The factors that make those cars "bad" are ridiculous. A car from 1918 without A/C - thats unacceptable. A Duesenberg costing as much as a house in Beverly Hills is using too much gas, also unacceptable. And a 1950s land yacht is difficult to find a parking space for, who would have thought. All those cars in Leno's collection are marvels of automotive history, else he would not have bought them.
It is akin to a communist attacking free enterprise huh, (as communism steals it from us). Yea, that might be it. :)
@@petebeatminister the parking deal is comical, how often do you see a long bed ,Crew cab pickup parked square in a parking space? Never if it’s right in front of a store with no room to swing out. Hell they’re seldom parked right when in the middle of a giant “free form” parking lot. And they are six foot longer than any 50s passenger car . That doesn’t make them useless, or bad ..The fact that they seldom , if ever carry a full load of passengers, and a bed full of of cargo,tools, blah blah blah. Now THAT MAKES THEM “BAD”
The operator who takes up more parking spaces that allowed , that’s that BAD part of the scenario. And I never could afford a Duesenberg SJ or a house in Beverly Hills , but if FORCED to drive that old car, or live in That neighborhood, I think I could bare the weight and still hold my head up high.
And I doubt that Leno had any part in this production, or even consented to it . And as others have said if he thought they were Lemons or milestones around his neck, he would trade them for something more important. So that tells me that this is someone else’s opinion not Jays.

1957 Roadmaster is one of the prettiest cars of the 50s. And any genuine Imperial or 300 is perfect for me.
On watching this video, I have come to the conclusion that the content creator has limited knowledge of automobiles in general and of the significance of the subject cars in particular. All of these cars have interesting mechanical or historical aspects and are worthy of appreciation. They are not bad by any way. I also don't apreciate the random pictures of engines inserted in this video that dont match the engine being discussed.

The Chevrolet Nomad is not part of Jay Lenos collection. It belongs to one of this employees. The Duesenburg that you showed was called the 20 Grand is once again not part of his Collection, it is part of the Peterson Collection.

This is not Jay Leno's opinion so who else should care; personally I'd have any one of these totally awesome vehicles.
I could only stand the first 60 seonds before I paused; when the voice says a 1941 fire engine was built in the early '40s, I immediately thought of the kid who has to write a 500 word paper, restating the obvious as often as possible.
I think I'll watch something else.

Before Ford developed the the automobile assembly line, only the rich could afford a car.
But it was Eli Whitney, (yes, the inventor of the Cotton Gin, which he made no money from.), who built some muskets for the army, and developed "interchangeable parts", to make an assembly line possible. You are right about the gas mileage. Gas was inexpensive pretty much 1980. I remember in the late seventies it was only $0.50 for several years, and only about 15/20 cents a gallon in the late 60's. It was not an issue in the USA Muscle car era. Nobody asked you what the gas mileage was on a big block 350hp engine, and the owner probably did not know. :)
By the way, I had a teacher in public HS 1979 ish who owned a "Duzzey". he was not rich. :) In fact the old saying "That's a Duzzey!" (something really good), can from the Duesenberg's.

The silver 1932 Duesenberg S doesn’t belong to Jay, it’s part of the Nethercutt Collection in Sylmar.

Automakers pushed MPG in 1940's-50's... even the 1950's Chrysler Hemi was advertised as good MPG on regular gas... like 17 MPG...

None of these cars are the worse cars in Jay's garage! They are all limited production cars that are unique and which appeal to enthusiasts for their power and handling. You can't criticize an old car because it doesn't have air conditioning or gets bad gas mileage, you just can't and calling it the worse car in Jays garage is an insult to car collectors everywhere!
How could anyone be so wrong? These are classics, destined to be recognized many, many years from now. They have gone through the most stringent evaluation. They are included in one of the greatest collections on this earth.

The 1957 Buick Roadmaster was/is gorgeous, and the 1961 Chrysler 300 is to kill for! The 1958 Imperial Convertible is drop-dead gorgeous, not to mention a rare beauty. This video is BS!
The 1918 Cadillac at 6:20... A superb example of Cadillac luxury. If you had a clue what an engine looks like you would recognize one cylinder bank of Cadillac's signature "flathead" V8 engine of that era, a decade before Ford developed its lower cost flathead V8 for the mainstream market segment.
