- Big Star or The Spot, that is the big debate in Kenosha, WI right now. Drive-in burger stands are a bit of a throwback to our foodie past, but not in Kenosha, they are still going strong. We visit Big Star and The Spot to see first hand what these burgers are all about. Next, we visit Chef Dane Baldwin, Owner of The Diplomat in Milwaukee, WI. Dane is a recent James Beard Award semi-finalist and makes world class but accessible food, such as the Diplomac burger. The Diplomac is a play on a Big Mac but with quality ingredients and superior flavor. Luke gets to try a variety of dishes from the menu.

Both the spot and big star are great. Each does a burger their own way and does not step on the other’s toes.
Thx. I also worked at an A & W. My favorite bev was a swamp float. .. Rootbeer, orange soda and of course, scooped custard.
And pizza burgers were d'lish...nothing like the ones sold now.

So basically, the bun on the Spotburger is just an edible burger wrapper to keep your hands from getting greasy while you hold the burger and otherwise stays out of the way. Sounds like the winner to me. But I'll have to truck on up to Kenosha some day to check for myself which is better.

Hello, Kenosha, and what about Andy’s?, the best burger in Kenosha, a classic drive in!
Everyone sleeps on Andy's, but their food is great. The pizza burger is incredible and is made with actual sausage instead just a beef burger with pizza sauce.
And it's the only one that serves breakfast.
Would you blanch the beans, then fry them ? Or just fry them straight up ? Would love a rough recipe !!

Was at Big Star in May 24.. Very disappointed. It was awful.. It was much better 4 years ago.
