Thank you for the video and seating arrangement perspective! I just placed my Model Y order (with the third row option) using your referral link, thanks so much!
Kate, thank you for this vidoe which demos how useful the 3 row can be! I have been debating back and forth if I should get the 3rd row option. Too many people telling me the 3rd row is useless only for little kids. However, your NO NONSENSE video actually showed kids, your teen and an adult sitting in the 3rd row seat! Thank you! There is no other website that does this with real live humans! You have a very beautiful family Kate! Your kids are SO co-operative! If my kids actually agreed to do something like this, they would be frowning the whole time!!! Keep up the great work! Hope your channel grows to the next milestone!
This is THE most thorough video i've ever seen for the 7 seater. I own a 7 seater and was wondering how we were going to use the 3rd row when family is in town, now I have ideas! Thank you
thank you so much for this video! my wife and i are hesitating between 5 or 7 seats model Y and we have 2 kids but the grandparents visit us occasionally. initially we were worrying if the 3rd row don't have any legroom for the kids. but watching your video we now clearly see how it actually looks like, and kids seem fine in the back (not to mention our kids are even smaller, 2 yrs and 6 yrs). thank you Kate
Thank you so much for taking the time to make the video. Great demonstration. I was debating, but after this video, i am getting the 7 seat option. Rather having the option, and fold it down when not using. It is nice to have it during emergency
This is the first time I see the 7 seater... Really nice how thoughtful this concept is! And especially that you still have space in the trunk with a full occupation... Thanks for this insight 😊
excellent video from what I could get from video it seems the 7 seater is best suited and good only for short trips and kids and for those rare circumstances where extra passengers need to ride along
exactly! I agree. BUT, this is exactly how many people can use it - for short city driving distances that require the occasional 6th or 7th passenger. For eample, we are a family of 4, but one time I took my 2 neices to the movies, we could easily fit 6 for the short ride to the theatre and back. It's for purposes like this that the 3rd row becomes a very HANDY option
I love our MY 7 seater. I have 5 kids ages 15 to 1.5 years. It works because my wife is short (5’1). We move her all the way and she says it is still comfy. We have have rear facing booster behind her. To teens also in the middle. 10 year old and 8 year old in 3rd row. Plus a stroller in the trunk. It is a little tight in 3rd row. Once car seats is no longer rear facing then it’ll be much better. I’m 6’0 but skinny. So I have to move my chair up a little more too. But I’m still comfy. So far so good!
In Europe we are used to Fiat 500, which is pretty common also for families. The legroom on the 3rd row on the model Y is actually better than the one on the 2nd row of the fiat 500...I'd definitely go for it!
Great demonstrations! I'm definitely all about a Tesla minivan or SUV with captain chairs in the middle. I'm sure they are already thinking one up for the future. This one is perfect for kiddos in the far back though, and I'm sure it is super fun to drive.🎉
Thank you! Yes I would be very interested in a true SUV from Tesla 😍 My boys are only going to get bigger and we will need the space down the road lol!
I thinking about to purchase the tesla brand but the problem here in my place no changing station because it's a little town of Tisdale Saskatchewan Canada great sharing Kate drive safely 😊
You can get one installed at your home 😊 That’s what we did. The closest charging station for us is in Nashville, which is an hour away, so it’s essential to have an at home charger
Going on Turo for a 7 seater and this helps give an idea as we will have 3 baby seats and four adults. Forgot to factor in stroller space and cargo space as a deal maker/breaker. It looks like only a couple of duffles will fit once seats are set to 7 occupants. Probably will need a gas guzzling SUV unfortunately. Nice job though guys!
I had a model x for 2 week while my model 3 was at the shop and honestly the space is very similar . That’s probably why tesla don’t have the third row model Y on display at the store.
Thank you. This video is what I want to consider buying a car which can seat 6 people occasionally. The 3rd row in Model Y doesn't fit for any adult more than 5.5feet
I would just like to mention that while Kate was in the back, her head looked like it would have been hit by the trunk door when closed. Saw that happen on a different video
Kate, when you sat in the 3rd row, can the seat in front of you move forwards a bit more? Or was what you showed already the most legroom for you in the 3rd row? I.e. - for your height, I'd love to see you put the driver's seat to your setting, sit in the 2nd row moved forward as much as possible for you, and then sit in the 3rd row.
If I remember right, the second row was not all the way forward when I was in the 3rd row 🤔 I recently had my 12 year old in the 3rd row with the second row all the way up and he had plenty of room back there!
When seated an adult in the third row, are there adjustments for second row so legroom gets larger for passengers in third row? Also can you convert your height into centimeters?😅 Awesomely made video!
Exactly what I needed to know. It would probably work for my family for the next 5ish years. 3 growing boys close in age, but we are all small. Tesla really needs a mini van option 😢
Love the video!! This was really helpful in determining how much legroom is back there. We were thinking of swapping out our model 3 for a model y and were wondering if we should buy a seven seater. Do you think someone around 5' 3" would be able to sit back there comfortably for around 13 hours?
So glad you loved the video! I think it’s possible if the second row is mostly forward. Also, if you drop the middle seat in the second row it allows a little more airflow for the 3rd row. Hope that helps!
@@kateschwanke Thanks! I think we are going to buy a Model Y Performance, just because we feel like we might not get a lot of usage out of the third row, and we like the looks and speed of the performance. It helped a lot though!! 😄
Great demonstration. When you were sitting in the back row do you think you could sit back there for a road trip? I understand it gets harder past 5ft7 in some other review videos.
Hi there! All of the links for products in this video are in the description box 😊 Hope you find what you’re looking for! If I missed something you are looking for in particular let me know
Can you speak to if the third row configuration with one seat down impedes the access to the seatbelt clip? I saw that he was sitting back there but didn't have the belt on. In the 2021 that we looked at my child couldn't. Buckle without lifting the seat. Doesn't really work if we have a stroller in the car.
Hi! Yes it would! There are latch anchors in the second row, and as long as you adjust the second row further back and dont sit back too far in the front seat, it can accommodate a rear facing child seat. Hope that helps!
No there are not, unfortunately! But you can buy a travel fan like the Luno for back there, and you can also lay the middle seat down in the second row to allow for more airflow

Aw thank you! Wow that would be awesome 😎
I agree!
You're so right!! I've watched so many videos looking for this exact display of space! Shout out Kate!
Great but I wish you showed the trunk space a bit more detailed..

I really appreciate this video and the time it must have taken to make.
Thank you so much! I am so happy to hear it was helpful for you!
Thanks for the video but I was hoping to see what the headroom would be like in the 3rd row for smaller adults with the trunk closed.
Bad.
Doesn't look like the hatch would have room to shut with the 5'2" passenger in the 3rd row
The is the exact video I have been looking for before I order mine thank you.

Great video thank you! Curious if you could close the hatch Kate when you were in the third row?
Beautiful Family wonderful video thank you for sharing!!!

Do you have a link to the mats/liner you have in the video? it looks great
This is fantastic. Confirms why I wanna buy this car with 3rd row. Would only help me with my lil ones
thanks. One little missing scenario though : 2 adults + booster with kid on second row would have been interesting ;-)
