The Snape Marauder's Map set is actually inspired by a scene from the books when Harry's about to go to Hogsmeade, but Snape finds him and then Snape tries to see if there's something about the statue.
This is probably true given all those sets had to be based of concept art, early scripts and probably lent on the books a lot more than these days since the films only just released
if we're going off the books, Snape does actually catch Harry hanging around the humped back Witch statue. Theres a scene where Snape is suspicious of the statue and tries to reveal its secrets
The snape lego set is just funny. Why Snape's face glows in the dark. It doesn't make sense in any way. I can accept Voldemort with a glows in the dark face because he is spooky but Snape? Really?
I think his skin tone was described as sallow or unhealthy yellow in the books which would make glow in the dark the best color to use out of the then available tones
You know... when the 2010 Hogwarts Express is on the list of *worst sets* because it includes a Luna minifigure... I guess that's when you realize how solid the theme is.
Yeah I thought it was bit overkill to have that set be listed as one of the worst HP sets when really it’s in my opinion the best version of the train to have come out. The train build is solid and it comes with Harry, Ron, Ginny, and Draco. The accessories are great with Harry’s Trunk, Hedwig, Erol, and even the Trolley being included. Then there’s the inclusion of the Ford Anglia which has never been included before with the Hogwarts express and even with the inclusion of Luna I honestly think that that’s a bonus. I mean this set would be one of the top HP sets if it would’ve included a track set, an extra train car, a minifigure of the Trolley Vendor, Hermione, Lupin, a dementor, and maybe even a build for Platform 9 3/4. For me my biggest gripe is the exclusion of Hermione and the trolly vendor figure as well as the absence of train tracks for the actual train.
Maybe the 2021 Chamber of Secrets is just supposed to be Hogwarts from that movie? Not necessarily a set based only around the actual chamber. It's called "Hogwarts: Chamber of Secrets", so maybe that means the movie in general. Most of the modules feature scenes and characters from that movie. I do think what we got from the actual Chamber is simple but nice...the snake door build, the slide from the bathroom feature, Slytherin's head statue...etc.
I agree. To add to this, Although it is labelled “Chamber of Secrets” I think it does attempt to recreate the first Harry Potter lego sets made since they were based off of the first two books/movies. The main set itself is just the chamber but the add on sets (fluffy, first flying lesson) are the first movie. Since it is the anniversary as well that would make sense.
@Grace M Yea they were definitely going for a recreation of those classic sets. Even the factor of collecting them all and building your own Hogwarts is similar. The old one wasn't "pretty" looking but it was full of charm. Same with this one.
I think that Chamber of Secrets set and the rest of modular sets of the castle are more about recreate a very specific moment of the movies. I think is brilliant, for example, u can take a look at the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom with Gilderoy Lockhart and Cornish Pixies, and your mind gives your the image of the pixies making troubles
Idk why she didn't specify this in this video, but I'm guessing she's talking about how when you turn Fluffy around he looks like he's falling asleep, and she'd prefer it if all three heads were all awake instead. Which she talks about in her review iIrc. At least I'm guessing that's what she's referring to, but what she's saying doesn't really make any sense lmao, so I have no idea, I'm just guessing.
@@stuflikethis I’m not saying because he’s rare, but because it creates a very satisfying conflict within the set. The fluffy one I built with my son and it is so hard to put together because it’s so flimsy that as soon as you try to put everything together it breaks apart and you have to start over. And also fluffy doesn’t even really fit well inside the build, one of the worst ones I have done with him.
The only Harry Potter set from 2018 or 2019 I’m missing in my collection is Hadgrids Hut, I definitely regret not getting it sooner because it’s so hard to find now.
I have two of these sets from the early days, the Flying Keys and the original Hagrid's Hut. That stupid roof was NEVER straight. I remember having it on display for years, and I had to adjust it so often, until finally the original band broke and I just dismantled and stuck the entire set into the attic.
LOL OG Hagrid’s hut was my first and only Lego set as a kid. I bought it with birthday money and I remember being pretty underwhelmed. I finally got another set 20 years later though 😂
Harry and the Marauders Map is book accurate not film accurate. It's when malfoy sees him in Hogsmeade when he meets Ron and they go to see the shrieking shack and he runs back to try to beat malfoy. But i do agree it's pretty poor
The Fluffy Encounter is Super important because it’s needed for the Potion Mistake otherwise you won’t have a roof! Lol Therefore, if you want Potion Mistake you need Fluffy Encounter and if you’re getting these you should at least have the Astronomy Tower or the Chamber of Secrets.
