    I had my Model S P85+ for over 3 years. In the beginning the rear jump seats were really cool. But the novelty soon wore off as there were clearly put in as an afterthought. There is no ventilation in the rear. So in the summer heat it is really bad. We rarely use the rear jump seats because of this omission of cooling.
    But in a pinch and when you really need to carry up to 5 adults and 2 kids, then you can use the rear jump seats for any short 20 minute trips. Anything longer you will need to buy some kind of cooling back there for the kids.
    Restrictions for the seats per the manual are:
    "The Tesla built-in rear facing child seats are child restraint systems and must only be used for children over 37" (94 cm) tall and weighing between 35 and 77 lbs (16.2 to 35.2 kg)."
    I bought two things for them when they sit in the back. A misting fan and also a battery operated bigger fan.
    Links are below:
    Misting Fan

    Automotive Dual power fan

      Ford Explorer I had, the third row was behind the rear axle along with any SUV that tries to cram a 3rd row of seats back there. My minivan's 3rd row is barely above the rear axle. Pretty much any vehicle with a 3rd row of seats would crush people in the back if a large vehicle rear ended it. Thank goodness for airbags.

    • @justinstevenson2061
      @justinstevenson2061 3 года назад

      Not knocking the guy videoing at all. Jjst my .02 I mean some people have different ideas of hot and cold and are very serious about being constantly climate controlled.
      What do you run your heat to in the winter? So then why cool at 70 deg?
      I think the people that run heat overnight in their home and then ac in the day with the temp change to always stay at some perfect temp are a bit dramatic in that sense.
      Open the windows. I’ll let the house get down to mid to low 60’s overnight then put the heat back up once awake (in cool weather)
      Same to be said for ac. Has to be low-mid 80s before ac goes on. Doesn’t always need to be pinned to 70.
      I find conserving the energy - while still realistically not being uncomfortable is fine.

    his reaction to you wanting to close the liftgate is exactly what I expected and feared. Nobody wants to sit back there. Saw another video of a kid actually riding back there and his neck was getting jerked about every time his dad accelerated. what do you consider lots of money? doctors don't make much. they come out owing tons of money for the 7 years of schooling. the people that make more than doctors are not even doctors. look it up, it isn't rocket science. anesthesiologist make twice as much! LOL, if you want to make money be an anesthesiologist. much less schooling and you make more than twice what a regular doctor makes!

    How can you let your kids sit in the back? It's not safe in a high speed crash. You always want some space between the bumper and occupant. The more the better. That's why seven seaters are not a good idea unless it's a large long SUV.

      who cares if it is safe? You are facing the wrong direction while the car is moving it is obviously very narrow and not comfortable at all for your children, no windows, no fresh hair, it gets warm sooner. Just because it is an option and it costs money doesn't mean it is a good solution. I must say my dog's place in the car is far more comfortable than your children's one and also safe enough not to die in an accident without travelling like a luggage.

      Davide Malacrida Your dog will die in an accident regardless. None of the safety features in the car are made and tested on dogs. You are judging a option with zero knowledge or experience. There is fresh air if you turn it on. The heat issue is just a problem in the summer not in the spring, fall, or winter. I wouldn't put a dog back there it is too good for a dog and not made to protect a dog. Some people are so closed minded and have an opinion on anything that they have zero experience with. You are not qualified.

      What exactly tells you I'm not qualified? I've seen teslas by person and I know what I'm talking about. Regardless some people buy things just to spend money without using their brain. You are crearly one of them. Have a good day.

    This is not safe at all I've seen photos of The Tesla model s with the rear jump seats, being rear ended by a semi or a SUV and the whole structure collapses I do not recommend this AT ALL.

      You can watch a video on this very website of the crash tests. I dont get the logic of some people moaning about these rear seats. if you dont like it thats fine. Just dont complain about them not being safe when theyre the safest place to be in the car.

    • @Leo-ph5dk
      @Leo-ph5dk 6 лет назад

      Gabe_N was it a model with rear seats, because I believe Tesla improves the strength of the back when you order a model with those extra rear seats

    • @keyed_6727
      @keyed_6727 6 лет назад +1

      the model s gets reinforcement added if you select rear jump seats. If you don't select rear jump seats then obviously the reinforcement isn't added and the trunk becomes part of the crumple zone.
