Not a single public dime. Let the McCaskey’s foot the bill if they want a new stadium. No one subsidized my house, why should we subsidize a billionaires playground?
The city of Chicago doesn't have the money to build it. They'd need to re-finance the remaining payments on the previous Soldier Field renovation for another 30 years to build this. And the price that the Bears cite, is only for the building of the stadium itself, and NOT the surrounding infrastructure. That doesn't include changes in street layout, demolition of the old stadium and turning it into a park, and the building of hotels and restaurants nearby to the stadium on public land so that the area isn't effectively abandoned when there aren't any games or concerts. And the Friends of the Parks already beat George Lucas with his museum that would have been built on the same parking lot the Bears are proposing to use as the location of the new stadium. And Lucas was paying to build this thing completely out of his own pocket with no expense to the city!
@@ColeSpolaric Friends of the Parks got what they wanted in the end. A win is a win. As for the Bears, they're not going to find the money anytime soon. Pritzker as governor is against using public funds for the stadium. And while the Bears have been working on Brandon Johnson to push new stadium funding, the Mayor isn't popular enough or have enough clout to push anything through. Add in the budget hole this year, so unless the Bears bring big present boxes full of cash to every alderperson in the city this Christmas, they're not getting the city government on board with this either. I wouldn't be surprised if there will be a push to elect a more "favorable" governor for the 2026 election (be it an alternative democratic candidate or a republican). And potentially in 2027 to unseat unfavorable alderpersons and a new Mayor. While the mayor can't be recalled, there's already a push both in state government and signature gathering to put the possibility of recalling Mayors (not just Governors) in Illinois. If that somehow passes before 2026, I wouldn't be surprised if a repeat of the Oakland Mayoral Recall happens in Chicago before Johnson's term is up.

Secondly, I am opposed to the lake front project and completely agree with the Friends of the Park group that this should NO be built in this lakefront location! The Arlington Heights location is exactly on the center of their fan base. No better public transportation location can be found in this entire county. METRA, the public rail transportion service has a train station next to the site that brought tens of thousands of horse racing fans to the former races track. Enough said.
It’s going to be in Arlington Heights. They’ve wanted the land since before the played in Wrigley. Prior to the first Racetrack. When it burned down in the late 80s the Bears again tried to move to AH. They own the land. The new stadium is not going to be in the city. It’s going to be closer to the airport. There’s not many logical reasons to keep it downtown
That view inside at 3:49 looks like the upper decks are too far away from the field. Unless the point is to display all the people who have better seats than you do.

Let the owners finance it. So tired of states and cities footing the bill for billionaire owners to get a new stadium to have excuses to raise ticket, concessions, and memorabilia prices.
Yeah $2.4 billion in public funding is ridiculous. The Rams Stadium was 5.5 billion, but that was privately funded by the owner himself. If an owner or owners can't afford to pay for a new stadium, they should SELL THE TEAM
The Retractable Dome must come with the Stadium because the owners will eventually make all of that Money back especially once the Bears start winning and through concerts and other year round activities ! The city of Chicag(oans) really wants to have that retractable dome !
The McCaskey family needs to pay for everything involved with building a new stadium on park department land and accept the taxes that will be paid for it. The land they bought in Arlington Heights can be used for a casino with a Bears theme or sold again to whoever wants it. I don't know what the hell is going to happen but I do know that the new stadium is now Kevin Warren's baby. That wasn't a renovation, it was a complete rebuild.
Aren't the people of Chicago still paying for the monstrosity built inside Soldier Field?
after atlanta, LA and vegas, us bank stadium at 1 billion is looking like a steal. btw, it's already paid for. Was finished in 2016.
I am sooooooo glad we have Ford Field. Good luck Bears fans.
Lifelong Bears fan here and I'd rather see my taxes go towards resurfacing the state highway that goes through my town, that by the way hasn't been done in over 30 years, than to build a stadium. Let the owners finance it. So tired of states and cities footing the bill for billionaire owners to get a new stadium to have excuses to raise ticket, concessions, and memorabilia prices.
They want to tear down our 2nd home stadium
Go Pack Go lol
Stay at Soldier Field🐻⬇️❗️
As a Chicago bears fan I'm excited for a new stadium . 💙🧡💙🧡💙🧡 the bears New stadium 🏟 will be so cool Chicago will host a super bowl
Chicago has a football team?
Yeah $2.4 billion in public funding is ridiculous. The Rams Stadium was 5.5 billion, but that was privately funded by the owner himself. If an owner or owners can't afford to pay for a new stadium, they should SELL THE TEAM
Where is the parking??
The Retractable Dome must come with the Stadium because the owners will eventually make all of that Money back especially once the Bears start winning and through concerts and other year round activities ! The city of Chicag(oans) really wants to have that retractable dome !
Simply force the owners and the NFL to pay the public back out of their obscene profits!
Replace the iconic soldier field with this modern egg? Why? Just renovate to keep it's charm and iconic status!
How does the old saying go....BUYERS BEWARE.....
there was no kick back check for pritzker, no money for fatty means no money for the bears.
I doubt anything gets started soon and the Bears will continue to play in Soldier Field for the next several years.
I think it’s a beautiful stadium and I love the park development that surrounds it. I hope it gets built
Do you live in Chicago? If not then you are not looking at the whole picture. Traffic will be a disaster you might be paying for it with higher taxes. Spend more money on Soldier Field to upgrade it makes more sense
@@alanbiancardi2531 And that attitude is why the United States is falling apart. People are soo cheap
they won't
Not with my effing money that's for damn sure
And just how much more of your💵 are putting up to help finance the development?
Chicago resident here. They're welcome to go to Arlington Heights with the way they play, but they shouldn't be allowed to use "Chicago" in their name as Arlington Heights is nowhere near Chicago. In fact, most Chicagoans have never even been there.
To loose every season they don’t need a new stadium
They're going to build in Arlington Heights, this whole thing is a charade to not let AH lose the stadium
Do Cleveland and the Browns new stadium
Before a new place, the Bears should win some games. Also if the Bears want a new home, they should pay for it, not the taxpayers
Taxpayers should NOT pay for a new stadium for a team that constantly sucks.
Spend that on the team and maybe you’ll have people come to watch, especially given the ridiculous ticket & food prices for watching garbage.
