It is a great time with the family. By the way, you are the winner of the breast drill. I have been trying to get a hold of you and if you will contact me at toolscouter@gmail.com and give me your address, I will send it to you. Hope to hear from you soon and have a great week.
Fun video. Brought back memoires. I went to HS in Vermont and that is where I was introduced to Toboggans. What a blast. It's nice to see a family outside having fun. My wife and I use to take our kids to a hill in the Bronx when we lived there and it was so much fun.
When you stop and think about how effective the technology is for say a Flexible Flier it really is impressive. I remember the hardware stores would have the Fliers standing up in a row leaning against the front outside of the store and you couldnt help but notice them when you passed the store. The wood finished and metal painted they were ready to go. Thanks for this up date on getting the sleds ready. I always had runner sleds and never used a toboggan. I guess I need to spend a summer finding one and getting it going.
What you say is so very true. I think there’s two reasons why the old technology is no longer used. First, we live in a disposable society and so they sell cheap plastic sleds that will last a season or two and then you just buy another one. Secondly, the old technology needs to be stored and maintain properly. Kids being kids they leave it lay out in the snow and don’t clean it up later so that it gets rusty and the wood rots. Too many kids don’t have fathers that want to do that, or just don’t have fathers. Consequently, junk technology that doesn’t work so well. Don’t mind my cynicism. Thanks for stopping by and hope you have a great week.
It sounds to me like you really know how to celebrate a day on the snow. It’s always great to hear from you and I appreciate you stopping by. Have yourself a great week.
We got a couple days of sledding with the kiddos. No runner is sleds, though. They had a blast. Can't wait until we can do it on some bigger hills. I love the handle hanging videos. I'm hoping I can learn enough to be able to re-hang my granddad and great-granddads hammers.
Glad you were able to get out and enjoy the snow. I appreciate that you enjoyed the handle hanging videos and I know I’ll be doing some more. When you get a chance to work on those old tools, I wish you good luck. Thanks for your visit and hope you have a great week.
I used to have a toboggan like the one you made. Last time I used it my friend and I went flying down a steep slope and wiped out on a large bump. My friend's head snapped back and hit me so hard in the face that one of the lenses got knocked out of my sunglasses. I thought my vision was all screwed up until I realized it was just the lens. I decided I'd had enough of that and gave the toboggan to another friend.
😳 WOW, what a story. They can be a lot of fun, but I have learned that at a certain point, my age and weight limits the way I can play. I do thank you for sharing and hope you have a great week.
I spent my high school years in Indianapolis. NO hills near our home except "Butler hill" on Butler University campus. That hill is now gone. We had only one major snow in the years that I lived there (1970-1974). We sledded mostly on icy grass. Your thinly snow dusted hill reminds me of our high school-age sledding outings. The college bots usually rounded up a 50's era car hood that was a menace to wee sledders when loaded with 10 or more college age boys. I owned a nice 6' toboggan in the early 1980's. Improper storage allowed it to rot. I ought to copy your idea and make a vintage toboggan.
All kinds of memories. After having corresponded with you for a while, I’m sure you’d be able to accomplish the making of a toboggan. If you do, good luck and for now, thanks so much for your visit and have a great week.
Yes, plastic is cheaper and doesn’t need to be maintained. A lot of kids still have fun with it. I just like the older technology. Thanks so much for your visit and I hope you have a great week.
I don't know if it makes any difference or not, but we used candle wax on the runners. I have one that is like brand new. It has a bow on it, I think somebody just used it as decorations. The other one I have, I took it apart because it was broken and I still have to replace to broken piece.
I’m sure there are different kinds of waxes you can use. Beeswax might even work. Overall it sounds like you’re taking good care of What you have.. Trust everything goes well with a broken piece. Thanks for your visit and have a great week.
I had a similar sled as a kid, wish I still had it. I was born in 69, we may be close in age. Thank you for the wonderful videos.
You’re more than welcome and thank you for your visit to the channel. I was born in 1970, so we are close in age. I hope you have a great week.
Thanks for the memories, and the awesome home video. Very enjoyable!
Thanks Robert. So glad you stopped by and hope you have a great weekend.
That takes me back to my childhood. Sledding was always a fun time time as a child
It is a lot of fun, and I am enjoying it as a grandfather, watching my kids and grandkids having fun. Thanks for your visit and have a great week.
That looked like a fun time with the family. Many thanks for showing how you re-furb the runners. 👍
It was a lot of fun. Thank you so much for coming by the shop for a visit. Hope you have a great week.
Awesome great family time! Priceless!👍🏽😊❤️🇺🇸

Very nice the older sleds and toboggan are the best. I got to occasionally when I was a kid use them. But mainly plastics of some kind.

Great video
Thank you so much for stopping by and sharing your thoughts. Hope you have a great week.
Looks like fun
It definitely was. Thanks for coming by the shop for a visit and hope you have a great week.
Paraffin works great on the runners! Dug my first sled out of a dump. Dad made the new wood!
That’s great. Hope you have some fun with it and thanks for sharing. I look forward to your next visit and have a great week.
Nice video.
Thank you. Have a great week and thanks for stopping by.
