In regards to the Model X, there are 3 seating options: 5, 6, or 7 seats. The 6 seat layout is actually MORE expensive than the 7 seat due to the captain-style chairs. Of course, the 5 seat option is the cheapest of the three if you're just looking to get into a Model X at the most affordable price. The Model X will also have an adjustable air suspension for a smoother ride and you can raise or lower it to get in and out of steep driveways. So the X is larger in physical size, larger battery, air suspension, falcon-wing doors, gauge cluster behind the steering wheel, more technology like auto presenting doors that open and close, etc. These are the things to consider if the price difference is worth it to you. Oh, and Rodriguez daughter...superstar!
This has been the best Tesla (for a family ) review I have seen ! I have been wanting the X but couldn’t pull the trigger because of the cost. Seeing the Y and X together , it’s the Y for me. The $40k more on the X is for those doors that just aren’t practical for us. Thanks for doing this.
The doors are extremely practical. Especially with a family when all doors open for you, and ten times easier to get in and out of the car
I’m a single guy with no kids I don’t really have need for these vehicles but I’m really impressed with the actual in-depth practical review if I was looking for something like this this is exactly the way I want someone to review it.

With us having two kids aged 2 years old and a 7 month, the Y provided us enough space. Depending on how big the family, I see the Y dominating for most families at that price point. This video has me excited for our delivery date!

my only major concern for the model y 7 seater is what happens if you have older child or small adult in the back seat and the Model Y hits a big bump. How hard is that impact on the back roof/window going to be if the kid/adult bouncing hits. Also I wonder what the impact to EPA range would be for fully loaded (7 people with stuff) vs 1 person with no stuff. I am guessing that EPA tests with no stuff.
As a mom of 3 toddlers/babies , I would go for model X 6 seats because I won’t be able to put down most of the seats anyway. I got 3 car seats and need to go to the back to check their seatbelts.

I am not a big fan on White interior because it gets dirty looking over time. Especially with kids.
I have a 3, soon to be Y so I would buy the Y but I still think the X is the best looking Tesla. It just looks so badass to me. Y has better charging and tech
I have 3 kids with a model 3. The Y is nice, but for $20k more I couldn’t justify it only being 10% bigger then the 3. No complaints

I just got my model Y 3months ago and I love it! But if I could afford the X that’s what I would’ve chosen. It just something about the model X 🤦🏽♀️ the doors and it way more roomy. Btw, I love your neighborhood😍 great video!

Both great cars. For those who like sleek minimalist look, then the Model Y is suitable for them. For those who like more noticeable options, then Model X is suitable for them.
Kudos on a superb video. Perhaps one of the best comparisons out there on RUclips. I am on the fence about any sort of Tesla as a father of 3 little kids (6/3/6 weeks). This is making my decision path more comfortable. Appreciate your hard work on putting this together!

Yeah, exactly. It's just too small. I think it's funny that it's marketed as an SUV. If anything, it looks more like a full size sedan/crossover.

you should sit on the passenger side of the 3rd row. I couldn't fit my feet under the seat. the rails won't let me put my feet/shoes side by side. the driver side is "larger" because the rails are supporting the left and mid second row seats, hence it's wider. the passenger side rails is supporting only the right side 2nd row seat. the rails are closer together. the only way to "set" my feet on the floor (while on the passenger side 3rd row seat) is either pushing the 2nd row seat forward to get more room and putting each feet on each rail. Or putting my left foot in front of the driver side 3rd row seat and my right foot in front of me. I'm not tall, 5'5" with size 9.5 shoes. did I miss a technique in how to sit in the 3rd row?
Most people can’t afford a $100,000 car like the model X, the model Y is the most affordable. Both the model X and Y are expensive, but the model Y is more like an economy version of the X.
You can adjust 3rd row leg room in the Y while you’re sitting back there - just hold the button on the shoulder of the second row seats and move them forward or back.

You guys did a good job of showing in real time the space in these vehicles, I have been eyeing these things hard and honestly feel that for my families need, it would be best to save the money on the bigger car and get the smaller car

Family of six with a Sienna and model 3. At 6’6” and using the easy entry on the 3 no one wants to sit behind even our smallest child. Also the 3’s belts in the rear are a pain with boosters. For what the X costs I would need Sienna type room in all 3 rows. Wish they would have made an X XL or something.
Yeah, these cars just aren't practical for large families. They need to make van sized electric cars.
We’re a family of 7 and I currently drive a Yukon XL to accommodate my kids (2, 5, 9, 11, and 12) because I don’t want them cramped. They do lots of activities so I need room for sports equipment, Colorguard flags, etc. I want an electric vehicle but what’s on the market currently just won’t cut it for my family sadly
Do a side video of the Y and a group of 7 people getting in going to a location getting out, then all getting in, mix the seating up and video back and the pros and cons, then do it with the X
X is a massive flex SUV, Y is amazing utility in smaller form.

Great comparison of the space within the X and Y! Good explaining the measurements, and the impromptu activity of everyone.
For us it was about space. Our kids are only the size they are for a small time, shorter than it is for when we own the car. Our kids will be absolutely squished in a Model Y with the 3rd row. If only they would make an affordable Model X.
I wish they made the X with traditional doors and the glass roof. The debate was settled when you saw how much bigger the 3rd row was and how much easier the 6 seat configuration made it to access in the model X.

Great video! That poor girl's feet will pop off if they get in an accident and that seems scary to me. I get that the price is less and that is a decent option for that scenario but the helicopter windshield, extra nav screen, auto doors including front doors, air suspension, better audio system, larger space, faster acceleration, additional range, new screen in back, new ventilated seats, 6 seat option for more modern and open space cabin, and other factors definitely justify the extra cost. If you want electric and the X is not an option, and your 3rd row crew is small, this definitely could "work". Tesla really needs to make the Cybertruck an SUV also. That would provide a large 3rd row option and the price would be quite low for the size assuming it's a 7k-10k upgrade from the standard truck price.
Just took a test drive of the Model Y 7 seater. The 3rd row was useless. Even my 5 yr old was so uncomfortable sitting back there even with the 2nd row seats moved forward. As a 5 seater the Model Y is super spacious.

Is there an ac vent for the 3rd row? Is the trunk glass going to feel (very) hot in the middle of the day? I don't see the 3rd row very comfortable.
It actually is really comfortable at least for me in the back, the glass in the back is not very hot. I am 5 feet tall and it is very comfortable.

Without rear A/C in the third row, the model Y is a non-starter in places like AZ with temps over 110 degrees.

That second row is vertical on the recliner, the idea is that you move it forward and recline it a bit. Great content!!!

Wow the seats fold really nice and flat great if you want to put a couple of dogs in the back.
So many ev's have terrible seat folding but this Y reminds me of the way a prius seats fold down to make a nice flat area.
unfortunately, for some reason, Tesla is not currently offering the model Y with 7 seat in the UK
I foresee a trade-in for you in the near future, Kim. Frankly, I'm tempted to do the same. It's not as if I have kids to accommodate, however, so… I'm thinking I'll hold off until the Y comes with Tesla's new 4860 battery… and thus even more range.
