Honestly this is still a pretty great CMF to this day. The only ones that stands out as not fitting in with the rest of their variants are Ron and Hermione, in my opinion. I actually really like invisibility cloak Harry with the pajamas. I think it’s adorable lol.
I agree with you on the Ron and Hermione minifigures (mostly Ron). Ron's face just doesn't fit the character in my opinion, and the hair is kinda iffy too
@@KipsterMc The hair isn’t super bad imo, it’s okay (only okay lol), but the face is just so weirdly proportioned. He doesn’t fit with the other Rons. Hermione, same thing. Her hair is only okay, but the face is really not even close.
As someone who owns all of the minifigures from the first and second Harry Potter minifigure series, I don't think people have to get all the minifigures from these two series if they've missed out on them because almost all of those characters featured in the two series have eventually appeared in regular sets in the LEGO Harry Potter reboot lineup. Not to mention that there isn't as much exclusivity in the two series as there used to be, although right now the second series still has more exclusivity when it comes to character variations. As an example, that Luna minifigure in her pink outfit now appears in the D2C Hogwarts Express set but without the fabric skirt piece. If you truly want to get them all, you can still find some that cost less than their original retail price on the aftermarket, even in new condition. Overall, there isn't as much value in neither of the two series as we initially thought there would be.
I added Cedric to the Rise of Voldemort set. Changed Cedric's face with one showing anguish and changed the eyes to closed. Since LEGO don't do dead figures, I now have a dead Cedric for the Rise of Voldemort set. I'm such a sick puppy!
I still have quite a soft spot for this series, as I remember seeing pictures for it right around my birthday, so that was nice. I have ten of the twenty-two figures: Harry in robes, Cedric, Dobby, Trelawney, Mad-Eye, Flitwick, Dumbledore, Voldemort, Tina and Credence. And yeah I wish I got more. I love the differences between the robes on Harry, Ron, Hermione & Dean, especially like how they utilised the legs for printing, something which we don't see as much of in sets. And Percival was so desirable to have from a collector's pov. The standouts for me were probably Moody & Trelawney. Moody had the Barty Crouch print, plus two hair pieces and a stick and a recolour of the maraca piece as his flask. And Trelawney had a fab print, on the torso and the new dress piece, new hair piece and it even has printing on the saucer, just really love all that. New mid-legs and dresses were such an awesome addition not just for the HP line but for Lego in general. The dresses meant we finally stopped using slope pieces that were too tall and not designed to be in torsos.
It was such an exciting series, the nostalgia is real but even outside that the parts and prints it came with were fresh and interesting at the time. At least they all still hold up in terms of quality these days even if it’s not as unique
I really love this series! It brought me out of my 20ish year dark ages. I could do without the Fantastic Beasts figures but the HP figures are still really great to me despite Lego cranking out a million HP sets and minifigs since this series.
I think the minifigures themselves still hold up really well (aside from the Ron minifigure. I never thought the face and hair fit him), even if most of them have new versions in the Harry Potter sets. The Mad Eye Moody/Barty Crouch Jr. minifigure is my favorite in the series entirely because it's the closest we have to an official 10th Doctor minifigure from Doctor Who
I remember being so excited when this CMF got revealed, and it still means so much to me to this day. The mid legs are perfect, and there are so many great prints. It really kick-started my Lego Harry Potter collection, and I think it still holds up to this day.
I prefer the second series but there were a few characters in the first one that I really wish I could have bought at reasonable prices but ended up finding worthy alternate forms of the same minifigs. My favorite substitute being Mad Eye Moody with his black chest and miniature version of himself. :)
I think this series brought me into collecting CMFs. And I think this series also brought us a lot of new features that we now take for granted, as you mentioned. They are still great minifigures to me and still stand out compared to newer ones. Thanks for the review, even though it's almost 5 years late.
It will always be cheaper to buy these versions of the characters than the set versions, I also still think most of them have better detail than the current ones which in turn makes these figures better for a collection.
When they revamped the series I was hesitant to start collecting again. This CMF was the thing that made me think “wow, they’re really going for it on HP”. And here we are today… I’ve bought every Lego set in the theme since 😂
What a nostalgic set! Glad I wasn’t the only one afraid of being spotted by someone from school when buying these 😅 while some figures from this series have been redone (making them kinda irrelevant), it was still a great reintroduction to Lego Harry Potter at the time.
I will say this, while I don't collect harry potter. Its the theme that has suckered me into buying slot of it. Just because I want the animals. Collect cats etc. Don't even get me started on the last wave, or all the owls.....which I rarely use but compulsively collect. I don't think my wallet can take another car line, oh and nagini, basically I collect animals mostly for my personal mocs.
Lego creates CMFs which are great for collecting....until they start reissuring them in future sets which completely devalues the CMF. How difficult is it to create new figs so CMFs can maintain their value?
A shame that most came out in other sets, can see why Lego would do that though to save money. A great collection, as is series two if you don't buy all the sets.
If someone is selling these for $5 for all 22, I am taking it!! 22 for the price of 1! Indeed greater than sliced bread, but you can't eat LEGO though... Great review!
Not sure it’s a waste of money. I get that a lot of the minifigures or their parts have been repeated but what would you rather have easily found minifigures and minifigure parts or would you rather it be like the two DC superhero’s CMF series or LEGO batman series’ where alot of the characters have only appeared in that CMF and therefore have a much higher price now?
Like I said, I collect CMFs. And $100 doesn't get you all that much especially now. I couldn't get Diagon Alley or Gringotts for that. Then there is the question of space. Mine is limited.
It's not a great title for this video, in my opinion. Seems you rather enjoyed the series as a whole and then decided they may not be worth going back to get just because some of these have had newer figures released since then. There's nothing wrong with that, but the title comes off as the series is a waste.
Ive used several of the lame beasts figures for city minifigs but i cant get on board with the IP..between the naff last few films that killed it for me coupled with the continual transohobia from Rowling
Hay yeer holly. Serie 1 look great and I not even into Harry Potter I got Serie 2 first but then fount a deal on Serie 1 so got them cas I collecting every Serie s 😁🤩
You know I'm starting to realize Harry Potter as a franchise is just a consumerist hellscape. Hell even the books can't decide it's message.. Dudley is greedy and unfulfilled by his wealth.. while also hey look at all the commercialism in diagon alley, which also exists in real life to sell you a god dam nimbus 9000. It's hard to maintain the anti-consumer message when it what makes you a billionaire.
I don't think its a waste cuz these were made at a time when lego didn't know if these 2018 sets would sell
Honestly this is still a pretty great CMF to this day. The only ones that stands out as not fitting in with the rest of their variants are Ron and Hermione, in my opinion.
I actually really like invisibility cloak Harry with the pajamas. I think it’s adorable lol.
Agreed, Holly missed the mark on this point I think. The original CMF was actually a nice way to get figs that didn't feel so repetitious.
I agree with you on the Ron and Hermione minifigures (mostly Ron). Ron's face just doesn't fit the character in my opinion, and the hair is kinda iffy too

