Hey does anyone know if jump seats can only be installed uptill 2020 model ? Is there any hardware modification in the 3rd row / cargo area because these jump seats on ebay or elsewhere mention these can be installed uptill 2020 model. I couldn't find any documention on that. Thanks.
Cool! Yeah my kids love riding back there. Check out my other video on how to keep them cool while they are back there. ruclips.net/video/b8uAbEsNPsg/видео.html
I just bought a 2013 model s and am looking forward to acquiring some rear seats and doing this install. I much appreciate the video. Love the car so far, I am a car guy and the performance, comfort and drivability is amazing.
Awesome video! Thinking of doing the same with my 2014. Not sure if your parts list is also for 2014 model. I'll ask Tesla SC. Going to be watching again many times while doing my instal
WOW really well explained, thank you very much for sharing, I am looking into doing this too for my 2 kids...no idea what that bumper bar part is though?
Find a Tesla approved body shop and tell them you need this part installed: 1015811-s0-b they will order it from Tesla and install it for you. The part is about $150, and then whatever they charge for labor
About $1700 total. The seats are the biggest expense, I found a used set on eBay for $950. Rear bumper reinforcement from the body shop was $450, then about $280 in parts from Tesla
From my research, all the seats are the same. When you are looking for a used set like on eBay for example, not many list the year of the car they came from. The only difference over the years is the hip latch hook that screws to the side of the truck. There are 2 versions of that part, one for early cars and 1 for later cars. Hope that helps
The seat I bought used on eBay. The only other option is to buy it directly from Tesla service Center. However I've heard they will not sell that part directly to the car owner, It may have to be purchased through a body shop just like the rear reinforcement bumper part.
Great video but I have a couple of questions. Could this retrofit be done on a 2019 or 2020 Model S? Also between a 2019-2020 Model S Long Range with the rear facing seats (assuming those could be retrofitted), 2019-2020 Model X Long Range with captains chairs, or a new Model Y (project juniper refreshed one hopefully) Long Range with the 3rd row, which one do you think is the best purchase? I am trying to convince my aunt and uncle to buy a Tesla and the 3rd row seating would be used occasionally (by people around 5 feet tall) but no one would be back there for longer than 20-30 mins.
I'm not sure if the retro fit would work on a newer model S. Someone 5ft tall can't fit in the back of the model S their head would be touching the roof. Juniper Y won't be out until at least 2025 so don't hold your breath on that one. Model X has the most room of all cars but in the most expensive option
Good afternoon Myk, so sitting with a situation as I have the same model Tesla and purchased the seat for the third row. Ordered parts through Tesla as they will not install seats which is fine but they refuse to sell the bolts to me. All other parts are ready for pickup. Any suggestions on this? Thank you so much
What bolts? If they are the bolts for the reinforcement bumper part they usually are already on the car. They wouldn’t sell me the bumper reinforcement part, I had to get that through an approved body shop, and they installed it. Are we talking about the same ones?
Dave’s Body Shop in West Jordan, UT. They were great. Took about a week for them to get the part , and then they installed in 1 day. Total was around $400.
You Bet, Just tell them you need part # 1015811-S0-B installed. I would try to find the seats used. I found mine on Ebay, they range from $800-$1200, I never got a quote on a new Set from Tesla, because I dont think they will sell them directly to you if the car didnt have them from the factory. Check out the description of the video for the other part numbers, those you can get yourself directly from the Tesla Service Center.
@@Myksgarage on the phone with them now! I have some seats ready to go and will use your video to install. Just need the bar install scheduled as well.
@@Myksgarage thanks. Doesn’t sound like it will work any longer for my daughter then. She loved it when she was younger(and smaller) in one of the loaners.

Could the 12 VDC from that switch wire be used to power the 12 VDC outlet you installed for the fans?
I don't think so. Probably needs a direct wire from the 12v battery to make sure it has enough power
I read that there two different hip strikers (Gen 1 vs Gen 2) how do you know which one you need?
I’m not sure, mine is a 2015 and it needed the gen 2

1022449-00-A - torx bolt for barrel nut x2
1014747-00-A - bolts for hip striker x4

It's a rumble seat like an old school station wagon.
Exactly!
Thanks so much for the video. I’m also in slc, do you remember who you talked with at the service center?
Just email them, they will get the parts orders for you and then you just go pick them up. Slc-parts@tesla.com
How much did their project cost you 💰?
I estimated around $1800. The big factor is finding reasonably priced used seats, I found my seats on eBay for around $950
