Exactly, Chris having to compare the 12 to the S24 Ultra is the highest compliment for Oneplus, or an example of how Samsung's base phones suck/how mucb of a diminish return there is for the Ultra
One plus did a great job with this device and very surprised at the cameras as in the past that was a problem for them. For me I prefer the slightly wider flat display on the samsung and of course as a die hard former note user (since note 2) the Spen clinches it. That said if they would release the white 1tb op 12 in canada id probably pick one up also because they are relatively inexpensive compared to the S24 ultra.
1tb option is limited to china-exclusive versin. I got my OP12 white with 24gb ram 1tb storage for 960€ It was region locked, but the shop place i bought directed me to a guy and he region-unlocked it, now i have 0 issues, i run OxygenOS and did even do a 1 OTA update with no issue, official, non-rooted, bootloader locked & widewine not triggered, google pay works. Satisfied, go for it. The camera however on the OP12 is somewhat on-par to S23 Ultra, i think S24 Ultra has a slight better camera and AI on camera to fill-up and make it cleaner & more clarity as well.
This is not a fair comparison. The S24 Ultra costs nearly twice as much as the OnePlus 12. Someone with the budget for OP12 will not be considering the S24 Ultra and vice-versa.
Samsung too expensive, no (SLOW) charger in the box. ugly smartphone. A lot of people will buy the Samsung because 7 ? Android updates and it's a Samsung. Not me. I am satisfied with my OnePlus 11
The s24 ultra is a beast I love it but it is ergonomically a disaster. Sharp corners and weighs a tonne. It's genuinely uncomfortable to hold or have in your pocket.
It's maybe uncomfortable if you have little girl hands, for me the square shape makes it easier to hold and better for watching content, also, who tf carries a phone that expensive without a case? Almost no one
Samsung is underselling the anti glare screen, as someone that upgraded from a s23 ultra the difference in direct sunlight is quite shocking, for sure sooner rather than later it'll be copied by other manufacturers.
How are the OP12 photos with a very bright background? Eg. Photo of a person with the sun behind them? Or a photo of people, inside, in front of a window on a bright day? My s23 Ultra really washes out the subject. My old s22 Ultra did too. I owned the Pixel 8 Pro, and it was much better for this, but had other (day to day usage) problems. I've heard the OP12 is more like the Pixel in photo processing, and I was wondering if that extends to this challenging use case. Also any reliability / glitch / bug problems with the OP12?
Seems biased in favor of OnePlus. When OnePlus loaded faster it was mentioned every time. When Samsung was faster it was either not mentioned or added 'Just marginally faster on Samsung'.
Have been using my OnePlus 5T rigorously since December 2017 with no issues whatsoever till date. The battery performance obviously has gone down to the point that now I feel like changing to a new phone - other than that no issues.
OnePlus finally did it. I haven't been this excited for a phone in years, The Price, Charging speed, bigger battery and an awesome unboxing experience including the beast 80W/100W charger in the box 😮 depending on region. Samsung has lost me this year after 9 years, they are way too expensive and if that wasn't bad enough haven't upgraded what I've been wanting for years. Thank you OnePlus for making this phone!
@@VelluHolappa Yeah I get that my current phone is curved , pain finding screen protectors, but I still would buy the OP12 over s24 ultra , I can get the OP12 for half the price of the S24 ultra
Personally between those two, Oneplus 12 is a no-brainer. It has slightly larger screen while being WAY smaller and comfortable to hold. S24U is absurdly wide. 79mm at 6.8 inch is laughably bad. If that is because of the flat screen, it's not worth it. It feels like a slab, not a smartphone.
I had a pro max for months. Tried both the s24 ultra and OP 12. The OP12 is amazing and is the device I ended up keeping. Crazy how much better it is. RUclips isn't doing the people justice.
i like wide screens, it gives a wider surface area and more to see. LG was known for having wide screen phones that's why i always preferred them. in any case my flowy green 16/512 arrived 2 days ago and i LOVE it i also have the violet s24 ultra although i haven't even taken it out of its shipping box yet lol....that's how much i prefer the oneplus 12
Honestly, for the price, both are exceptionally good. When talking about more for the money I can think of a few smartphones but for their charging price you aren't wrong getting both these even if you get them retail. You are paying for a something to last now unlike before where it broke down after a few years. You won't be disappointed with either of these when you purchase them.
