I'm a teen and I want to adopt a plant-based diet really soon -- I don't know how to cook but my mum said she'll help me and she's fine with me becoming plant-based. But recently she said she wants me to become vegetarian first because though I already BARELY eat meat (only sausages and pepperoni/salami, which is less than once a week. I don't like most meat) and dairy (except butter and cheese, but I don't drink milk or yoghurt b/c I don't like most dairy), I'm not eating much veg because I don't like many either. So I'm probably deficient in vitamins and minerals already, and my mum wants me to get used to being a healthy vegetarian before becoming plant-based. I have started eating more fruit, though [3 per day, because before I ate none b/c I'd always not eat them for some reason, though I've always loved fruit] I have Asperger's Syndrome which makes me hypersensitive to some textures and tastes in food [they make me gag often]. Which is why I don't like so many "normal" foods. My point is, how can I become plant-based? I really want to because of the meat and dairy industries as well as my health and the environment, and I hate how I have to make myself eat cheese and non-vegan foods still and actively shift my newly-found information to the back of my mind because there is nothing vegan that I can prepare other than fruits. Would anyone even see this oml I'm just pouring out my mind
Just start slow. Try new veggies and fruits every week. And if you only find a few days worth plant based meals you like then that's ok. Just keep eating them and keep trying new foods. Personally i like fresh veggies better over cooked. :)
Depending on what textures you are sensitive to, I’d start there. For example, if soft fruits and vegetables bother you I’d go for ones that are more dense or crunchy! Like apples, raw vegetables, etc. You can also bake some vegetables like potatoes to make them crunchy. The same goes if it’s hard foods that bother you, you can always cook to adjust the texture! And for the taste part, most plant-based food is easy to adjust to your own taste by using different spices and sauces so I would just experiment for what’s good for you. ALSO, I don’t think there is anything wrong with going vegetarian before going vegan. That’s what I did too :)
What textures do you find gross? What do you find good? If you can't bear crunchy stuff, try a tonne of smoothies! Add vegetables like beetroots, spinach and cauliflower, add frozen-berries, bananas, soy-yogurt (better than soy milk because probiotics) and oats, and for the fats, add some nut or seed butter, chia seeds and flax seeds, blend for quite a while (to break down and emulsify the funky textures into a smooth, creamy beverage) and drink up! If you find smooth and soft foods nasty, try foods in their natural form. Try fruit salads including apples, fresh berries and other fruits that you like. Or try and have more sandwiches with cucumbers and zucchini and pickles and toasted whole-wheat or rye (sounds weird, but tastes mighty fine). Nature offers a vast expanse of food choices, find out what you prefer and include it slowly into your diet!
I recently moved from eating quite a lot of meat to eating vegetarian only. Your recipes are a great inspiration and I added a couple of your dishes to my plan.
as an indonesian, i feel so happy with my nation's food being presented here (and you adding your own twists and ingredients to the dish as well!). love your content :)

I was never a big fan of oatmeal until I discovered 1. Scottish oats ( I find they’re creamier and I prefer he texture) and 2. Savoury oatmeal, especially with red onion, kale and veggie apple sausages.

I'm so happy that you aren't afraid too use some oil in your cooking. I went vegan because I just couldn't eat animal products anymore after informing myself and feeling like such a hypocrite. But I've struggled with food obsession before and noticed, how all the 'vegan health channels' villenized even high quality oil, which made me start to obsess over cooking with no oil, even if I grew up in Italy where there are available one of the best cold pressed olive oils which my family always used. Since looking into your channel I've been so inspired too not be afraid of some high quality oil!❤

I just discovered you due to hair tutorial, but im staying cause i love your food & i need to lose weight, im 45, divorce gained weight up to 163 only 5"4" and I've been meaning to become a vegan, you motivated me just when i lost all hope, thank you, i love you from my soul to yours. 💜💚💙 you also look like my daughters.
Sadia, I love how healthy of a relationship you two have with food. It shows in these recipes and the way you speak about them. This is so important!! And your editing skills are amazing 🙌🏻 Please always keep sharing videos with us ❤️
i was feeling really stressed out before watching this but it was literally so calming. Thank you for such great content!
thanks for all your nutritional advise and recipes, I have told my sister about your channel also. Nice to see another vegan in the world.
Your videos are aesthetic goals! Thank you for inspiring me to be a teen vegan!
I have started eating more fruit, though [3 per day, because before I ate none b/c I'd always not eat them for some reason, though I've always loved fruit]
I have Asperger's Syndrome which makes me hypersensitive to some textures and tastes in food [they make me gag often].
Maybe try juicing vegetables to get more in your diet.
That’s what I did too :)
you may also wanna check out earthling ed's channel
You are so inspiring I'm still in my teenage years so still figuring out a good healthy lifestyle and I recently came across your channel went food shopping today and did a good swap and picked up a good dose of fruit and veg then usual!! Thanks sadia always looking forward to ur videos now!!😘💕💕
Even though that is not how we make 'gado-gado' in Indonesia but I am so proud that Indonesian cuisine always wins among any other cuisines. Have you ever tried the steamed beef called 'rendang' ?. That is also soo nice to try. Greetings from an Indonesian living in Amersfoort, the Netherlands.
I was never a big fan of oatmeal until I discovered 1. Scottish oats ( I find they’re creamier and I prefer he texture) and 2. Savoury oatmeal, especially with red onion, kale and veggie apple sausages.
I love oatmeal! I feel like a grandma sometimes because I crave it at night sometimes😅 I leave my pancakes flat too but presentation was gorgeous! Love your videos! And curry is everything🙌
Just want to say that im just finding your channel now and your editing and style of filming is really appealing. The length of your video is perfect, you are clear with your directions but make it look quick, simple and polished! Yay, thank you!

I am from the Southern US so we have either pinto beans, field peas (crowder, black-eyed, purple-hulled) with potatoes (boiled or baked) greens (spinach or collard) and cornbread a few times a week. We add liquid smoke sometimes to flavor the beans or field peas.
I have never seen your channel until it was recommended, and now all I see is so beautiful that I want to cry. Thank yo so much!
Strategic bites is the way to go! And I save up morsels of my favorite topping for the end!
can you do a video on how you wash your dishes and what kinds of dishes you use? (utensils, pots, pans, plates, bowls, jars, etc.)
How do you eat that sandwich without everything falling out?
Whatsittoyou Name they obviously make it differently when not filming
wrap it then cut through paper
I have a better idea. Use a knife and fork just like how you separate and eat a giant burger.
You don't
Haha I was thinking the same thing
I'm an Indian and we have curry all the time yet your cauliflower curry looks yumm and I'm gonna try it real soon
Your channel is my favourite out of the many, many healthy eating channels out there!!!!😁 Have been sharing the link in a few FB mums' groups here in Sydney.😊 By the way, I noticed that there aren't any pics of your wonderful food when I share the link on FB. It's a beautiful pic of you in a natural setting, but those food pics are just evocative!!!😊
Would you be able to do the best and healthiest pot and pans to use??? I am ready to start new and would love any suggestions. I am def.. trying these meals tonight!!! Thank you!
I live in indonesia and Gado-Gado is my absolute favourite vegan meal ever!!

You’re so amazing!
And your audience can see how genuine you are as a person and communicating with us super thank you for that.
I feel so inspired having this healthy living route that I have started to do just 4 months ago ♥️ so happy I bumped in to your channel! I’ve been saving them for treasure keeps!
Gado-gado is my go to everytime I want to eat something healthy 😂 so glad to know that Robin loves it too
Your videos are thorough, informative, uplifting, and IMPORTANT. Thanks for what you do!
