The work done with this channel is priceless. Providing money is fantastic and very much needed-we may not understand why some use the money for drugs, abortions etc but, this is the truth of the individuals we see in these videos. Their truth is that they, for whatever reasons, need the money to continue their addiction-the story and reasonings of why they need the money for whatever they ultimately end up purchasing is their story. This channel is more than an avenue to provide cash but an avenue and an invitation to hear these stories.
Everyone has a story. Everyone. Not everyone has someone to sit without distraction and actually listen and hear what is being said. Hearing makes us aware, responsible and accountable. Most of us or all of us have been or are (at one point or another) judge mental before a word is ever spoken.
After viewing these videos and hearing the stories, these individuals can no longer be a “no-name” in the streets. They have a name. They have a story. They are someone’s mother, father, sister or brother. They are OUR brother and sisters we are seeing.
To understand that there are Americans struggling and to hearing their stories is the fruit of this channel. To understand that these individuals are not too different than us is priceless. They are us and we are them.
It is hungry work Mark does-it is not easy to travel into the abyss that is the world of these individuals and go home and have it just “shut-off”. I’m sure the emotional aspect tied to creating content for this channel is a harsh mistress no doubt.
To those sharing their life with us: thank you for sharing your story and your truth. I see you and I hear you.

As my parents told me, "you may not be interested in the Vietnam War but the war is interested in you." In this game (and it has been proven by science to be just that - a game), the challenge is to work with the hand you've been dealt - period. The game is focused on knocking you down to see if you can get back up and then it will knock you down again. The game is only concerned with whether or not you get back up. Failure to get back up is a loss.

I live in the deep Deep South and I have helped my own community in the past, mostly during Katrina. California is a shit show in regards to homelessness and drug addicts and California created the problem so they can fix it. They enable these people instead of helping them. So when people like me are begging for someone to get help, we aren’t asking to sugar coat it for an interesting video. We are asking because we see the fear and desperation in that person and they are pretty much screwed living in that state and that’s also why other folks who have their shit together are leaving California for Texas and Florida. Surely they have help to get their next stage of life sorted before they're locked out on the street like someone coming out of prison ? If not then America really is the most atrocious country in the world, they have all the money and facilities and education to help people and yet they fail time and time again, even the basic health care system over there is messed up. I've been wkg in social services for over 20 years I didn't catch that until she said this. No. The man wasn’t around the mother. The mothers take the children with them. It’s rarely the dads fault it’s usually he can’t stand to deal with how degenerate the woman is, and the man struggles to discipline her. The mothers then convince the kids that ‘mummy loves you and daddy hates you’ and then they end up like this because they’re constantly searching for a ‘coddling’ love that drugs give you and mothers love gives you which is a fake, carnal type of love.
Real love is a fathers love, discipline, correction, non emotionality, and unconditional love.

    Loyalty -
As we both know you won’t be able to do anything in active addiction. If you have Medi-Cal please get into a methadone program ASAP or on a waiting list for in house rehabilitation. Grant yourself some stability in your health first and foremost. One of the many upsides about both Methadone programs and in-house treatment is the social workers there! If you get into in house treatment you’ll have temporary housing and then if all goes well you can get into a half way house. There they’ll set you up with outpatient classes, work training, food stamps, all of that. Here in Sac you can stay in those for up to a year while you get back on your feet. Next, look into vocational training.
Mark has given you a fantastic platform with thousands of people rooting for you and many willing to help, but it’s up to you to take the first step.

In some ways I agree with this comment people can be very high functioning addicts, some even go to work and pay their bills but that doesn't mean it wasn't a chaotic childhood that obviously didn't set her up for success. The foster care system is a failure and has so many stories like this, I don't understand. You should know a kid who's gone through that much shit is just acting out. I definitely do blame the mother for giving her child heroin that is absolutely insane to me but what happens when you're on drugs is your brains prefrontal cortex deteriorates and you lose the ability to make healthy decisions. So while she was probably a good mom at times and probably even did the best she could (in a weird sense) there were many mistakes when she wasn't in a good mental space. No excuses just humanity isn't always that simple. I can see it in her and I could probably see the same thing in her mother. These generational curses are incredibly hard to break but I give her props for building herself up to that point and hopefully she can do it again because she's obviously very strong. Anyone who's gone through that much should be called a warrior in my book. We look at addicts like they're weak for going to drugs but most of the time they've gone through shit you could never even comprehend. Trauma isn't easy to handle. Period.

NO ONE would hire him and I was 7 months pregnant. We had no idea what was going on until we learned it was a recession on the way. We lost it all!! No apartment just my car. Everything gone. I got 3 small jobs at the mall and did odd jobs until 9 months pregnant. He left me from the pressure of it all. I was left alone with a newborn baby and found a full time job when my son was 4 weeks old. I got a new apartment and I put my baby in daycare and enrolled myself in college with a full time schedule. The "support" this country offers children that come from troubled homes is nearly non-existent. It's a sickening reality across the country and we need to demand a complete social system reform to create support for individuals of all ages. ESPECIALLY the kids. She's carried that lack of worth through her early adult years and it's so unfair. I feel angry that she's where she is. Part of that anger is directed at the drugs, because I am an addict/recovering and understand exactly what it feels like to feel that lost. The other part is directed at COVID, and our lack of control over it. When will it actually start getting better? Time will tell. I hope she stays safe and finds a way out of the fentanyl.
