      Well, now I'm dumping this Motorola Edge + 2022 as I'm not happy at all with this phone ( though I will miss Dex ) .
      OnePlus site currently offers it for $799.00. Plus $120.00 if I trade in my LG V60 ( should I?? ) and an additional $30.00 coupon for registering on OnePlus - so total cost is $649.00 plus tax - FOR 16 GB OF RAM AND 512 GB OF STORAGE!
      How can I pass on it? Gotta get accustomed to Oxygen - is this gonna be a long learning curve Juan?

    I ordered one.
    Been a happy OnePlus customer for nearly a decade. My first gen Nord i got as a company phone is out of support and i really wanted to get back into the flagship game, but not at any cost.
    The 12 brings back what OnePlus used to be the kings at, competing with phones way higher up the market at way lower prices.
    I really enjoy OxygenOS even after it's 'ColorOS' updates, and it never grows old having a phone most people don't know about, that is insanely capable.

      I'm with you. I preordered the OnePlus 12 and traded in my 10 Pro. I've owned the 8 Pro, 9 Pro and 10 Pro skipping the 11. My only real disappointment is the IP rating. I feel like the selfie cameras on OnePlus phones used to be a bit of a wart but not now with the 12. I've always been fine with the camera experience otherwise and feel like they have always been underrated. I notice a wider range of opinions from reviewers about their cameras than other brands. But I've always been about the OS speed, the screen, battery and charging speed. They always deliver on that and seem to bring even better performance post launch. One of the first things I do with a new OnePlus is try it out in my car and see if Android Auto has less errors. I noticed a jump in Spotify sound quality and Android Auto usability from using a Samsung Galaxy 10 Plus to going to a OnePlus 8 Pro one year. You always find the best unsung aspects of these phones and highlight them. I intensely look forward to your future coverage of this phone.

    • @SomeGadgetGuy

      Oh nice! The jump from a 10Pro to a 12. You're gonna like that battery life! I wish they kept the 4k/120 mode on the camera, but the rest of the phone should help make up for that 😊

    Hey Juan I really like the insights and perspective you bring to smartphone tech youtube or whatever you call it. Reviewers are too obssessed with presentation today and the average consumer denominator which kind of brought about or atleast exarcebate techie syndrome which i like to call it. And don't get me started on the wireless charging obsession because it is wasteful and ineffective but ironically is somewhat concerned for the environment too.

    I think the 24+ and OP12 are a lot closer than you are playing it off to be. OP12 has better camera, but the screen and processor are a wash. OP12 has a better battery but the battery in the 24+ is not anywhere near bad. It costs a little more but you do get Dex and the Samsung Eco system that can be important to some people. If you already have the galaxy watch, buds and maybe even a tablet, all those things work better with Samsung. Honestly, if it wasn't for the curved screen I would have got the OP12 but I really hate curved screens.

    When I did MKBHD's blind camera comparison, One Plus Open and One Plus 11 were my photo winners. It does seem like lots of reviewers focus on specs and if the phone is Apple or equal to it. Not many actually seem to test the phone and use it. I wish more reviews were more practical like yours. Thank you!

    • @SomeGadgetGuy

      Thanks for that. I really feel we're at a point where the processing differences between premium phones aren't "problems" but differences in how the cameras are handled. Someone saying they can't good photos out of OP is telling me, they didn't get familiar with the cameras.

      It fits into the case (Note 9) so that you can use the Razer JungleCat controller. It makes it one of the few options to have a real pocketable gaming system. To me it's better than carrying an obsolete PS Vita Slim, or something like the Retroid Pocket 4 Pro.

    Yes, most youtubers never even try to learn how the camera works. It either works like iphone (point and shoot with nobrains on) but OP cameras have always been really really good if you have used hours and hours to learn the how it functions the best. That is like basics of photography, you dont buy a expensive camera just to point and shoot...

    • @SomeGadgetGuy
      @SomeGadgetGuy  8 месяцев назад +88

      I've said this in previous videos, but it's like you took a successful wedding photographer who shoots on Canon, and on the day of a wedding, swap their gear for Sony. Tech "reviewers" act like that's a camera problem that it's not "good enough", when really it's a user issue.

      We’ve heard this before.

    • @peterparker2068
      @peterparker2068 8 месяцев назад +9

      That's just how most people want to take pictures. People just let the software do the work. Pixel phones had great pictures even though the first couple of generations had only one camera: the MP wasn't even high on it. It all depends on the user. If buying a Oneplus and configuring the camera setting works for you then you do you. It's all about convenience and that's why either most people just buy a Apple or Samsung phone. LG smartphones had great cameras and settings and were priced lower as well but the general public didn't buy too many LG phones. LG eventually shut down their mobile division and stopped selling smartphones.

    • @SomeGadgetGuy
      @SomeGadgetGuy  8 месяцев назад +20

      That's not what I'm saying. Take five phones out of your pocket and JUST push the shutter, and you get five different images, with different metering and different processing. The user who lives with any ONE of those phones will build an expectation on what that phone does to an image, and they'll start composing for that at an instinct level.
      It has nothing to do with the weak argument that techies like to throw in, that somehow pros are always "fiddling" with settings.
      I am specifically talking about the user experience as it relates to auto modes. The user builds an expectation, and when a new phone turns out a result that the user wasn't expecting, they will likely blame the phone. That's incorrect. It's a user familiarity problem.

And in the UK the charging speed is reported to be 0-100% in 23 minutes I believe (higher rated charger) so coupled with the immense battery capability of the device, I can see this being my phone for a good long while.