I think something is wrong with your display from OnePlus from more than 15 videos I have seen about OnePlus the refresh stays in 1hz when in idle mode. While watching RUclips video 60hz and when scrolling 120. If u don't believe i will sent u the links of what I am talking about. Refresh rate response is also faster in OnePlus that's what I observed from ur video
I just ordered the s24 ultra. Mostly for the battery life, faster charging, and much cheaper, the OnePlus 12 has me conflicted. Getting the s24 ultra is gonna cost me my s22 ultra, while the OnePlus 12 will cost about the same, without having to trade my phone in. Literally the only thing the s24 ultra got that the OnePlus 12 doesn't is a good camera.
@@JConner49 The 24 Ultra might have a better camera but the OnePlus camera system is actually a lot better than people make it put to be. The OnePlus Open made it to the top 5 in MKBHD's blind camera test video. And the OP 12 has a better camera than the Open
I am in no hurry to buy OnePlus 12, because, OnePlus 13 is coming out in January 2025, which will be far better than OP12. Maybe camera will be upgraded... So let's wait!
What's the point of this video? It's like you conclude that you're going for OnePlus because it's cheaper... You know in the first place that it is cheaper lmao... You could have compared it to something at the same price range like Samsung s24+... S24 ultra is a phone that you would really intentionally buy because of its prestige... Just comparing 24+ against ultra, you'd even say, "i'd go for 24+ because it's cheaper and it offers almost the same as the ultra unless you want the 5x optical zoom and the stylus..." See how stupid that sounds like?
I never got the impression the price impacted the decision much. It seemed like he preferred the OP12 in the majority of the photos, preferred the OP12 cooling because it was clearly better, preferred the battery because it is superior, preferred the OP12 for gaming because it was much smoother during the gaming test. Im guessing you own an S24 if you're upset that the cheaper device won.
Samsung phones still overprocesses the photos and videos 😅😅😅 they really need to fire all the camera department including whoever in charge. Oppo/vivo/oneplus are truly greater in Android camera quality
OnePlus also has a dual game mode you can enable to make 60fps feel like 120fps. Not sure if you had enabled. Also the sound, OnePlus has settings for Dolby Atmos and auto mode where it automatically decides whats the best sound profile.
Samsung has the auto mode on Dolby atmos as well. It's had it for years since, like the s8 or s9 lol. Samsung has a snapdragon chip directly tailored to galaxy phones that have crazy ray tracing and actually push the limits of the chip, in tandem with their crazy vapor cooling chamber. Not to mention, it has the extra brightness mode with 2600 nits and the native game plug-ins.
As soon as I saw the proof that OP12 can be handled in the very specific instance when there's rain (see OP12 presentation trailer) while Samsung behaviour in the same situation was skipped, I was convinced this is an honest review and not one paid by OP. Considering this review, everything is a bit better on OP12 than S24U, especially the lack of AI, which wasn't mentioned at all...Yeah, truly honest, keep at it!
Yeah He forgot some points and might be sponsored but I can tell you the OP 12 definitely is amazing and beats Samsung in several categories. Only gets beaten clearly on updates and camera.
@@ryanlunzen9794 Oh, I didn't say OP12 is not a great phone because it really is. I would buy it instead of S24U if it wouldn't have the un-competitive price in my region (EU) compared with S24U. I'm just saying this review is clearly biased while trying to make it "honest". Which it isn't.
@@aresvoodoo I agree with you and I got your Point. Just saying an honest review would be towards the OP in many areas as well. I got it for 650€ from Trading Shenzhen from China. Actually great support and I will definitely purchase my next Phone there too. OnePlus luckily has every mobile Internet band and is the same Version I would buy in my country. They just came back to Germany but also with the 950€ price tag. Importing still is a great alternative.
Im going to go from a google pixel 6 to a oneplus 12. The battery life on my pixel 6 has been horrible, and i have had to keep it on battery saver at all time to get through a single day.
worth noting is that S24U is running the snapdragon 8gen3 slightly overclocked while Oneplus12 is running it underclocked out of the gate. ( you have to go into battery settings and enable the full performance of the chip with the oneplus )
Fantastic comparison again! Oneplus 12 and Vivo X100 Pro are better choices than the S24 Ultra. More vfm, with better cameras at night shots and much faster charging speeds.
