- Well I don't think any of us were expecting this right before EVO but we got a new Riot Project L update!
illaoi and free-to-play confirmed plus some Reactions, CLEAN gameplay among some other new things here.
Wanted to take a few minutes to mix things up to do a small breakdown and chat a little while about some of my opinions of this and the state of the game as a whole.

For todays update: Bruiser does everything in his power to not admit he did a reaction video.
I agree 100% with your sentiments about the roster. I truly believe NO ONE is off the table and I cannot wait to see some truly wild charscters tos show up in Project L like Vel'koz or Ivern. Imagine Vel lobbing plasma across the screen at all these angles like (Guilty Gear) Venom on bath salts. Ivern laying down brush to hide his next setup. Honestly even supports like Janna or Karma could work if you have enough imagination.
It was actually my favorite aspect about Legends of Runeterra, the game had a really good balance of popular/iconic champs and more niche champs because they were looking for the right character for the right archtype. After reading the blogpost I'm 100% on board for whoever they announce yet. The wait is gonna be hard but so worth it! Great vid/reaction man. /wall of text lol
Foooor sure man. There wasn't a ton talked about tbh but even it being illaoi that they showed could be HUGELY indictive they are willing to go a little on the wild side of the roster and I am 100 Percent down for that. NGL though already wanting to see what they are going to show next.... lol
A little Challenge for a next video : A Project L adapatation of a support/Enchanter champion (like Janna, or even characters like Soraka or Yuumi (and, with the later, all the problems with Bandle Characters Height)
Ive got one more in the books but FOR SURE I would love to start branching out soon! Especially if it's truly going to be a while before they game really pops off and showcases a full breakdown of what to expect!

I was surprised to see an update. I’d like to see you try and predict the base roster, I know you have your character pitches but I’d to see what you think would be the amount of characters on the games release and which ones they are.
That could be a good one! I have ideas but honestly, this illaoi reveal caught me off guard too I do think they have the potential to really mix up past the obvious choices now so im excited to see where they go!
@@BruiserMinion Yeah me too, seems like they're not only considering the super popular champs and that blog post made me think some mages are gonna make it in.
True! Good idea. Now that they revealed their general methods of picking champs for the roster maybe a more educated guess would be much more possible

I Really hope they put Malzahar in Project L. I think it would be pretty cool to see him play like Dormammu from umvc3 or or Zato from guilty gear. ether way I cant wait to see more of this game.

Yea me too man, might be a bit greedy but im already awaiting the next one! And thanks , I'm glad some other stuff can work I certainly want to branch out more and more as the games gets closer!
I'm pretty sure Illaoi is gonna be armor heavy and Set up character, considering how she uses her tentacles as a set up for left-right mix-up.
Im down with that, and im actually glad she made it this is great plus could mean we WILL be getting some more unique champs outside the obvious status quo of a Fighting Game
@@BruiserMinion I'm not a big fan of Puppet characters, but if they make a puppet character i'm hoping that they pick Kindred or Azir.
Or even Xayah and Rakan by making them 1 character, but that would be hard to implement because these two kinda need to be separated.

That's probably super off the mark if you read their blog post. They dont want her to be a puppet character so they decided that the tentacles only appears on hit/block
Jhin would be such a interesting pick. There is a large amount of people who have always liked the charismatic and calculating psychopath trope, so Jhin's mechanic of everything's a systematic pattern of 4 would be such a fun yet weird playstyle.
IMO really think he would fit more as that one gimmick character in fighting games who uses traps and planning (his E + W combo) than Caitlyn, Teemo and Shaco.
Agreed he would be amazing! Me and TheSkilledRoy did a character pitch video on the channel that he wrote, he's one of my top picks at this point id say!
I mean everyone is expecting this game to come out at EVO 2023 or Riot's anniversary in 2023. It's expected for this game to come out at the same time as Arcane Season 2
It's gonna be a long year. lol
Hopefully beta comes around early 2023 and game launches officially mid 2023 to join EVO (if Rito wants to)

I like to see a gameplay video of Annie. Since she's the mascot girl of LOL and one of the starter characters, she's likely to make the cut of Project L.
She would be a great one too especially after seeing enchanter being pretty spot on here from DNF Duel!
Riven and Aatrox are often thought of similar. And they are, 100%. But they both have gotten truly different fighting styles. Aatrox is big, bulky and does a ton of damage and is a bit more of the pokey instead of being full on rushdown like Riven. His deathbringer stance passive also gives him and his super would be like Golden Frieza where he grows stronger and maybe even gives him lifesteal? Also transforming makes him able to manuever fast.
His W could be a combo extender of some kind.