I got Newt back in 2018, and I had no idea until now that you could fit his torso in the suitcase!!!
I still have quite a soft spot for this series, as I remember seeing pictures for it right around my birthday, so that was nice.

Really hope we get another series soon!
0:17 I feel you there ✊✊✊ we all got through that period
Makes for extra pieces. The tri-wizard cup is a good thing to have gotten
04:02 Every lego youtube always complains about"no leg printing🙄"but she doesn't like leg printings????
I really love this series! It brought me out of my 20ish year dark ages. I could do without the Fantastic Beasts figures but the HP figures are still really great to me despite Lego cranking out a million HP sets and minifigs since this series.
Back in 2018 this CMF was absolutely revolutionary. Unfortunately as the theme has progressed most of this figures have been reprinted in some form.
I know I’m like the only person who thinks this, but I really want more Fantastic Beasts sets.
I’ve never related so much to the having people from highschool see you buy Lego as an adult
I think the minifigures themselves still hold up really well (aside from the Ron minifigure. I never thought the face and hair fit him), even if most of them have new versions in the Harry Potter sets. Lmao Dobby was horrifying @3:20
3:26 * Dobby's appearance *
Me: DOBBY IS FREEEEEEEEEE

Is it possible to put a neck attachment on professor trewlawney ?

I think the torsos for Jacob and Creedence are great and generic enough to use for characters from the late 19th and early 20th centuries
I wished we get a series 3
I think you should make a video of playing Lego dimensions in the wizarding world and maybe fantastic beast levels.
A shame that most came out in other sets, can see why Lego would do that though to save money. A great collection, as is series two if you don't buy all the sets.

I've always felt like the faces on ron and hermione look really weird offputting
Ron's face always felt like it would have suit Percy or Arthur better to me
I bought the entire set from eBay but I accidentally bought fake legos and they broke so fast
Its not a waste!!!! Its a nice to collect
The nail almost everthing accept hermione's cat
I agree that with most of these minifigs they aren't really worth getting anymore because most f the characters have a better version now.
I miss your old content
I used to buy loads of these and to this day I still have about 10 Jacobs!
Last week, I bought the Dean Thomas minifigure, because of the scarf, and, yes, it was expensive to get it
Yikes, how much is going for these days? It’s been a while since I’ve bought one
Well, I'm Brazilian... so converted from Real to Dollar, I paid $15 for it, and like I said it was because of the scarf, I'll admit haha
I need another David Tennant face
Some of these cmf minifigures are pretty good to get
I really loved these figures but over time they have lost a little shine
I feel liked the series dated far too quickly, but I did quite like it at the time 😀
Not all of us can afford the large sets and I have collected CMFs for a long time. I agree to disagree with you about them being a waste of money.
For the price of all these cmfs you could buy a 100 or so dollar harry potter set lol
Like I said, I collect CMFs. And $100 doesn't get you all that much especially now. I couldn't get Diagon Alley or Gringotts for that. Then there is the question of

I don’t think waste money I use pull most on the characters in my diagon ally

I love this minifig series and missed out on a few sadly.
Luckily when it comes to the resale value of them, I don’t think most are that expensive outside of Percival Graves and maybe Dumbledore
I think the serried were good and some what solid

I’ve said for a while now minifigs are overvalued and overrated. These are no difference