Nah... If I have to choose between Vivo x100 Pro or S24 Ultra, I will go 100% for the S24 Ultra, but I have to admit, if I had to choose between S24 Ultra or OnePlus 12... I think I'll go for the OnePlus 12 😎🙈
Vivo might have the better camera(for now) but I believe there s a (big) camera update coming to the S24 Ultra it might fix a lot of stuff.Even if the Vivo still has better cameras after updates it doesnt mean its the best overall phone.A phone is not only about cameras
Haha the delusional Samsung fanboys 😂 No a update won't make the S24U have better cameras than X100 Pro and yes the X100 Pro has better battery life and is generally a better all round phone
OnePlus looking good! I am very happy to see that they are getting back into the game again. I still can't live without S-Pen, One Handed Operation, and native call recording feature, so S24U is still my choice, but as a general consumer, OnePlus 12 looks like a solid choice. Love that fast charging too!
The Oneplus 12 just makes so much more sense. Samsung ruled the smartphone world with the S21 Ultra and the Note20 Ultra and all their previous phones because they were too good as an overall package. The S24 Ultra just ain't it anymore, everyone else has caught up or should I say Samsung has fallen behind, considerably. The fact that Google and Apple have better sensors than Samsung is quite telling of their downfall.
@kaiserafinaway5909 Downfall? Which world do you live in? Don't you know that the S24 series has broken the record for the most pre-order sales in their entire S series? What are you talking about?
I agree if u meant the cameras ,they arent among the best currently but I believe there is a (big) camera update coming and hopefully it will fix a lot
i have just ordered OP with 23 Gb/1 TB plus shipping, earphones and a nilkin case for € 1050. I paid €1500 for Samsung fold 3 right before they releases the fold 4, so it was on discount with 16Gb/512 GB. I have battery problem ever since i use fold.. and now the Display gave up. To repair it, it would be almost comparble to buy a brand new phone. So i get a brand new phone instead knowing, i wont have battery problem any longer.
With shutter lag (and many other problems that have been present for years now on Samsung devices), pretty much any competitor phone is better. No need for comparison. Prople should know that there won't be any software updates that will magically "fix" everything.
4500 nits is pretty misleading. You'll only get this number on HDR exclusive content with only small on screen patches. The s24 U is in general brighter
Do not mislead and do not speak what you do not understand. You will get 4500nit when you are outside facing direct sunlight, and OnePlus received the certificate of the best screen in the world.
@mohxzh4741 Here is someone accusing others of misleading and not understanding when they themselves are the ones not having a clue and doing the actual misleading. Please go buy both phones and compare the display in direct sunlight before making such idiotic comments.
@@elpolloloco9657 I already have a Galaxy S24U I am speaking from experience, but you are a biased person and attack according to the company you like, while I rely on the hardware and facts. This is the difference.
Yes I have tried watching Netflix on both phones in direct sunlight and OnePlus 12 won everytime.. the brightness and highlights are visually stunning on HDR contents. The main menu is brighter enough nyways and no issues in navigating through the menu in direct sunlight. No doubt Samsung s25 will implement this next year but great job OnePlus for showing the love on their phones which can be seen this time at this price point.
you don't have same kind of experience with OP as you do with Samsung. Samsung's ecosystem is way better and some of Samsung apps are incredible like samsung health.
Awesome, thanks for your review. Exactly what I needed to finally go for the oneplus open, which basically has the same camera. Seems it is a flagship grade camera if it can compete with the s24 ultra. And the setup on the fold5 is basically three years old.
The Chinese version comes with the Color OS system, and the international version comes with Oxygen OS and comes with minor differences, unlike the international OnePlus, which comes more integrated.