At 14:09, the first version of "Quidditch Practice" (4726) is actually from 2002, because Draco wasn't on the team until Chamber of Secrets. I never had any Harry Potter sets from the first four years of the theme, so I wouldn't have most of these, though I do have the 2010 version of Hagrid's Hut.
I got the original Hagrid's Hut and the Chamber of the Winged Keys as a 6 year old in 2001 and I absolutely loved them. In hindsight comparing them to more modern sets they don't get anywhere near but as a very young child I had such happy memories of building them and playing with them
I was 14 in 2001 and introduced to Lego through the old Castle, Space, and Pirates systems. So I'm aware of the practices used here in 2001. Even with the limitations of what Lego could do even then I hated The Quidditch Practice and Hagrid's Hut in 2001. Unfortunately Lego was in trouble and as such in a problem persistent with early pieces from the period, the vinyl coverings. Every set that used them were cheap looking upon completion and if you lost them, now you had no roof.
Interesting list, as you said it is subjective but it is hard to evaluate 10-20 year old sets with todays sets. Also why would having Luna in the Train set make it a bad set. Anyway all just good fun but I really like all of the 2010-12 wave as there was a really great mix of sets. As for this last wave, what I realized was the ease of modifying most all the sets and once you do this they look and function better.
17:44 I felt they did Hagrid so dirty with this one even back then. The roof would never sit well. I eventually just tore it off because it kept turning into a crown.
I really really want LEGO to bring back LEGO Lord of the Rings. All those old sets were so amazing but are super expensive now and we’re missing so many important places and figures like Minas Tirith, Bar a Dur, the fell beasts, the oliphants, Sauron, Eomer, the Witch King, etc.
I just found my original Hagrid's Hut from when I was an 8 year old kid. It doesn't look like a great set compared to today's sets, but I have so much love for it.
I wanted to thank you for one of your videos. I am putting together a 15 set Hogwarts Castle, and you did a video of you doing a 13 set castle. With the help you gave with that video, I can do the 15 sets now. I think the only 2 you didn't include were the Grand Staircase and Gryffindor dorms, which were special releases. Anyway, THANK YOU for that video and all the help it gave to me
11:15 this is literally my favorite hogwarts express, the other ones look either too blocky or wierdly shaped and this is the only one that hits it right in the middle. I dont understand why its an issue that they put random minifigures in this set, in fact, i wish more sets did this. I feel like thats a dumb nitpick.
9:39 What! Whyyy. I love that set the great hall does only have 2 rows of benches and there isnt much room for the other professors but I like it. Also the fact that we got a prof sinistra minifigure is cool
I recently picked up the fluffy encounter set for 25 British pounds, (the original price is 35 pounds) and personally, for the price I think its pretty good.
I think if you owned some of these very old sets you would see them in a more favourable light. :) The 2001 Hagrid's Hut was really a first attempt, but it can be nicely modified and updated based on the later versions. I also like the 2010 Hagrid's Hut. The build is very similar to the 2004 one, and I personally think both are much better than the newest one. I agree with you about Aragog, it is not very well done, but I always admired the idea of using swords for legs. I think it is genial. Harry and the Marauders' Map is one of my favourite sets overall. The design is ingenious, and it adds something to Hogwarts that is largely missing from the new sets: secret, mistery, play feature. I also love that back at that time sets were partly based on the books as well, and not only the movies. This one is unique because is it based solely on the book. I think the Quiddich Practice is also a very cool set, how the hoops are done in this one is my favourite. The tower also looks nice, although we have seen bigger and more numerous Quidditch towers recently. Aragog in the Dark Forest is also one of my favourite sets. The spider build may look outdated now in 2022, but at least it is bigger than the newst version of Aragog. The nest on the other hand is immaculate, no wonder LEGO did not try to remake it in the new weave. For me the little tree is the weakest part of the set, we have seen ingenious tree builds recently (Umbridge's Encounter). The Hungarian Horntail Triwizard Challenge is actually one of my favourite sets. The tent is nicely built. I did not like the dragon at first, but now I think it is also nicely done. I personally think this set is much superior to the old one. Chamber of the Winged Keys is really not so cool, but you can make the keys fly in the air with a few transparent parts like the one you get with Moaning Myrtle. Also, using archways and spiderwebs instead of solid walls was very much inherent in the building style of the old Hogwarts sets. I think it works aesthetically, it it also saves you bricks and money. The alternative would be the Great Brick Wall of Hogwarts (modular sets), which you were also complaining about. Some other old Harry Potter sets not mentined in the video that in my opinion did not age well: Sorting Hat (2001), Hogwarts Express (2001), Troll on the Loose (2002), Escape from Privet Drive (2002), Dumbledore's Office (2002), Dobby's Release (2002), the two earlier versions of the Knight Bus. I also think the 2007 and 2010 versions of Hogwarts Castle should be definitely on the list of the worst LEGO Harry Potter sets. I love your videos by the way. :)
I’m on a mission to get the original Hagrid’s Hut, I really want to see how it holds up in person and see if it’s truely the worst Lego Harry Potter set to me
I understand that this is your opinion, but there is one set that was really bad, the Durmstrang Ship, considering that there were many other better things that lego could have chosen to do. It's an expensive set with only two minifigures that honestly don't even look like the characters. And this set is famous for going wrong, after all the company had to relaunch it adding Harry, Ron, Hermione and Dumbledore just to try to boost sales.
