Star Blazers recycled the season 2 opening for the last season. This is a fanmade opening for season 3 from years ago that matches the style of the first 2 openings.
When The Bolar Wars ran originally in the United States, they reused the opening and closing credits from The Comet Empire arc. An opening like this would have made more sense, especially if they didn't use the opening them to help tell the story.

The original Japanese series from the 70’s had three seasons and five movies, I don’t talk about that last movie though... There was also a sixth movie that came out in 2009 that is a sequel to the film which shall not be named.

Yea back in my middle school years (late 70's) I couldn't get enough of this show though they only ever showed the first 2 seasons. Never knew a 3rd season had been made until seeing this in the list. I even learned about the live action version before seeing this lol. Will have to see if I can grab a copy.

Bolar wars was definitely the most wild of the seasons. The chances of a rouge missile hitting the sun in space is astronomical XD and their friendship with Dessler as if he wasn't literally space Hitler was funny, but otherwise, yaaayy starblazersss!

I thought season 3 just like the two films that were dubbed was a different cast than season 1 and 2. Which is very disappointing. And once they had to dub season 3 they couldn't locate the actors who did season 1 and 2, so they did a new voiceover for season 3.
season three isnt very good. At least for the us dubbing they changed most if not all of the voice actors as well which doesnt help either . I did have it on vhs, i cant even remember when it was on tv if it at all. I personally would only recommend if you are just curious to see it but other than that i would say people should just pass on it. This is the actual intro though to it. Kudos for uploading though. Personally season 1 is the best followed by season 2.
I picked up the DVDs some time ago, and yes, the voices are tough to get used to, but at the same time, we find that the reason being was the original US distributor was no longer in service, so a total recasting was in order. And the DVDs are a step up from the VHS, as I read in the liner notes. Nothing cropped to hide the Japanese captions (though missing English translations), and a far better quality picture.
I could only make it through half of season 3 myself. The setup of Earth being destroyed and needing to be evacuated was a terrible idea because it completely undermines the accomplishments of the Star Force in seasons 1 and 2, I'll never understand why they chose to take the story in that direction (or why the Manga chose that direction if that was the case). If evacuating Earth was always possible, why didn't they think to do that during season 1?

You apparently never followed the cartoon. The lyrics changed on purpose twice, for each new added season. Three total seasons, original lyrics, 2nd season lyrics, 3rd season lyrics, new lyrics for three separate main themes.
It depends on which version you chose to follow. The original Japanese version is Space Battleship Yamato; the US version is Star Blazers. It's kind of like the difference between Macross and Robotech. In the Japanese version the ship is called the Yamato which was a Japanese battleship that was sank in WWII. In the US version the ship is still called the Yamato but is renamed at launch the Argo. Space Battleship Yamato has all Japanese named characters while the US version Star Blazers renamed the characters to more relatable English names.
