Fond memories of my childhood shall never be replaced this theme is simply the best ever.
watched it every morning before school with my dad..hes gone now..this made me smile :)
me too... (not with dad tho) .. every mornin.. but always missed the last 3min of each episode ( the cliff hanger stuff ) - cuz had to walk to school bus --- and we didnt even
have VHS recording back then LOL
This was my dads favorite anime, i feel you holmes.
II catch it every afternoon when I come home from school. That and Battle of the Planets!!!!!!
My little brother Michael and i used to watch this too. He died in 1981 in a car accident. This makes me think of him my Irish twin
Just hit me right in the feels. I used to do the same back on the day before school too. Luckily he's still here with me. But I feel for you, I'm sorry for your loss.
I've always thought this was a really good English reinterpretation of the Space Battleship Yamato theme song. It gets all the key points just right, and sounds very nice. Impressive for late-70s dubbing.
Best anime ever created. There are no words to describe how great this series was.
1000% agree! Sandor, prepare the Wave Motion Gun!
Its not, but it was for decades.
This show taught me it's okay to have a good cry every now and then. And the honor and integrity stuff.
Damn I still get goose bumps. By far my favorite show as a kid in the 70s. Then in the late 80s I found Space Battleship Yamato. Life was good.
I love this thing so much that I put it on loop for like 5 minutes.
Awesome series! And same here with the goosebumps man!
Same here Foxly! : )
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaammmmmmmmmeeeeeeeeeeennnnnnnnnnnnnn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes! The nostalgia is flowing to me like fresh air after you leave your congested office space and enter your local park for a breath of fresh air!
Pretty cool seeing this again after 30 years. I loved this show when I was a kid.
Very first anime I ever saw but it was this American version. I was not yet 10 years old but I loved this along with G-Force (a.k.a. Battle of the Planets).
mine was the origional scooby series. But this was one of my best childhood cartoons
My father showed me this show.
This theme has never left my head.
Wow. You guys had amazing childhoods, you know? Can't wait to watch the original series and movies!
This dub song.. It depicts the idea really well, and doesn't sound bad either, but Isao Sasaki's original performance is just so epic and heroic~ Really can't decide.
it worked for it audience. This song imprinted on EVERY Genx preteen Geek . EVERY ONE.
in the 90s id hum a few bars over weed and could ALWAYS get every man near my age to spontaneously sing it.
Oh man, I miss the old classics. This was one of my all time favorite TV shows back in gradeschool
one of my all time favorite anime. I use to get up early in the morning before school to watch this at 6 am back in the early 1980's.
UCHUU SENKAN YAMATO!
HOLY CRAP!!! brings back memories or late 70's.. I love to see Boomerang or Cartoon Network air this masterpiece!
I agree and even today it is still one of the best-known and enjoyable shows yet6
man, I was ADDICTED to star blazers when I was a kid - today's cartoons cannot touch this stuff...
Star Blazers is the GOAT!
There were so many anime over the years that had their openings completely butchered in localization with d list pop "music" among other sloppy edits yet back in 1979 somebody actually put in the effort to preserve the original catchy song and write their own lyrics to vaguely match the original.
AND THEY CALLED IT SART BLAZERS instead of Spaceship "YAMATO"....What a joke. What a stupid idea. NOW THAT'S BUTCHERING.
DtoTheE they could not call it Yamato is clearly Japanese and America was going through a Asian scare during the 80s
So it the like with Germans-American during the first WW1 add to change their name.
They call it Yamato in the first episode, but then they call it the Argo when they leave Earth.
The original music is good, the lyrics are decent, but the line "Our Star Blazers" is just so corny. 'Course that goes with the rest of the era specific corniness present in the dub; Captain Avatar, Wildstar, Venture etc.
Love this!! Amazing show growing up.
Again,again,again...i cant stop to listen XD
* first watching the anime* eh its okay i guess * three hours later * UCHUU SENKAN YAMATOOOOO!!!!!!
English version sounds great. I can't pick up all of words but it is GOOD. I like this.