    Best phone so far with that price also. Better than S24 in many ways. 1. Better, bigger battery and charge waaay faster. 2. Better screen due to more BIT colors and smoother scrrolling due to their new tec and much brighter. 3. CPU has been showen better in many benchmark tests here on RUclips. 4. Face onlock is way faster and does not lack in miss readinga.... Basically This phone is better in all the areas that really matters.... Samsung still have a better camera tho if you are into that sort of things and some gimmic things that really doesn't matter..... It's pure crap by Samsung to have a phone like that with that price when you can get this.

    So I've almost retired my OnePlus 8 t but yes I miss the louder speaker and the FAST charging! (And the cooler operationing while fast charging while running two apps in split screen.)
    My pixel does very well in low light and by simply clocking the shutter, but I miss how I played with settings like color temperature for sunsets on my OnePlus phones. Also OnePlus seems to have data within the photos that responds very well to boosting saturation etc in post processing.
    I sorta miss that.
    I've tried to convince myself that I'm done with OnePlus, but getting a quality zoom with large sensors on wide and main and vooc now I'm off to OnePlus's website.
    Oh by the way, I've been hoping to mention the app super display to use tablets as external monitors (retaining touch and pen input) even though I have a lenovo tablet with HDMI in, I never use it because of super display allowing touch and pen.

    Oneplus is no longer my daily phone (sadly because my OP9 fell victim to the green lines) and this year should have been my upgrade. Happy to see that Oneplus can still be my future choice once my run with this Pixel runs it's course.
    I think Oneplus actually learned its lessons after the 11. Going back to having one main model for the year is the right choice instead of having a pro.

I want to upgrade from my Note 20 but the lack of DeX-like on phones is kinda a deal breaker for me. Would be however interested in video output to external monitor (any 3rd party or insider option for desktop mode??) and whether I can wirelessly cast screen to Samsung smart TV as I can with my Galaxy S23+ (I don't mind if 3rd party app is needed for that)?
    And how about build quality - there's been some back panel sealing quality issues reported on the chinese version of OP12?

    Really good video and as a former Oneplus 6t and 7pro onwer i wanted to give them a try again , but Samsung will give me $550 for my Galaxy s21 Ultra . The Galaxy s24 plus ends up being $449 and the Oneplus 12 is $530 after $270 from One plus with a $30 discount . I have to add I got $150 form Samsung with preorder so I got a charger and a good case and a screen protector . I had the Oneplus 11 last year but returned it do the screen not getting bright enough for me and the phone being a bit top heavy and off balance . I don't want a curve screen and don't like lack of good cases for Oneplus phones , I'm a contractor so always in an unfunished house. I understand this isn't a problem for many ,

    • @peterparker2068
      @peterparker2068 8 месяцев назад +1

      I think for existing Samsung owners it makes sense to stick with Samsung since they give you great deals on trade in. It might end up being less compared to OnePlus deals. Maybe it might not work out the best in all situations. I think if you buy a smartphone straight with no offers OnePlus might give you an alternative to pick from. For my example, I am trading in a Note 20 Ultra which Samsung will give me a $600 value for the s24 Ultra. With all the discounts and a free buds pro2 it will cost me around $599. OnePlus site will only give me $280 for my Note which end up being $519. If I had to pay more than $600-700 then OnePlus would be a better deal. If I just sell the Buds Pro 2 for just $100 then it will end up being cheaper. The buds 2 Pro retails for $250 on Samsung's site.

    • @midnitestate
      @midnitestate 8 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah this is my dilemma. I have a flip 5 I'm moving on from (too delicate for my lifestyle and workspace, app work better on main screen making outer screen a gimmick). Onplus is giving me 500, while samsing 600. Also when you throw in protection plans it comes down to a $40 difference. I've had curved screens in the past but there still more expensive to repair and are to find good cases for as well.
      Best buy is seting up demos for the one plus 12 so I'm gonna try it and see if I can get used to it and the weight/thickness of it. Love the raw features over bloat and ai stuff I'll probably never use on the s24plus, but that phone is surprising thin and light which I would prefer. Honestly I'd wish they sold a 12gb/512gb ver of the standard 24 as that phone would be preferred for my usage and performance a more pokectable phone. Just like to have more headroom for hanging on to the phone for longer periods

    • @peterparker2068
      @peterparker2068 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@midnitestate Do you really need the 8GB? Maybe if you check your RAM usage you might find that 8GB is good enough. Even when I have a lot of apps open and I multitask I'm not hitting my 12GB limit. At least right now you can get 512GB free upgrade. Right now One plus 12 is upgrading you to 16GB but I think that's a bit of an overkill. But the One Plus will only support the phone for five years compared to the seven with Sam.

    • @midnitestate
      @midnitestate 8 месяцев назад

      @peterparker2068 no I don't necessarily need anything over a gigabytes of ram. Actually I've never had a phone with over 8 gigs of RAM and not had too many issues. Outside of the random app closing to save memory. But if I'm going to hang on to the phone for a long period of time it wouldn't hurt to get slightly better specs just for longevity purposes. And I agree the 16 gigabytes of RAM is overkill on mainly for gamers but if you are going to keep the phone for the full amount of time the phone is supported, then it's nice to have that Headroom.

WHY? now hit power button when trying to volume down. STUPID! and 3. UNLESS I AM MISSING SOMETHING - WHAT IN THE HELL DID THEY TAKE AWAY NOTIFICATION LIGHTS WHEN THE SCREEN IS OFF FOR? THIS IS A KEY FEATURE FOR ANY DAMN PHOINE. THIS SIMPLE LITTLE FEATURE IS SUPER IMPORTANT! i MEAN WHAT THE HELL?