The reason the framerate was janky before is because they rendered their entire update video in 24 FPS, to match the footage of Tom and Tony. Really bugs me when companies do this, Multiversus did the same thing with its gameplay reveal 😅

@@BruiserMinion it’s nothing that was officially stated, I can tell because that’s what it looks like rendering higher framerate video down to lower framerate (from experience)

Illaoi is a really good character to add in general cause of her fighting style and the fact that shes completely different from the other female characters in league.
Yea agreed! She has such a distinct design and it really does have amazing character flavor - especially seeing her fully fleshed out for Ruined King was great so I'm stoked to see more of that here!

Anyhow, I've been pondering how they'll add someone like Kled, seems kinda hard with his rather short stature, but could be extremly cool.
Leeeeeets goo! Kled would be wild but I think he could work if Skarll was either some sort of call-in ability - Like Harley Quinn calling her Hyenas in Injustice 2 - OR it was like an install super that he could mount up for a brief duration!
Have you considered doing a video trying to predict what the starting roster of the game will look like? I'm asking mainly because Professor Thorgi confirmed he won't be doing a Build The Roster episode for this game, so we need someone else to fill that hole in our hearts.
Probably going to be a bit before I would be yea I'd love to do something like that for sure man! even some speculation on mechanics and things like that could be fun as we get into what will likely be another dry spot for actual news again

Dude, pls now that Udyr was fully revealed, you could make a "put Udyr in Project L", he has a LOT of potential as a stance rushdown/grappler character
Yea ngl I knew id want to make that happen once his rework was shown and they did not disappoint! Might have to happen sometime soon

Udyr would be THE perfect stance character for sure. Id really like to see what happens with his rework, but then for SURE Project L needs to happen.
@@BruiserMinion here's how to make him in project L. directional specials chage the stances and the neutral special is an attack for each stance. i will go in more details when we have more info

I’m betting on a 2023 release. Somewhere around late 2023. We’ll probably get a beta in mid 2023(Like summer time. Perhaps July or August). Then they’ll release the game in November I think. If not, then early 2024 is my next guess.
Beta next year would be great! I think makes a lot of sense too but man it feels like the release date could be six months to about 3 years from now. lol
I think illaoi should have a move with her tentacle that works like scorpion's spear

I dont even Know if we can count Katarina as a character they've shown. I dont remember, but did they ever show any gameplay of her? or did we just see a few screenshot of her on a distant computer? Could be to continue with diversity in character reveals so its not so obvious, or so that the roster does look too skewed (2 Noxians, 2 Zaunites, and an Ionian at the time). But it could also indicate that she was either canned, or she isnt in a state that they are ready to show off yet either.
Yea she was active is very early footage running around but your right I think a lot of people are doubting she's "Confirmed" at this point because it is a bit strange they haven't shown her again. But your point of not trying to double dip on noxus already makes a lot of sense maybe they just wanna spotlight more unique champs for now!

Can't wait to school my grandkids in Project L 4 lol
Yeah, we aren't geting this game anytime soon. After this update, i'm convinced it's late 2023 at the earliest.
Btw, you can keep doing the pitch videos even after it's released. I think they will eventually try to add every champion to the game but that's ganna take at least a decade.
Yea I agree, but oh well! get it nice and polished I can take that. But that's true - I imagine this will be a long-supported game (or at least I hope so) and tons of fighting games double or triple in roster size so should keep me busy a while if I can keep things interesting pitching DLC
