Not all rural China are like this, she lives in a village managed by one of the richest cities in China. Not all Chinese local governments have the money to build nice roads and hiking trails in tiny villages. Take the earthquake that killed more than one hundred people in western China late last year for example, it's one of the poorest areas of China and life is very different. (There's also the culture aspect as the people there are predominantly Muslims, Chinese Muslims, Mongolian Muslims and Tibetan Muslims)
You live such an interesting and fulfilling life. Life here in the US is so mundane, greedy and negative if you turn on the TV. We live vicariously through you.
In the EU, it's mostly hate, people hate their govts for supporting atrocities in Gaza, corrupt politicians, rising fuel, food, inflation and so on.

Azalea in Zhejiang has a beautiful name: 映山红 red flection of mountains. Their blossom covers the southern side of each hill, and there are hill after hill along the Fuchun river. We used to pluck the flowers and suck the honey on the stem

@@user-op4sx6bg8n 嗯，可能是同样的长江水孕育着安徽和浙江的土地吧，小时候表哥带着我在富春江里摸河蚌，表姐教我用映山红做头饰。山和水之间是遍野的紫云英和油菜花。长大之后，富春江的山和山上的祖坟都不见了，老家也变成度假村了😅
I was born and raised in such a village, and from very young, I already knew I enjoy the harmony life in it, but I and a lot of similar peers had no choice but moving out to earn a live. and when you started the moving, you will be gradually farther and farther from the beloved villages.
Now I am not in the country, and your video invoked my half sweet half bitter memory of my village.

Yeah, Haha, I too survived the winter in North Am. but in the SW. I have not spent a winter in a cold climate for years. My body went into shock for the 1st month or two and then I adapted. Now Spring is arriving and I am loving the cold and then warm, then cooler temps as it warms up bc/ we all know including the trees especially, that it's not going the other way. It will only continue to get warmer. So the snow that comes here and there is welcomed. I love snow bc/ it's so fun to play in and such a miracle of soft floating water in crystaline form, then stays white when it piles up on the ground, truely amazing. And the negative ions are mood lifting, so added benefit. However, not fond of the freezing cold part.
It is snowy in the Winter of China, looking freezing.

I do the same thing sometimes at work, after lunch i go for a walk, but some days its so cold, but i still do it for spiritual reasons and discipline.

Katherine, i am overjoyed that you are enduring the winter in your Chinese village with ease! Talking about water reservoir, there was one in my childhood village, except that the reservoir is at the very end of our village and our house was at the head of the village. i still remember my mother going to get water from the reservoir with two buckets tie to a rope on each end of a bamboo balance beam. Getting water each day was a workout in itself. I am so happy for the villagers that they have running water into their houses now! There were no snow in my southern village; however, we did experienced severe typhoon a few times a year that almost blew our frail clay tiles roof... There is no snow here in SoCal unless we drive up to big bear. I am jealeous of you icy winter; i grew up in freezing winter NYC as a teen myself

It is usually the case that locals take things for granted and it takes a foreigner or someone from outside to see and appreciate the beauty in such places which the locals usually take for granted.