Hey, great video! But I would give an advice. I don't know the percentage of non-english speakers that watch your videos, but for exemple I'm french. My skills in english are enough to mostly understand the video without having to put subtitles (which is cool ngl). But I still can struggle a bit at some points like for the numbers you say. For example at 4:30 you give a number and say "26 hundreds". Well that's pretty hard to get it at first and I had to replay this section 2 times before really understanding it. It mays sound a bit weird cuz numbers are probably a normal thing to understand for you. But for a non-native english speaker it's way more difficult. So if you could just write the number you're saying down in the video so people like me could better get the stats that you're telling, it would be great :) Thank!
op owner here, buyed chinese version and use it in europe no problem , 350 euro cheaper then european version :D for 600 euros what i paid for it, this phone is just .... blasting
Are the cameras the only aspect you are interested in a phone? Why not reviewing SLR cameras then? Never seen a comparation of general usability. Ecosystem comparation, or Bloatware overload side by side, data exchange with PC's (do they fully support Phone Link or offer alternatives etc), ergonomic button placements, Manufacturer customized UI comparison, update cycles and for how many releases/generation etc etc... it's mostly always just about the cameras...
When I read, hear and see people comparing the OnePlus 12 to the S24 Ultra or calling it a "Galaxy S24 Ultra killer", it really makes me laugh. Why not Oppo Find X7 Ultra killer, or Vivo X100 Pro killer, Xiaomi 14 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro Max killer 🤔 Just because the OnePlus 12 doesn't play in the same category as the iPhones 15 Pro Max, S24 Ultra and other Vivo X100 Pro, the OnePlus 12 competes more with smartphones like the Xiaomi 14, iQoo 12, S24/S24+, iPhone 15 / 15 Plus... It's a very good smartphone, a very good deal under certain conditions, but it's not at the level of the Ultra High-End. 🙏🏽 Ps: it's only on paper that the OnePlus 12 has a brighter display than those of the iPhones 15 Pro and S24s, and realistically, with the offers and other discounts, in many markets, the OnePlus 12 is not cheaper than the S24 Plus and even the S24 Ultra.
That's bs. It has better Battery Life, it runs as fast, maybe even faster, the Display got many records at DisplayMate measuring 2600 nits Peak brightness which should be the same as the S24U and with HDR content at possbility 4500nits in small areas. Way faster charging. So it even beats the Samsung in many categories. The cameras are better on Samsung but even there it's not lile it's twice as good. So yeah you can definitely say it's a flagship Killer for that price and even less with China import. Got it for 650€ and got 90% of a flagship and with no weaknesses.
The OnePlus 12 really fits somewhere between the Samsung Galaxy s24 plus and the ultra. Better said, it has higher specs than the plus butt, isn't as Stout as the ultra. However, if you do not care about stylus support then who cares about the ultra? Personally, I chose the OnePlus 12 and I'm still waiting on it from the pre-order. I've been using a OnePlus 11 for the last year and I think it's amazing. To that end, I really couldn't resist the 12.
@@ryanlunzen9794 in fact, the camera is better on the OnePlus 12 then the Samsung Galaxy s24 plus. The plus does not offer a three times optical zoom periscope camera and the 12 does. However, the ultra offers more lenses so, it's kind of Overkill in the camera department. Although, I prefer the hasselblad color science to the samsungs. It really depends on what you're after.

@@rubenjacome8252 Exactly, people don't seem to understand how much light can reflect and ruin images/make you think brightness is lower. I'd just tell em to turn a flashlight on into their display and see how the perceived contrast and brightness just lower.
@@lefteris19 C4ETech's brightness readings show 1670 nits and that's bloody bright for me at least. Last gen Ultra phones had 1100-1300 nits-ish full field, apart from the Google Pixel, iPhone Pros and now the S24 Ultra, that's the brightest there is, perfect for this gen.
maybe screenprotector on Oneplus isnt a good idea in comparison, to show the diffierences between Oneplus screen and the newest Gorilla Glass on S24 Ultra.
after watching a couple of video comparisons, it seems that samsung is over-hyping their phone when it is just on par with other flagships. it appears they oversell their features making it seem that their features are more "unique" when in fact other flagships do the same thing. Well, samsung has some better pictures and videos but so do other flagship phones.
I realize many have very specific "must haves" for their phones. Like any purchase, a car, a TV, a phone, one will not get every single option they want but will be happy with the product in general. Don't really get the dissatisfaction with the curved edge screen. I do like how it sits in my hand with the smooth corners as noted by Tech Tablets. Overall the specs., options, battery superiority, screen brightness, cool operation really puts the OP12 right there with the Apple 15 and Galaxy S24 Ultra with perhaps a few misc. misses. Granted I have been a Oneplus user for a while. I just traded in my Oneplus 10pro and Oneplus 11 and purchased 2 Oneplus 12 units for a net total of $900 and change here in the U.S. How sweet it is.
so im wondering if i should buy a refurbished s24+ or oneplus 12 (both are same price for me). people have told me that i should get the s24+ instead, but i really dont know. how are gestures on the oneplus 12 bc of the curved screen?
