3 years next March, I'll have owned an ev. Pergeot e208. Best move ever switching to electric and I'm 74. My next car in March will also be an ev, and guess what? .... a Dolphin. I haven't heard or seen written from anyone owning one of these, that they dont like them or had any issues. Far from what I've heard from any other ev owners, including my e208.

I've had my BYD Dolphin for a week now - so far only driven very short distances, but impressed with it so far. Previous vehicle was an electric Corsa which did, on average a shade under 4 miles p/kwh (though I mostly drove in eco - except in the summer when the eco setting's air con wasn't powerful enough). The BYD has a bigger battery, so has more range. I'm looking forward to being able to take it out on some longer journeys. If you've got a decent at home charger and a decent electricity tariff (e.g. with Octopus), you can easily get really cheap rates. At less than 10p/kwh overnight you can easily get a full charge ( say 200 miles) for ~£6. Yes, charging on public chargers is expensive, but if you're mostly able to charge at home it's a far cheaper vehicle to run and maintain. The thing I find most mad about this vehicle is why it's so much more expensive in the UK -- ~$15,000 in China .... ~£30,000 in the UK!

1. do you have ventilated front seats? There are many strange talks that some versions have it, some don't. Hyundai Kona has ventilated and heated front seats. 2. Do you have heating steering wheel and mirrors? 3. does it have in-car power outlet to charge for example building tools or hairdryer?

I've had my Dolphin for soon a year now. Was my first EV as well and i've had no regrets about it. Done 15k kms so far and the car has had 0 issues. Easily the best car i've ever owned.

Just working my way through your videos on the Dolphin, I have seen quite a few on YT but I do like the detail you go into. I am liking this car more and more now and it is useful to see things up close like the controls and the general quality of the seats, etc. As you now have a fitted charger at home, I take it the 3 pin plug was no good for you? Unless I get a charger fitted I am hoping to plug my car (when I get it) into a 3 pin socket when I get home and unplug it again before bed, which would give it around 5 hrs of charge, what is that going to give me in miles?

Hi, great, insightful video, good to see real life usage of the BYD. Next month, I hope to be in a position to be able to choose an EV (through salary sacrifice), until I see all my options, I am likely to be choosing between BYD Dolphin or the MG4 (as high a spec as I can), I have seen so many pro's & cons between these two cars already. My daily drive is about 70 miles so shouldnt have any range concerns. I am hoping the lease company will provide a charger (I know some car manufactures have given them away with the cars), did you get a wall box with your BYD or the 3 pin home charging cable (I know this will be slow)?

Exactly the car we bought, in that colour too. That PCP deal was fantastic, you couldn't turn it down! We had two faults when we collected it, but were quickly rectified by BYD Snows Southampton, which are not the best but hey, I won't be seeing them much. IMHO anti EV'ers have never driven one, and they only mouth off online. We've had several people come up to us in car parks asking about the car, most are so interested

I live in Harrogate and used that supercharger until I had my Zappi installed. I navigate primarily via Tesla superchargers. I have driven 2000 miles and have only had one charge at a non-Tesla charger which was 10 mins at an EV point charger outside Edinburgh, which was fine.

Thank you - just in the process of leasing a Dolphin Comfort from Octopus EV and this has been a really useful video along with another you’ve done. Like the way you do this - feels real and down to earth.

I have had an EV for 3 years and do not worry about consumption. Just drive and use percentage to dictate charging stops unless stopping for a food/bathroom break then use ABC - always be charging. I use 20-80% for normal daily use.

I got a pink BYD Dolphin in April. It is fantastic to drive, I have solar on my house so it is essentially free to charge. No complaints at all.

Wish theyd sell these in the States. All weve got are teslas and more garbage.

Proper nice car to be fair. The only thing I really dislike about it is the 'Build your dreams' logo in the back. It can't even be removed because it is undernearth the rear light bar :( Aside from that, it is nice/

I think a lot of charging issues are the badly designed plugs, they don't click into place, so it's really easy to think they're plugged in properly when they're not, sadly I think we're stuck with them now ☹️
