of your video).
    Do you lower the seat? Do you just duck down with your head a bit to see it?
    Edit:
    Ah, nvm, you mention it at 16:11 (move down)

    • @Sidekick65
      @Sidekick65  Год назад +1

      You can also try moving your head up and re-centering your head tracker. Then when you go back to normal posture it feels like you are lower in the seat...

  • @pabletesoy

    Hello,
    I have some doubts about this.
    What are we supposed to achieve with the "trim run"? because of my bad English I didn't understand it....
    With the computer I can't get to release the bombs above 3000 ft. Before, when I didn't use it, I was shooting even above 3500 quite effectively (thanks to your fantastic iron bombs videos).
    Thank you!

    • @Sidekick65
      @Sidekick65  2 года назад +3

      Well as always. If you have your own methods that work better than these do, by all means keep doing what you're doing!
      The purpose of the trim run is to get the aircraft trimmed so that, at diving speed, the nose will not rise or fall. That way you ensure that in your attack runs you are not putting any pressure on the stick to stay aimed at the target.

    I've just started learning the A4 and I've been experiencing something kind of weird. I've been trying to use bombs with the bombing mode that comes just before bombing computer. I had 6 mk82 on my center pylons. It seems no matter how I configure the drop profile with AWRS etc. All it does is drop all the bombs with the rack attached with no detonation. I now realize you cant do a ripple drop with center pylons but even in step mode it was just dropping the entire rack with bombs attached. If anyone has any info to share on what I'm doing wrong or what's happening that would be greatly appreciated. I've been using an older tutorial video which I think uses an older version of the A4 but I didnt think it would be that different from the most recent version.
    I also had the same issue with my other pylons too btw.

      Well, you may not have all the switches in the correct position then. I just checked again and when the bombs drop the tone stops and the light goes off. You could check to make sure you are using the CMPTR setting and also that the Master Arm is ON. Not sure what other advice I can give you.