S24U camera looks better. OP12 portrait shot looks overexposed & hazy. Zoom shot looks blurry, not sharp. Night mode is much stronger in S24U. Looks wise also S24U far better. Wish S24U had the same charging speed like OP12.
How you manage to get cooler temperatures from OP when all the other video I saw the OP was the hottest drained a lot more battery and failed to complete some benchmarks? OnePlus is over as we knew it and the clear oxygen os. With new os made by Vivo is not so good. Something else I found very ironic is the 4500 nits of brightness. Where is it? Is clearly darker than S24U

It is interesting that the OnePlus 12 screen appears noticeably darker in direct sunlight even though the brightness is rated so high. Having said that, it's amazing what OnePlus is offering for the cost it is. Way to go.
You'll notice it's brightness power in sunlight wen u r watching content like on Netflix.. m using this phone for a week and watching HDR movies while out and about is amazing!!! The sharpness and highlights is stunning even in direct sunlight as compared to my OnePlus 11 I had b4.
OnePlus 12 camera is not extremely good in low light conditions If you need the best camera on a smartphone, take s24 ultra if you just want to have more fun, take One plus 12, the operating system on OnePlus 12 is probably the best on the market
Hate to tell you, but specs wise the OnePlus 12 has a better screen.. Brighter, much higher DC Dimming, Aqua Touch etc. Etc. Dont forget the grain issues on a lot of S24 Ultra devices. And yes i had the S24 Ultra, but i sold it to get the OP12 (coming from a S23U user)
I got my oneplus 12 for 1150€, when the s24 ultra with same space and less ram cost 1900 € 😬😬 Worth it? Not for me, even if s24 ultra is slightly better
Truth is that, just like any other device from previous years, all those software "tunings" won't make big difference. If they wanted to change anything, they had time, resources, user feedback - they would have done it by now. Why rush and present half baked device, especially in this price range, anyways.
@stevanb.2590 it's called milking consumers. There is no point of buying the best sensors and so on, iw would create to little revenue for them. I stead they milking consumers who don't buy things with their brains.
Still less, how much does Samsung sell for? Around 1400 Euros or thereabout. Also you can get OnePlus 12 from Tradingshenzhen for much less, same can't be said about S24 Ultra!
Sponsored by Oneplus. Where is the camera zoom comparison? Video comparison like you do all time? There is none? Why? Because oneplus 12 zoom sucks. Camera is not as stable as S24 Ultra.

You are paying for a something to last now unlike before where it broke down after a few years. You won't be disappointed with either of these when you purchase them.

Huh? He didn't everything to compare from performance to camera and OnePlus cooked s24 ultra lol.
Also the sound, OnePlus has settings for Dolby Atmos and auto mode where it automatically decides whats the best sound profile.
iirc that game mode is ai generating frames like nvidia dlss, so it wouldnt exactly be fair to use that
Samsung has the auto mode on Dolby atmos as well.

And yet it had better overall performance than S24 ultra.
Just a point of annoyance here: Genshin Impact did actually load faster on the OP12. Check it out @6:31 minutes

My OP12 just shipped today. Not impressed with my S24U so probably going to return that.
So if you could just write the number you're saying down in the video so people like me could better get the stats that you're telling, it would be great :)

Why not Oppo Find X7 Ultra killer, or Vivo X100 Pro killer, Xiaomi 14 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro Max killer 🤔
Just because the OnePlus 12 doesn't play in the same category as the iPhones 15 Pro Max, S24 Ultra and other Vivo X100 Pro, the OnePlus 12 competes more with smartphones like the Xiaomi 14, iQoo 12, S24/S24+, iPhone 15 / 15 Plus...
It's a very good smartphone, a very good deal under certain conditions, but it's not at the level of the Ultra High-End.
🙏🏽
Ps: it's only on paper that the OnePlus 12 has a brighter display than those of the iPhones 15 Pro and S24s, and realistically, with the offers and other discounts, in many markets, the OnePlus 12 is not cheaper than the S24 Plus and even the S24 Ultra.