This was one of my favorite shows from when I was a kid. LOL
My precious childhood years!!!!
I used to watch this as soon as I came home from school religiously. Man that was so long ago.
Back In The Days!!!!
Thanks for posting this. It was one of my favorite cartoons as a kid. I could never remember the name. Thanks
i remember back when this was on i'd watch it every day. i even got into building model battleships just so i could have my own "starblazers" toy. and now i am so thrilled that syfy is going to have it on starting april 19 (at midnight edt).
Stars Blazers ?
YAAAAAMAAATOOOO!!!!
My brother and I loved this cartoon. I was around 11 when we watched it.
It would have been awesome if the Yamato encountered and fought the USS Enterprise "midway" to Iskandar. Get it?
BOOOO!!! Bad Pun!
My childhood!
Wildstar! Wowwee! This was on a kiddies' Afternoon and saturday morning show, "The Checkers and Pogo show" during the 70's in Hawai'i!
This was the Japanese version of coming to terms with losing the war (via the battleship spacecrafts). Many of their TV shows were very militarist in nature after WWII. Just take a look at Johnny Sokko and his huge freaking flying robot. This was a good show, though.
the theme sums up the show...
That is awesome!! I haven't seen that since I was 12 and that was a LOONNGG time ago. This had to be one the coolest most violent cartoons ever!
haven't heard this in soooo many years!!
Watched this last night. This theme is pretty awesome.
OMG I used to love this damn cartoon when I was like 7 ( 1982 ) I want the complete seasons on DVD.
Loved this show!
I must have had a deprived childhood- never watched this or any other anime until we got Sci-Fi Channel years later and I discovered 'Saturday Anime'
I remember watching this when I was a small child in the early 80's, used to come on every weekday around 3:00 then there was G-Force and some other stuff. :)
"hey baby, you know where these arrows are pointed"?
I brought the whole 3 volume set at a JB hi-fi for about $80 and its like.. 17 discs long or something all up. SO amazing :)
Loved this show
+ 1000 ! first of its kind i ever saw on TV
Very Catchy little theme.
Loved this awesome series as a kid(8 yrld)! I lived to watch it every day that it was on. Hearing the theme brings back memories and a tears to my eyes. Pioneering anime and a masterwork for a little kid and big kids alike. When are we getting a live action movie?! We want it on the big screen(IMAX?)!!!
They did make a live action movie. It released in 2010.
LOL...the guy jumping into the ship towards the end of the clip is the same footage/animation of Speed Racer jumping into his Mach 5...;)
Star Blazers premiers on Cartoon Network April 21st @ midnight!!!
robotech was mid late 80's, was laready off the main channels by 92 the year i graduated
This and Battle of the Planets (G-Force) were the best cartoon's of my childhood, hands down. Didn't know about the movie. Oh and Danger Mouse. Maybe Hong Kong Phooy as well ;
Awesomest. Cartoon. EVER.
Has to be the greatest TV memory from growing up. Not minutes after I got home from school it came on. Only one other of my friends was into it and we both loved drawing our own space fleets and battle scenes. The one show that inspired me to draw freehand. I found a web site many years ago that had downloadable content, but now its gone, there was a Flash game of the Yamato fighting thru different levels of attacks. Does anyone know where I could find this game again? It was on one of my old drives, but the drive crashed unfortunately. Not a year goes by that I dont bring up Star Blazers in a conversation :-D Time to watch the series again!
Simply the best song!
IMO, as far as English dubs went in the 70's, this intro was excellent and was faithful to the original. What they did to the show itself was another story (I've seen the original), but this English opening was well done and the first 20 seconds is epic.
omg....in the afternoons after school!
That's why I imported the Space Battleship Yamato 2199.
ufffffff que recuerdos........
"im boarding from the rear your uinprocted" hilarious line from starblazers
The first 6 episodes are out and the next few will be parceled out near the end of september I think.
You have to buy the Blue rays if you want eng subs.
I think the most I ever bring up Star Blazers these days is when I encounter some young person who has the exact same hair style as Derek Wildstar! And when they google the images there like “Omg thats me!”. Lol
i used to play hookie from school to watch this show.
