- In this video, I surprised my friend by putting his late-brother's 1967 Pontiac LeMans (GTO clone) convertible back on the road for the first time in 38 years. This 1967 LeMans has nearly every GTO-specific piece on it. Under the hood is a 400 CI Pontiac engine with a Turbo 400 transmission. It was parked back in 1986. The old hot rod was in beautiful shape despite its long hibernation. I had about three and a half days to work on the car while my friend was on vacation. During that time, I did everything the car needed in order to be drivable, plus some cosmetic touches, in about 40 hours. I didn't necessarily have permission to do this from him, but I figured that we were close enough that he wouldn't be upset with the results. My gamble paid off. His reaction was what I had hoped for and we then spent hours talking about everything that him and his brother did to the car back in the 80s. This has been and likely will be the most emotional vehicle revival I'll ever do. Hope you're proud of how your car looks, John.
That's A NOBLE PROJECT FOR A BUDDY! WE ALL SALUTE YOU SIR!!
Thank you much!!
Your a good friend that understands what it’s like to lose someone not to many people would do what you did
I appreciate it! It made me happy to see him excited about the car again
The perfect wheel and tire combination. Whoever doesn't like cragar Wheels and white lettered tires isn't a car guy
I wish I had that car looks like it would be fun to drive.😊
Wow really enjoyed that revival. Can't wait to see what Pontiac you revive next.
I'll have a double feature up next week!
That's a GREAT WAY TO HONOR YOUR FRIEND! WE SALUTE YOUR EFFORTS BROTHER! I'M A PONTIAC ADMIRER FROM ALBERTA CANADA.
Would have loved to see his face when he saw it! Love your enthusiasm! Great job on a great looking car. Those stacked headlights on the Pontiacs were so cool!
Anything with stacked headlights looks killer! He was really happy with it
Man, that thing is coming along. Every time you pan over to the '60 I get excited. I got a 60 Catalina waiting to have its rebuilt 389 installed. I'm chomping at the bit to drive it
Those 60s are beautiful cars! That'll be on the next video
Wow, what a great thing you have done here for him. You are a great friend. I sure hope he liked it. Now I must know his reaction!!
He loved it and it was great to hear stories of him and his brother working on it
Really enjoy your videos, keep it up!
Man that really sucks if the kid graduated in 84 then that means he was only 23-24yrs old when he passed but he definately had to been one cool ass kid to have a sweet hotrod like this I absolutely love it...
Thank ya much! It gets a reaction out of people in town because it's so well remembered. One of his good friends was in tears when she saw it after all this time
That car is so cool. Your buddy going to shed tears I bet you!! Your a Great Friend and the Brother up above Smiling Down On You!! God Bless You!!! It's nice to see Good People on this u tube doing great things. I think I'll send you a video of my resurrection of my Poncho
WHY didn't you tape the reaction when he saw it after all the work you put into it???
Bet he didn't get permission to touch the car before he pulled it out and worked on it. You see several cars on other sites were people just set their loved ones cars aside as a memento. Bet the brother was not happy when he returned.
@@kennyparker1819I did not get permission but he was thrilled. I didn’t feel right recording a reaction to something so emotional
Awesome car, ty for sharing. Would have nice to see Mark's face when he sees it.
TY once again.
That sounds like my 67 Grand Prix convertible. Oh yeah!!!
Hey watch we detailing on you tube as those guys show what they use and give you good insight 👍👍👍👍

What do you have in your garage?
@@ChiefClassics besides a garage full of engines and all kinds of other Panchos parts 65 Catalina 66, Grand Prix 67, 68,69 Bonnieville’s 68 Lemans, 68GTO in the newest is a 79 Trans Am and I got an oddball 1970 Javelin Way too many cars but I love messing with them
@@SteveJohnson-l3v sounds a lot like our place! We have lots of 59-67 Pontiacs of all models, plus a 75 Grand Am, some Trans Ams, a Camaro, and a couple other Chevys, Fords, and Mopars!
You’re really good on these Pontiac’s and that’s a solid for your friend. You seem to get em running pretty easy. Thanks for sharing your work.
💯👊👍
Lets help him out and subscribe to the channel! Thanks for watching 😊
What about the 67 GTO hard top beside it I'm liking it
It's my partner's high school car. It might make an appearance on here
@@ChiefClassics yes 66 67 GTO had top are the best looking GTO s enjoy your videos man
@@davehotz7810 greatly appreciate it Dave!
Add hyd fluid for top. Great job man your cool
I have a Pontiac v8 engine with #46 heads and it has 350 cast in on the block near the fule pump
Should check the tag on the firewall too see if it is a real GTO with lemans QuarterPanels👍👍💯💯
Cool vid 👍👍
Great job, really enjoyed...i subd😊
Appreciate it Todd!!
Would you be interested in any 64 Bonneville convertible parts?
Interesting my 67 Le Mans has disc front drum rear.
Do you still have the Grand Prix for sale
Them old school muscle cars was like a good woman nose down rear end up
It's definitely a GTO I had a 67 Pontiac Tempest and the lights are solid in the back not slotted
The owner confirmed it's a Lemans. Had the tail panel swapped out. The only "Lemans" pieces it still has is the quarter panel scallops and the Pontiac script on the header panel. It's a pretty darn good clone!
@@ChiefClassics Just came across this. I have a 67 GTO, and it looks more like a GTO that had the quarters from a Lemans put on, rather than the reverse. So many GTO-only parts! But the VIN tag always tells.
Weird someone would clone a lemans into a gto in the 80s . Didn’t think that got popular until the last 20 years . Even changed the tail pan .
Checck brakes after removing rust. 0:04
Tell me engine code. Xx. What heads
Tell me engine code. Xx. What headss
Open master top off
Figure out what the vin says and go from there. See if it’s numbers matching which I doubt.
Turn up idle
I'd 63 Olds for sale
Okay then what it's like three pages of a book dude.
