I would like to see you begin to review phones in key aspects of use like battery, software, update policy, comparison to the competition, camera etc. These are the things that matter most to prospective buyers.
What many people do not understand about pop-up cameras is that they take up a lot of internal space. From an engineering standpoint, that is a problem if you're expecting the latest and greatest features every year. After all, there's only so much room inside every device.
Personally I don't even want a selfie camera at all. Regardless, though, notchless display for me is really probably the top "feature" on my list, so there's really very little I wouldn't sacrifice for a popup cam or whatever was "minimum effort" enough to satisfy the market as being a suitable selfie cam. That said, they put an IR blaster in this thing, so it seems to me like there was a bit of room to spare :) I know the popup cam takes up more space than that (as I've done a full replacement on the full popup assembly), but I would also happily give up some of the cooling components or even battery capacity if it got that hole off my display.
@@lindigj in fact, they added the IR blaster because it takes up less than 1 mm of space. In addition, it's a feature that some people have been asking for for a long time. Personally, I really don't care about an IR blaster. However, The mechanics for the pop-up camera take up considerably more space and it's difficult to make that comparison. For example, 1 + took a lot of heat for removing the alert slider on the 10T. Again, it was purely a matter of internal space. 1 + was hell-bent on building their new 125 watt supercharging into that particular device. As a result, very few people purchased it because of the lack of an alert slider. The alert slider is a Hallmark of their phones and I didn't like that either. Still, it was either that alert slider or the 125 watt supercharging. LOL At any rate, you may feel that you'd prefer losing the vapor Chambers and cooling systems on the device but, you wouldn't feel that way when it started overheating. Besides, that will never really be a compromise in having a notchless device. I find the hole punch to be the best solution. Still, I wish the 12 would place it in the upper left-hand corner like they did on so many other previous generations of phones. Again, you can't have everything. LOL
@@lindigj They managed to put popup camera into 7 Pro which is lighter and slimmer. So it is doable. I still have it but will upgrade to 12, but as you, I would highly prefer no hole. There are some phones without holes in display but they are not what I want. Will get the 12, hoping they will do eventually under display camera. I think it will not be next year, but maybe in 2 years.
Thanks for the review! I had a couple questions that. How are accidental side touches with the curved screen? And second, and my only peeve from previous OnePlus…when playing music, does the Lock Screen widget have music scrubbing yet? Many, if not all, other android smartphones and iOS has it, but it’s been missing from Oxygen OS.
Yes i do want to know the same. The curved display is stopping me to preorder. If any OnePlus user sees my comment please tell if there happens any accidental touches on the edge of curved display ? Or the software is smart enough to ignore that accidental touches
I really like my OnePlus 12 and enjoying everything about it.but coming from Samsung recently i noticed some few things missing like the phone dialer doesn't give you freedom to copy and paste things as you wish as it lacks a proper clipboard.i also noticed the gallery app is missing and i had to really try alot of apps on the play store to get one that serves me well and without those annoying ads.
In the other markets when this was earlier released, some users reported a small gap at the top and bottom camera on the edge, do you notice any gap still there?
No brainer to avoid... OxygenOS is so bad in battery optimization and the brand will ignore it after getting your money. Prefer to pay more for Xiaomi or even Samsung.
i have a question, i want to buy it but i dont like the fact that it has the maxiumu capacity option to see because i had an iphone and i went there to check every single day i dont like it at all can i turn off that setting somehow

Hello Nick Could you give us a overview of the weight of this set this is 220gms without a case. So when a case also comes, how does the weight affect our hands if we plan to use it for our daily driver and a lot of phone calls ?
I have an important question for me. Can I make music apps play previous, next song by swiping back and forth and down with double fingers when the phone is turned off?
