    I like using laptop coolers mostly to keep the back of the laptop raised and secondly for the ergonomics to try and keep the screen at eye level. Anything else beyond that is a bonus! Great review as ever thanks

  • @Atlink
    @Atlink 3 месяца назад +11

    The reason this cooler works is specifically because of the gasket.
    If you have a fan pushing air into a space that is sealed, and the only way to get the air out is to push it through the vents on the laptop, well there you go.
    With other open coolers, this just blows air at the bottom of the laptop, but doesn't really have air forced through the vents. Couple the gasket with a powerful fan, and you're pushing ludicrous amounts of air through those vents that the built in fans could only dream of.

      @@MashITTechnot at all . Most coolers with 2 or 3 fans are mostly uselless in 100 % load scenarios and sometimes hinder airflow. They are good for idle scenarios. The ones with this fan design that simulates a turbine are the ones worthly enough for a xx60 and higher laptop gpu. I am thinking of gifting such a cooler pad to my brother who uses an omen 16 with an 2m hdmi and external monitor.

    Hi! I've been watching your channel for a couple years now, and since your first Alienware x16 review, I set a goal to save enough money to buy it, and just a couple weeks ago I finally got it on a clearance sale! I'm super happy with my purchase, and thanks to your review on the X16, I've found the perfect laptop for me! The one and only thing that I don't like about the laptop is the fact that the motherboard is inverted, which means in order for me to clean the fans from dust, I will need to completely take apart the motherboard, which is something that I have tried and failed at reassembling it in previous laptops. 😅 I would really appreciate this laptop cooler becuase the foam doesnt allow much dust to get through the fans and hope you would consider it!

    The point here is when you keep in over a desk. The air doesn't have anywhere to go as the vents gets covered by the desk or table where it's kept.
    Gaming laptops have fans with 6000-8000rpm.
    All you need is a stand where there is no middle part. So that when the fan runs. It the air does not get blocked.

    When I bought my Legion 5P a few years back after watching many videos including yours I think.
    Being my first full gaming laptop I thought maybe a cooling pad would be a good idea.
    My thoughts were anything is better than nothing so went with the cheapest option on Amazon, a Trust Ziva model @ about £5 :D
    I know I'm cheap, so a new one would be a nice upgrade especially as I'm thinking of upgrading the laptop now.

    Dad jokes aside, I run a small side hustle from home using my 2021 Acer Predator Helios 300, connected to multiple external & portable monitors. I keep a close eye on the CPU temperature at all times, and it's almost always over 85 degrees which has been impacting the performance as of late, so this cooling pad would come in handy.

      The X17 takes air from the top and bottom! I wouldn't recommend gaming with the lid closed ever. I did a video on it a long time ago and showed how much it throttled with the lid closed. Its a real shame as I like to run the laptop docked and closed but you can't with any of the more recent Alienwares

    • @Th3OnlyRandy
      @Th3OnlyRandy 6 месяцев назад

      Right on…that tracks with what I’ve found too. Ok, so it wouldn’t be the “best” accessory since some of the airflow is from on top of the keyboard…but still some benefits from the intakes that do exist on the bottom. Thanks, mate.

    • @MashITTech

      No not at all and I did test on the blade 18" the foam does not block the intakes and because it seals it, makes sure the intakes are getting pure cool air. I was a bit worried myself when I first took it out of the box, I had never seen a laptop cooler with foam before

      I was also concerned when I pulled it out of the box, I had never seen a laptop cooler with foam before. Fortunately it works well by sealing the laptop onto the cooler and then ensures the laptop is getting only the cool air being pushed into the air intakes

      It wasn't that I wasn't impressed, I was more disappointed. I absolutely loved the x16r1 and the x16r2 is almost identical which is my problem, the CPU is more efficient but not as powerful as previous r1 13th gen. And all the other manufacturers are using better screen options, now there is nothing wrong with the current screen but having a 500 nit version would have been much much better plus maybe a mini LED or OLED option. Either way, I love the x16, I just think Dell have been very very lazy this year. With regards to heat, I think I just got unlucky, hope yours has better thermals
