16 years old, I played the entire album to my dad at new years eve, great memories , the first album i ever bought,( from my first weeks wage ,September 1979).. still have the album 41 years later
Thanks so much for this. First heard this album at college, back in the early 80s and been one of my favourites ever since. Gerry's voice is like melted chocolate. Sadly missed.
Hey Jevinday I was about to comment in exactly your way. So we have good common ground. As a farther of daughters I hear the fiddles play and the joy start whenever I see them. It’s a difficult relationship, as it has to be able to observe and not damage the future.
Was just twenty when this album was released ,was moving into my first flat in Dublin £7 a week played this and all of Rafferty,s stuff non stop pure genius
I just rediscovered the City to City album after first hearing it as a teenager. My mum lost her cassette (yes, cassette) years ago so bought it for her birthday. What a talent! (Gerry Rafferty, not my mum). Sad to say they don't make albums of that quality any more, but I've had it on repeat today.
The Bee Gees in 1978 as great as they were and the success they had , yes , but SNF was show biz . For me Rafferty ruled 78 . Why isn’t he in the RocknRoll Hall of Fame ? Sorry Mills and Gen sera . No way is the Cure , Red Hot Chili Pappers, and Radiohead is as talented as Gerry Rafferty was .

Music is a sharing of times gone by.
it is difficult to get over such great talent gone.
What a lovely song from a loving father to his daughter
Brilliant song, always loved it, The Proclaimers did a great version at the Gerry Rafferty tribute concert.
You could slip this song on to Abbey Road and it wouldn't sound the least bit out of place.
Just to be clear; that was meant as a compliment.
Apologies too good for Abby Road Leave it where it is
A joyous classic from Gerry about his young daughter Martha.

Love every song on City to City. Fantastic album. The world misses your beautiful voice and talent. RIP.
When I bought it on CD I thought it was a "greatest hits" album and it's got enough great tracks so maybe I was right and reality has got it wrong?!
One of my favorite songs by one of my favorite artists. We love you Gerry!

I think it's my favourite track. 👍
My favourite of all his songs Just magic
@@DavidJohnson-yq4nz My favorite on this album for sure, what a swing when he sings this (and the violins session makes me die each time...).

What a great. You always know it's Gerry as soon as he sings the first note of any song.
Awesome track with one of the best fade ins ever.

Duncan: you’re MuM strikes me as a great talent. She’s shared the World with a fine person in you.
@@philipglaister5160 You're too kind, sir. I'm blushing.
Duncan: Matties Rag is a beauty for the child/parent thing. He clearly missed her when away.
Right down the line is out of this world rip Gerry c u soon luv. Gilly
One of my favorite albums stil have the original one I bought. Love Gerry miss him much. Music of my life.
What the f*ck happened , I took a nap in 78' & I'm seriously twisted man🧐
Als Menschen mit schlechter Kindheit noch wunderschöne Musik statt "Gangster-Rap" gemacht haben. Diese Melodien, diese Stimme!
He was an absolutely a brilliant song-writer, singer and a very, very an intelligent person!
Stunning melody and sublime Gerry throughout. Such a legendary man!

Love this and i have loved it since 1978. Gerry was so under rated. Brilliant song writer.
The greatest of the greats!!!! The GOAT, imo
One of my favorites by Mr. Rafferty. Played this album so much when I bought it. Still holds up of course all these years later.
Sad that he never grew to be that "old man of rock." Except in our memories.
What does that even mean
@@primocancilla3390 Listen to the words of the song.
@@leavingitblank9363 I did
@@primocancilla3390 He says, "I'll be a grand old man of rock with all these memories." Well, he never made it to old man.
