  • Jayne Meadows of I've Got a Secret talks with TV Time Machine host Jim Benson about the secrets behind the classic CBS TV panel game show, I've Got a Secret.
For seven seasons, Jayne Meadows was one of the original panelists on I've Got a Secret.
Along with Bill Cullen, Henry Morgan, Faye Emerson (and later Betsy Palmer),
I've Got a Secret was conceived by legendary game show producers Mark Goodson and Bill Todman, mirroring another of their panel show creations, What's My Line?
A more freewheeling version of What's My Line?, I've Got a Secret featured a wide variety of guests, from the famous to the ordinary, but each with an amusing or extraordinary secret that the panelists were challenged to suss out.
The show aired on the CBS television network from 1952-67. Hosted by the friendly and easygoing Garry Moore, I've Got a Secret was a primetime fixture on CBS, along with What's My Line? and both shows left the airwaves in the same year.
A few years after Jayne Meadows left I've Got a Secret, her husband, TV legend Steve Allen, took over the reins from Garry Moore, hosting the show until its conclusion.
In this interview, Jayne Meadows talks about her early show business career, how she was cast for I've Got a Secret, and the day-to-day behind-the-scenes story of I've Got a Secret--including Jayne Meadows' very own I've Got a Secret Secret.

Jayne Meadows was/is a fascinating lady. Warm, elegant, intelligent......and far deeper than her delightful public persona reveals. I think Steve Allan was blessed to be married to her. Actually they were both blessed to make a life together. God bless their Souls.
