Day 2 of the ZBrush Summit
Michael Vicente is the man! Such an inspiration. I already loved his work but to hear the process explained is even more mind blowing, and he also seems a really humble and cool dude. Thanks Pixologic for this great inside look on Blizzard's awesome art team work.
Great Thanks Orb. You saved my life many times!
Watching this in 2023 as a 3D student, now we have Overwatch 2, it feels like time travelling
We want to know what content you would like to see more of. Help us out by taking our 2 min survey: zbru.sh/39c
hi guys you should turn on the subtitles
Best thing I've seen all year so far!
Video Thumbnail is @26:59
old but still gold :D
Thank you very much Sir.
Surprisingly interesting, even as someone who doesn't know anything about modelling
Jamie Miller If you ever get a chance you should try it sculpting is ridiculously fun
***** Yea that too, even if its not for something specific its so fun to just make huge mountain ranges and such
Jesus, Birb is JACKED!
Michael said that during BlizzCon 2013 he was sculpting DeathWing bust live there. Is there a video somewhere? Where can I find the process?
7:53
Oh, I know where my eyes are resting...
don't be disgusting
art only for mature people
MellowJelly shut up that’s literally where the eye is drawn to on purpose. That’s the character
@MellowJelly you do realize that's the point of the outfit right?
@@MellowJelly only weird if u make it weird, you wadup, i'm from the future!

>its all on youtube for free
WHOA ITS FREE!! WHOAAAAAAAAAA
Looks promising
ZBrush 4R7 P3 have a problem with the window of the program? The program window is not set to full screen. You can check this by simply pulling the mouse pointer over the right edge of the window.
I hope that in the new version of the program will correct this problem.
I love these
does anyone know how he mirrored the trim slice tool at the beginning of the sculpt?
34:20ish. I swear there is a common theme among Zbrush advice givers. You're like I'm using Zbrush too add environmental detail, they're like "Pro tip, master anatomy". You're like I'm using Zbrush to block out stylized motor vehicles, they're like "Master anatomy bro".
Since our vision is so adapt to pick out fine details of people learning anatomy and being able to create stuff that looks right requires a real discipline that you dont get from other objects. The shape design also helps hugely for mechanical stuff.
i love them
30:36 I think this is the video that he is mentioning showing them making the bronze statue. Forging a Hero - Arthas Statue - Heroes of the Storm

dear i am new to this world of z brush and 3d modelling
I am a sculpture handling original clay materials and other stone wood but i like this software and want to learn it what should i start to learn z brush
please guide
I'd say that learning zbrush would be a good idea for you, if you're used to sculpting with actual clay. There are TONS of walkthroughs/Introduction videos and even Pixologic has a bunch of documentation on zbrush on their website that helps explain the function of certain tools. Though Pixologic has another program called Sculptris that would help get your feet wet (in a sense) with working in 2.5d and sculpting digitally before you jump straight into zbrush (unless you don't mind a fun but challenging learning curve). But I would also suggest learning either Maya, 3DS Max, or Blender for 3D modeling.
But I'd keep in mind, like I said, there's a sharp learning curve for a lot of 3D modeling and digital sculpting programs. You just gotta keep a positive mind! And remember: things take time AND patience!
But I wish you luck!
This has been so useful, thanks!
Good tips from Blizzard!
Great talk, need custom ui links tho!

But still supa cool
Hello everybody, im new at modeling in general and just finished my first monster using ZBrush, it is any place where i can share my atempt to do art and recive some constructive criticism?, it will be great if i can lean more of the community. Thanks you all for the help.
Hi, is it possible to add a link with your (Shannon Thomas) custom interface? or interface of anyone else for that matter..thanks yo ;) btw, great vid. super to see something so advanced

:)thank you..appreciate it
is there a link od something of the Michael "Orb" Vicente Deathwing live demo from Blizzcon?
wow!!!
Anyone know where we can find the Zbrush UI config they promised in this video?
Which version of Zbrush do you have? PM me on Artstation and I'll send you mine if you want.
By Leyendecker do you mean being inspired by his paintings, or did he do some lesson on folds? @shannonthomas
Hello. I meant inspired by. Even with stylized characters, everything is still grounded in reality :-) Sorry for the delayed response.
What video they mention about Arthas 3D printing? I couldn find it :(
For the love of God would someone get Michael a glass of water!!!!
1:26:48 the gold nugget that every 3d artist is looking for at the conference...
thank you for the great tips!
??? game model is over a million polygons or what? this is what it looks like at least. someone mixed the slides huh?
and the choker on the left widow, pls ship this to the default skin, pls!
yeah i'm also confused about that
hey guys. im trying to understand the whole process of making a game and what goes into developing one.
my question is, i want to make a character for the UE4 and im wondering if zbrush could allow me to make a character and import onto UE4 with animation? will there be any difficulties in doing this or should i use a different program to design a character to animate it?
you will have to retopologize in maya or 3dmax as the zbrush version would have too many polygons to work in real time
as for animation you have to rig the character and animate it in maya i think
Yeah you can do this, you can't make animations in Zbrush I think. So you would need another program for that like maya or 3ds max. Texturing and UVing can be done in Zbrush but its best to bake your normal map with another program like xnormal or substance painter. To get a normal map you need a high polycount model and one with a lower amount of polygons, then you can "bake" the details from the high poly onto the low poly. This allows you to get more details into your model without it having a massive amount of polygons, which would really kill the performance of your game.
Oh cool, I've been wondering what "baking" a model is, always forget to look it up tho :P In Zbrush you have the option to "Project All" (I saw the Diablo sculpter do that in this video) would that be the same or do you really need to do it in another program?
you can actually retopologize in zbrush too
Hanzo - nice !
Looks like someone forgot to disable the v-sync
im sorry i not know eng enough. but why too much detail - its bad?
Because denser mesh and more detail means more things for the computer to calculate and keep track of.
Also, in the context of an RPG where the characters are smaller, the details either get lost or looks too crammed into the small space it occupies on screen.
It's about composition, the idea is to have areas of lots of detail, and areas of very little detail. Taking into consideration, Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary Shapes through Clumping, and Grouping.
Here's a great piece on it: www.neilblevins.com/cg_education/areas_of_visual_rest/areas_of_visual_rest.htm
... Neil, is a vet in the game, and has a whole section dedicated to composition well worth reading,, (some available in Russian).
Does anyone know what computer/tablet they are using?
I think the Wacom Cintiq 24HD but im not sure if its exactly this one
What computer model do they use?
cool
好厉害

it's so BORING!
these are people from blizzard!
you are waiting for something incredible, characters from cinematic trailers for example
but in reality the pumped man shows super basic stuff!!
wtf