Always owned a samsung s series and switched to a new one every 2 years. But phones dont make huge changes anymore the last few years. So i picked the one plus 12. This time and im going to use it for 4 years
Amazing phone as always from Oneaplus,i had all brands, but OnePlus,Iphone and Sony are my favourites( this was just an intro😁 not to get me wrong) So here comes the big minus- it had no AI tehnology, every flagship gonna have it this year,Iphone 16 also. But there will probably be another great OnePlus unit till the end of this year
The 12 has the snapdragon 8 mark 3 too tho, and it has the same AI cores that the samsungs are using, so if oneplus decides to join the bandwagon with AI then i feel like this phone is pretty future proof for getting some functions... i hope
Im probably gonna pick this up as im getting a bit fed up with the lack of water resistance in my redmagic 8 pro, i dont even game on my phone much so i dont know why i bought a redmagic

Probably at 1000fps
120hz screen run it at 120 fps. You'll see no difference if it goes higher
Maybe I missed him talking about it but how many years of software updates does this phone get?
4 yrs software, 5 yrs security updates
@@lindigj 👍
Can’t wait for the One Plus 13 😊
Does the 12R model have the eye comfort options?
yes
iPhone 15 plus vs one plus 12 which is better sir... Overall performance which is best pls reply
Hey what settings did you have it on that battery lasted 21 minutes, I charged to 100 and was just watching RUclips battery didn't stay on 100 for 21 minutes
Hello Nick
Could you give us a overview of the weight of this set this is 220gms without a case. So when a case also comes, how does the weight affect our hands if we plan to use it for our daily driver and a lot of phone calls ?
My 12 I've had since launch has been amazing loving it.
Does it have RAM expansion like OP7t? Glad i held off from getting the OP11.
No it doesn't. Comes stock 16gb. Right now they're having a promotion where the 16gb version is the same price as the 12gb version.
Ram expansion using stockage ? Yes he has it
Love your reviews from Morocco ❤❤❤
WOW, this may be my next phone. Great, honest review
Worth upgrading from a Pixel 7 Pro ?
Can’t answer that for you but I have a Pixel 7 Pro as well and I’m tempted to add the One Plus 12 to my collection.
Yes!! The battery life and charging speeds will make you very glad you switched!!
Hello what better s23U vs OP12???
Op12
OP12 is better overall except for the cameras and speakers...and no SPen if that matters to you 😅
What are the black & white dots in the fourth camera hole? Sensors? Beauty spots?
Its to make more natural colors while using your camera
Nice review really excited waiting for mine to show up as we speak
I love My OnePlus 12 ❤
S23 ultra or op12???
I have an important question for me. Can I make music apps play previous, next song by swiping back and forth and down with double fingers when the phone is turned off?
It's available in oxygen os 14 on my op 9 pro, so it should be available there too
Sold. I will order mine next week.
Never had a oneplus device it looks interesting
Always owned a samsung s series and switched to a new one every 2 years. But phones dont make huge changes anymore the last few years. So i picked the one plus 12. This time and im going to use it for 4 years
Same here from s2 to s22 now but I got tired of this. I hope op12 will be better
But there will probably be another great OnePlus unit till the end of this year
Ehh samsung got those ai because they have been partnering with google. Pretty sure google gonna release their own version in the future
The 12 has the snapdragon 8 mark 3 too tho, and it has the same AI cores that the samsungs are using, so if oneplus decides to join the bandwagon with AI then i feel like this phone is pretty future proof for getting some functions... i hope
@imfree62 thats what i said?
OnePlus getting ai features now 😁
Iphone 15 plus or Oneplus 12 which has better camera and better for gaming(BGMI)?
OnePlus 12 for both
Gaming karna hai toh one plus 12...north India se ho toh iphone 60 hz k saath bhi bomb jaisa heat karega...one plus 12 k saath cooling chamber bhi hai
Im probably gonna pick this up as im getting a bit fed up with the lack of water resistance in my redmagic 8 pro, i dont even game on my phone much so i dont know why i bought a redmagic
The cameras look great
My only concern is the size. 6.82 inches? Yikes..I've been using the S23 that's 6.1 inches.
S22 here, changed from s9+ but i regret the smaller size because of the battery. I'm planning to buy op12, I'm tired of samsungs.
@@IstvanDarabos I got the S24+ and returned it and got the base galaxy S24. Can't carry around a 7-8 inch phone they're bricks. But it's each person's preference. I agree the battery is a huge drawback however.