My Hungarian horn tail set had some brittle plastic accessories like the broom would get really scratched up when I gave it to harry and the wands would start chipping too
I have Hagrid’s Hut from 2013, Battle at Hogwarts, and Freeing Dobby. I would say that Hagrid’s Hut is my favorite, if it weren’t for Remus Lupin & Madam Pomfrey, two characters that don’t pop up quite often.
The fluffy set exterior looks kind of cool but at the same time it makes sense. Is there a balcony outside that has easy access to something theyre supposed to be hiding?
When you explained about the Chamber of Secrets I understood but I have one big question why is Luna in it she's not supposed to appear until Order of the Phoenix
my personal worst ten harry potter sets: 1) 75978 diagon alley 2) 71043 hogwarts 3) 76391 hogwarts icons 4) 10217 diagon alley 5) cars are pulling up outside... 6) they're at the door! 7) they've got guns! 8) They're taking me away!!! 9) I'm sorry! It was a jokkkkkkjksddddddddddarj3wealkjjjjjj32 10)
I agree on some of these. Only reason I got the new Fluffy Encounter set was for the gold Hermione mini figure. (Got 4 of the gold mini figures: the trio (Harry, Ron and Hermione) and Snape) Not sure what Lego was thinking when they gave Aragog katanas for legs in that one Hagrid's Hut set. The basilisk in the new Chamber of Secrets set is an improvement over the original basilisk.
I had 0 problem till you brought up the hogwarts express set. That set is a bitch and half to create, but you get the flying car, the train with the candy, and new minifigs at the time
Yeah I can’t agree with the Chamber of Secrets. I want that set so bad. As someone who doesn’t really have the castle it’s the perfect set to get a book theme and the castle all in one.
Yeah i dont agree with her either on that one. The new Chamber of Secrets is definitely a throw back to the OG Hogwarts Castle from 2001 in the essence that you’re meant to collect all the other sets to create one big caste.
I got the 4865 only for the minifigures, since I wanted Narcissa Malfoy and Hagrid and it was a cheap set so I am still glad they made it (for the minifigures) but other than that I agree!
6:44 I don't really agree. Yeah the new Hagrid's Huts is based on my move 3 and onward. But the older Hagrid's Huts are more looking like the ones from the first 2 movies (eventhough the 2004, which I got myself is a hp3 set). In these movies there is no "2nd hut" 😉
What really irritates me about the Chamber of secrets is that it is totally incompatible with the standalone Hogwarts Great Hall #75954. I also am not happy that they rereleased Diagon Alley so you have to spend money on the Ollivanders AGAIN. Instead of adding new buildings alone, they reissued one or two, driving the price through the roof. It is impossible to afford even on Ebay with prices starting at a whopping $500.
I actually own all of these except the Marauder's Mat lol that last Hagrid's Hut is as bad in person as you think it is. The roof pieces do not want to stay because it is just held by a rubber band and it's SUPER hard to get them to all go together and stay in place. It's reaaaally bad. I own four Hagrid's Huts lol this is the worst
I have the 2010 Hagrid’s Hut, Fluffy Encounter, Freeing Dobby, and the Hungarian Horntail and I wanted to get the Chamber of Secrets but wasn’t willing to pay that much for it. I have a soft spot for the first one and imo it’s a better deal than the new Hagrid’s Hut and I can look past the flaws of Fluffy and the Hungarian Horntail since they’re the only ones I have and probably the only ones I’ll ever get. It’s a bit of a “AAT” situation for me where the builds are ones I desired for so long that I don’t care as much if they’re inaccurate or not, after all LEGO builds are something we can modify (as cliche as that statement is). I agree on Dobby, that set was only good for the Minifigures.
