  • This is the full current version of the Preshow audio for Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room at Disneyland. This classic audio has largely been used since 1963, but this particular version has been used since 2005. The Maui, Koro, Pele, Negendei, and Tangaroa audio is from 1963. The Rongo, Hina Kaluua, and Tangaroa Ru audio was changed in 1973 to remove references to original sponsor United Airlines. In 1992 it was remastered. In 2005 the order of the Tiki's was changed, and the drums between each Tiki were added. Ever since I was a little boy, the Tiki Room Lanai has always been one of my all time favorite waiting areas in Disneyland. I love all of the Polynesian inspired details and especially the 8 (Originally 9) Tiki gods & goddesses that are situated around the Lanai. All nine of them were designed by Walt's legendary Imagineer Rolly Crump and mostly modeled after traditional Polynesian mythology. They are Maui (God of Time), Koro (The Midnight Dancer), Rongo (God of Agriculture), Pele (Goddess of Fire), Negendei (The Earth Balancer), Tangaroa Ru (Goddess of Wind), Hina Kuluua (Goddess of Rain), and Tangaroa the tree (Father of all Gods & Goddesses). These Tiki's around the Lanai have been repainted several times. This happened a few times in the 1970's and 80's, beginning around 1970, and lastly around 1985. After that, it looks like they were the same for roughly 20 years until the 2004-05 refurbishment, when they were again repainted to their current color scheme. Rongo's fruit was removed in the mid 80's but was restored in 2005. All of these pictures were shot by me. I tried to capture clear pictures of every God and Goddess. I hope you enjoy it!
I do not own any of the audio used in this video. All of the audio is owned by Disney.
