It's great to see a non-TESLA owner using the app and charging here. As a Tesla owner, I think its great, this will help push the network for us owners. Thanks for the content.
@@benEVuk I've waited for Tesla owners using the two non Tesla chargers, when the nearby row of eighteen Tesla chargers wasn't working, they got some stern looks too 😂

Hi Ben, have Tesla, but.........just swapping my wife's Mokka EV for Dolphin.......so interested to see how you progress. Missus drove the car in test drive, I was in passenger, really impressed with interior and the comfiness of the seats......Like memory foam. Good luck with the channel. Sean
Excellent informative video. I'll get the Tesla app a few days before my next long journey. 😎 My longest drive so far was 153 miles from home to home through the Yorkshire Dales. Beautiful drive in my i-Pace which has an actual range of about 250 miles.
Have used that charger once, great charger just a little out the way on my journeys. Also used the Tesla supercharger in Leeds and the one at the Mour hotel near Nottingham. Used to use Ionity with a subcscription but as more Tesla chargers have opened up they are my main goto stations now.
Also did my first charge on Tesla recently, trying it out ahead of trip to France when we might well need to use them. You have the advantage of your chargepoint being on the "right" (i.e. left) side of the car. More difficult for those of us who don't, particularly when chargers are busy - some tricky charging etiquette dilemmas!
you will be so happy once you move to your new house, charging at home is so much cheaper we put 47.1 kWh in our Mach E and that cost £3.30. An entire month of charging in July using 483.4 kWh cost us only £33.84
I've no home charging so took out a one year tesla membership for @ £90 (also available monthly), fast charging my MG4 @ 34p/kWh. A couple of 80% charges a month should cover most of my needs and the peace of mind of the tesla network reliability for the longer journeys makes it worthwhile, and still at worst half the cost of ICE fossil fuels.
@@_Dougaldog great isn't it mate! I'll be getting the home charger soon so didn't sign up for the membership as it wouldn't be cost effective. But it's a great option! Thanks for watching 👍
@@benEVukif you are away from home or on a road trip and doing three or four full charges over say a week or two its likely worth subbing just for a month.
Just did a trip to Cornwall in our E-Niro and charged at Lifton Down (really nice bistro and Hotel Menu is good for return journey in evening). Tesla membership provides a rate of 31 pence going down and 37 pence on way back - take that Gridserve! Tesla chargers don't break down and never charge to more than 80% on DC charging or 90% on AC. Happy charging!
Brilliant that mate 👌 forgot to mention the membership! Ref charging, LFP battery in the BYD so actively states it's fine to charge to 100% each time with little to no impact on the battery 🔋 cheers for watching 👌
Having a home charger is like the second half of the EV equation, plug it in when you get home, unplug it before you set off, with a full battery and plenty of range, couldn't be easier!
I live in Harrogate and used that supercharger until I had my Zappi installed. I navigate primarily via Tesla superchargers. I have driven 2000 miles and have only had one charge at a non-Tesla charger which was 10 mins at an EV point charger outside Edinburgh, which was fine.
We charged at that location on a road trip from Norfolk recently. Very nice shop. We always charge our Kia Niro at Tesla chargers as much as possible. By far the cheapest, and they work first time every time.
I have a Zappi and I'm on Octopus Intelligent Go which is 7p/kWh from 11:30pm to 05:30am. Best thing about the Intelligent tariff is it sometimes charges outside the overnight times so you get the whole house at the cheaper rate. 👍
I used pubic Tesla superchargers almost exclusively on a 600 mile trip from N.E. Scotland to Southampton with my Zoe. Most reliable and affordable by far. They are also usually located by toilets and fast food outlets. Wish Tesla would make all their Uzk chargers public just like they did in the Netherlands.
Hi I have a Kia eNiro and for the last 2 years I have only been using Tesla chargers. I live just North of Edinburgh, I can reach Tesla at Harrogate as my first stop going south. Two years ago i drove to Switzerland and I only charged at Tesla chargers. Tesla get their electric from same place as everyone else so I don't see how we are being charged so much on all the other chargers.
Before you sign up with Octopus and get cheap EV charging at 7.5p per KWH can I recommend Ecotricity You get 5 hours cheap rate electric per 24 hours (mine is 7.48p per KWH) BUT you get 5 hours cheap electric for the whole house not just EV charging which in my opinion is a better deal than Octopus. Also means you can install a charger at home which doesnt have to be Octopus tariff compatable so might be cheaper as you get more choice
I am on Octopus intelligent Go and i get my car charged, home battery filled up and rest of the house run at the 7p rate between 23.30 and 05.30. It does require that you have a charger or vehicle that allows interaction between Octopus and the charger / vehicle so be careful what charger you buy, i have a PodPoint which works fine but my neighbour has Ohme which was recommended by Octopus and was cheaper so that might be worth looking at. They recently run a competition giving away 3 x BYD Dolphin so on that basis i assume there should be no problem with your car interacting with Octopus Go or Octopus intelligent Go. If you do go with Octopus it is worth finding a family member or friend already with them and use their sign on code as you both get £50 each for referral. If all else fails there are plenty of RUclipsrs asking you to use their codes! Good video.
That's like saying if you fill up of petrol/diesel at the supermarket after doing a shop the cost of your shopping is incorporated into the cost of your fill up?
No that makes no sense because first of all it's entirely optional and when we're on trips we do this weird thing called, eating breakfast, eating lunch. We also find that we want to drink something. Even in ICE we do this. I understand that some people prefer to make sandwiches at home, pack a flask, eat and drink on the go on their 10 to 12 hour journeys and I'll assume they pee in a bottle. My wife and I prefer a more relaxed, enjoyable life and the car is usually ready before us, we're not waiting around for it to charge.
All these apps not really any good for the elderly is it.A simple card payment debit or credit would be far better. So a South African in the US is ruling the roost now in the UK?
I personally wouldnt give Musk my money. Because he is a terrible person and I wont help fund him. I'll avoid anything Tesla until they get rid of him.
Used the open to all chargers in my MG4 x power, even on our trip to Germany I was so impressed I bought a 2020 M3 SR+, as a second EV the MG4 X power is now a weekend toy.

Could go on October Go at 8ish pence per kilowatt, but would probably get around 1-2kwph charge speed so slow 👍

Weird for a US viewer to see a Tesla Supercharger being CCS.
Shouldn't the cost of food and drink every time you have to sit around while the battery is being charged be added to the cost of EV operation?