6.4 is the sweet spot
OnePlus always comes ip68 build standard even though they're not tested to ip68
How did you get the number to be red on your clock
Does it has MEMC?
which weather app is that?
It’s like the Xbox series s of smartphones. I was thinking to get this phone one day, just to try something different but also has a similar experience to samsung
Uhh... I am not sure where you are getting that impression from. Series S is straight booty cheeks, and this thing goes toe to toe in every way except camera. I would recommend the Series S to literally no one, and this is already looking like a guaranteed top 3 phone of the year.
The OnePlus 12R seems like a much better buy.
It is cheaper but not as high end, both are good deals
I agree except that the phones I've seen from the 12r look pretty rough compared to the S23fe, Pixel 7a
@imfree62 was originally looking for a phone. Settled on an S22 Ultra which samsung offered only £300 for, insane.
same back texture like the 11? or different?
Same
Have the 7t for the past 6 years. Didn't exchange but got the Oneplus12. I was basically bored by the 7t🥱 because it wouldn't die, wouldn't hang, wouldn't misbehave in any way, was fast and did pretty much everything one needs on a daily basis. Just wanted to get this for a change😅
Good review and phone seems packed with features but oneplus support and software updates are sketchy.. therefore I would avoid.
They allow to unlock the bootloader. Don't like the stock rom? Replace it with Lineage OS
Why aren’t they mainstream in the USA? Too bad it’s not on Verizon
Because the US is obsessed with iPhones. I agree as an American, I hate it
Ive currently got an s24 ultra, but picking up this one this week...ill be returning one of them next week. We shall see
Can you please share with us which one you ended up keeping and why? Thanks
So? What is your verdict?
What, did you do lad
I sold my S24 Ultra and got the OP12.
Hi Nick
Thanks for your time and honest review. Is oneplus stepping away from pure android that we see on pixel phones? This is a big deal as BBQ companies are kind of unifying their ecosystem!
Mauricio, porque voce foi ensinar esse bolo maravilhoso? Agora estamos viciados! Muito obrigada pela receita, excelente!
Why not use the esim? Curious
Oh it doesn't support esim?
@@Gopinathk17 it does
The only con I see there is the thickness of the phone, 9.1 is thicker. I prefer you make the phone a bit wider but thinner than slimmer and thicker
I just bought the S24 in January. I am thinking of changing it to OnePlus 12 as the Exynos 2400 heats up.
Lot of love has put INTO this phone!
Does it support esim?
Eu model does support it
I Love my OnePlus 12 wish the volume was on opposite side from power button as I always shut my phone when trying to lower the volume.
It has great photos, I'm trading in my 9 pro for the 12. Oneplus has some great pre-order trade-in deals.
Does this phone have something similar to samsung dex, that can be connected to a pc?
yes, the phone has a TV output or output to a monitor using a cable
thnx
@@Slavo851
It's starting from 599 from china with global os now
I really want to buy it, I just hope the green line doesn't appear after 2 years of use like my OP9
the brightness is not that that much in tests by other youtubers...only 1200+- at most.
How curved is screen?
I'd say medium, not super curved but not slight either
Thx was kinda hoping it was like the s23 ultra curve
hope green line issue on oneplus already fix on this model
Yes
Love the Oneplus, performance, battery life, ...lighting speed charging, just that camera it's not convincing me
Camera is garbage but more than u need in day2day use
It's perfectly fine in daylight. Actually like the processing during the day more than the overdone contrast from pixel. Personally. But it's not the best at night. @@a.m.3118
Nick. When do we get the dishonest review ? I dont understand why RUclipsrs say honest review. If you didn't say that would it be a dishonest review ?
When I say honest I mean my honest experience, not a scripted talking points or advertisement
@@nickackermanchannel maybe say unsponsored.
Because there're many bribed reviews, so it's better to distinguish one from it.
@@andrewlim7751 it’s better to use brain. At least every now and then
I like your honest straight forward style of doing reviews. I subbed to your channel. Thank you.