I think you are being harsh on the Hogwarts Express set. It’s a great set. Just consider the Luna minifig as a bonus (almost like a the golden 20 year minfigs), then it goes into the best set list…..😀
I really want to get the chamber of secrets set, but I agree that it has to have a much larger chamber of secret, or at least be much cheaper in price.

Idk lmao. All of the Snape sets from 2001-2004 did that for some reason. So hilarious.
I think it's because in that scene he is walking through the dark hallways and then Harry shines a light on his face.
@@gronkpatrol Couldn't be. They made his figure that way since the Philosopher's Stone sets. All the way I think until the Order of the Phoenix sets.

The freaking fluffy set is awful indeed and now I have to pay extra for it, in order to complete my castle set
aragog has never been done justice, just look at the LOTR shelob attacks set that was so good
My Hungarian horn tail set had some brittle plastic accessories like the broom would get really scratched up when I gave it to harry and the wands would start chipping too
hate the "stick" wands they have, can't get over that
I have Hagrid’s Hut from 2013, Battle at Hogwarts, and Freeing Dobby.
Ok but fluffy encounter is absolutely the worst for me cause you are paying $40 for small empty rooms and a roof
Harry Potter did you put your feet in Gobby’s glider
15:00 What the f*ck is that?? It’s horrible
When you explained about the Chamber of Secrets I understood but I have one big question why is Luna in it she's not supposed to appear until Order of the Phoenix
I personally think the chamber of secrets set wasn’t that bad.
my personal worst ten harry potter sets:
1) 75978 diagon alley
2) 71043 hogwarts
3) 76391 hogwarts icons
4) 10217 diagon alley
5) cars are pulling up outside...
6) they're at the door!
7) they've got guns!
8) They're taking me away!!!
9) I'm sorry! It was a jokkkkkkjksddddddddddarj3wealkjjjjjj32
10)
“LEGO Harry Potter is my childhood”… And adulthood Holly, lol
Facts
DRAMATICLY SCREAMS NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO when Hagrid's hut is the bottom
I like the set
pretty much all lego harry potter sets i had as a kid were on this list haha i always liked them a lot
I have the original Hagrid's hut just chilling in my room. I liked it at the time. Now it looks very misplaced from the HP around it.
How does the chamber of secrets deserve to be on the list u said it rivals the great hall
Holly is the best I should do videos of my LEGOs there growing:) your amazing Holly
13:11 Why Snape has grey skin?!
7:00 why does aragog only have 6 eyes? Spiders have 8 lol
I feel like the 23 piece set should have gotten an honorable mention.
interesting thought. what if the chamber of secrets 76389 set is meant to be a representation of the whole film?
The original aragog's lair looks like a monster fighters set
The chamber of secret could come because that part called that, not because of the place :D
Yesterday I got my first Lego hairy potter set
It was fluffy encounter
12:55 wait why is Snape glow in the dark?? everyone knows the scene where Snape transforms into a gamma-irradiated monster is in book 6 smh my head
Now you should add Sirius's Rescue from 2022..rip
What editing program do you use for your videos?
I use Adobe Premiere Pro
I actually own all of these except the Marauder's Mat lol that last Hagrid's Hut is as bad in person as you think it is. The roof pieces do not want to stay because it is just held by a rubber band and it's SUPER hard to get them to all go together and stay in place. It's reaaaally bad. I own four Hagrid's Huts lol this is the worst
Most of those original sets have a massive nostalgia draw for me
I have the 2010 Hagrid’s Hut, Fluffy Encounter, Freeing Dobby, and the Hungarian Horntail and I wanted to get the Chamber of Secrets but wasn’t willing to pay that much for it.
What about the Sorting Hat set from 2001? It was so wierd! 😂
That one is an honourable mention and honestly could be swapped out with the Hogwarts Express or Chamber of Secrets
im still looking to buy the fluffy set...ughhh perhaps if i find it on sale
I think you are being harsh on the Hogwarts Express set. It’s a great set. Just consider the Luna minifig as a bonus (almost like a the golden 20 year minfigs), then it goes into the best set list…..😀
I really want to get the chamber of secrets set, but I agree that it has to have a much larger chamber of secret, or at least be much cheaper in price.
At least unlike many here it can be found on sale and doesn’t require spending high after market prices right now I will give it that
The sword legs of Aragog 😂😂😂😂
freeing dobby is the most fire set of all time