@hulkmeister23 Yes she did. I won't spoil it, you can watch the entire saga of StarBlazers on RUclips just make sure its the remastered version.
boy i wish they bring back this cartoon?it made me for get baseball and football practice?
They need to make a full feature film on this...
Cool
Best American cartoon series EVER!!!!
i agree :D
Hurry StarForce! There is only 1 day left, before you re-air! Stay tuned this Friday at 2AM (East Coast) on SyFy!
Hell if I know, but that's what it said on the TV Tropes article. If I had to guess, I'd say it was because of Chief Blue Meanie.
who ever disliked this must have been gameloian
Wait a second.... you mean to tell me the Gamelots can destroy the planet better than we can?
WTF!!!!!////suddenly feeling excited like 6years old...hahahhaha
i used love this show.i could'nt keep with all the shows only few of them.
SYFY will be airing them 0200 PST (west coast) on fridays after Chrono Adventure.
I would come home after school and this was always the 1st thing I watched as a kid. Then G.I. Joe would come on next, then the Thundercats...lol
*Stands and Salutes the Original Mecha Anime that started the Wave of robotic anime*
I loved this show as a kid. To see it again some twenty some odd years really takes me back , as an adult I realize now how this show taught me honor and integrity , two important character traits that it seems most Americans have trouble with. Curtsey,to the japanese, for teaching me at a young age, the values that made the imperial Japanese culture, that is now oppressed by capitalism , a real force to be reckoned with.
michael belanger Funimation is releasing the new series on their streaming service
when i was a kid i so hoped the earth only had one year left...damn those Star Blazers and their meddling. If it weren't for them and their....ah nevermind...
Why do people get so bent outta shape about a tv show having a different name in another country? When I was stationed in the UK, they had GI Joe, but it was called Strike Force, when I was in Germany they had The Simpsons voiced over in German, so phuqqing what?
@jirimar
They also accasionally apear on the SciFi channel at late hours.
@puplover72 Syfy has it on their Thursday anime lineup. 2am.
@Wildstar100 Where on RUclips? If I could find it on here or anywhere for that matter, then I wouldn't be asking you for details.
Wildstar!!!!
@MrOldwarhorse Funny, this and Robotech did the same for me.
@thisranks13 Gatchaman aka Battle of the Planets perhaps?.
I personally think that the japanese theme and the american theme are equally good
They're almost identical.
The English lyrics are very precise translations of the original Japanese lyrics.
Nope.
@@Mightymite1
It is, except that Uchuu Senkan Yamato is replaced by Our Star Blazer. I am a Japanese mathematician who has been in US since 1980 who also has worked as a professional technical translator.
@Wildstar100 did it explain why Starsha decided to help earth in the first place.
I feel ya man. The first Robotech series comes close, but even that was what, the nineties?
you wish you COULD watch them again. hehe
sorry, my foreign friends always ask me to help them by correcting their English :)
the episodes are available for purchase, i'm sure you can find them on an internet store or a site like Ebay and such.
My dad made me watch this anime like twelve years ago. I blame him for what I have become.
its possible, they made a remake its got 6 episodes out right now
@hulkmeister23 its also on netflix
Gentle people does it matter yamatto or star blazers
Edward Horton Yeah I agree. At that time in USA, I think that was to be best. If that was Space Battleship Langley, I bet Japan did same action LOL. Now I am grateful for USA's broadcast.
Yes it DOSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IF In the U.S. Its Star Blazers..... And its Called the Argo.....
@gregvader It's gonna be on SyFy, not Cartoon Network
Bad Piggies version
We off to outer space,
We're leaving Pig Island,
To sail the Baconverse,
We're Space Piggies!
Searching for the Eggsteroids,
Munching all the planets' crusts,
Who knows how big we'll grow.
There are no Angry Birds,
Fat Pig eats all day long,
Trotting thru the Baconverse,
We're Space Piggies!
@hulkmeister23 Yes they did and they saved Earth!
