To be fair Richard Harris’ Dumbledore does have a larger variation of outfits then Gambits and therefore use the appeal of him being an exclusive figure. Anyway great review 😄
I don't mind that most Dumbledore minifigs are Harris cuz to me he's the only real Dumbledore. Even watching Gambon I pretended in my mind it was Harris
@@Earthdestroyers99 yeh I don't like Gambon as Dumbledore really Gambon doesn't come across as very likeable usually the characters he plays are gruff and cynical types and he decided to give Dumbledore an Irish accent for reasons unknown, Harris who actually was Irish didn't even do that.
The Madame Pince minifigure is one of the biggest appeals from the set, outside the great architectural design of building. Although I am a big fan of both this system as well as the green roofs.
This is one of looks really nice imo. And the figures are pretty good…minus Snape, lol. But I’m so happy we’re getting the Invisibility Cloak again, as I missed the cmf, and it’s so expensive now. And I love the little baby Phoenix piece as well lol
The wooden sticker on the front of dumbledores desk, kinda looks like the sides of the wooden bridge, it would make a cool addition to the micro scale hogwarts, if someone made one out of those!
Typically this is what I hoped many of the HP creators would do - show and compare pics of scenes from the movies and then perhaps do a video of how to improve or change the build. Sadly not seeing much of this.
This set and the Sirius’ Escape are the sets I really want this wave. I also like the Hungarian Horntail and Shrieking Shack but I’m more focused on creating a Lego Hogwarts.
this set has gave me such a rollercoaster of emotions cause when it was announced i seen the exterior and was in love, then i seen the inside and was disappointed, and now reviews have me actually liking the interiors again. the top floors are definitely far too empty though
this and the ministery of magic and the wagon are those i look forward to the most... and i have emotional attachment to this set as i had the 2002 one... and every other try of an small office for him since on other sets have been such a let down to me... i am also a big fan of the system of modular hogwarts sets so yeah... i look forward to this set...
I'll probably get this if it goes on sale. I'm newer to harry potter and a bit picky about what sets I get. Not looking forward to having like 15 harry potters in my collection. lol
I won't grumble about the exterior not looking like the films as that's clearly the way they're taking the theme so I'll look at the positives. Glad to see a castle set with a bit more depth to it, really wasn't a fan of the shallow boxes that some sets were like. Really impressed with the minifigure accuracy for the first & second films Filch and Madam Pince (funnily enough in a later book Hermione says that she thinks they fancy each other). Also love those book prints, they're straight out of the films the one Hermione realised she took out for 'light reading' is especially good. Nice to see the library getting some love, as it appears plenty of times, would maybe like to see a little expansion to it though.
Definitely one of the better expansions. I really like how the entire set kinda mirrors the three stacked towers that make out Dumbledores on top of the tower.
Still my main problem with the modular sets is that they aren't great as a standalone (although this set is already way better), where the 2018-2019 ones were better. Of course these give more space to certain sections, although I just expected more.

There are, indeed, Dumbledore minifigures based on Michael Gambon. The one coming to mind is the blue one from the Lego Collectable Minifigures Series 2.
I feel like ron was missing, it would have been amazing to get the golden trio. I got some HP sets from the 2018 wave (all) and now im getting back to the theme, getting ron to would've been amazing
I feel like this would have been a better set if they divided it up in 2 instead of cramming it into 1. They could have done a library set a d built it up a bit more and had a clear divide for a restricted section. And then did a Dumbledore's office as a separate set. But I still really like it and will be picking this one up. I hope the GWP comes with the launch and not in November. I hate waiting until the fall to get all my sets
we might eventually be able to make scene for scene remakes of the movies in lego with the amount of new sets coming out- that would be an interesting project... it may be my rationale for getting the diagon alley set... love the reviews. I also wonder if lego have a big picture plan for the modular sets- will we eventually have a whole functional castle or is it just going to be a patchwork quilt of buildings.
My only problem with this set is how it doesn’t feel like it can connect to the other sets released last year and they parts can’t be separated without it looking weird
This is the first set I'll get from summer wave. I really like the inclusion of the library and Madam Pince. Also, as someone who just got into LEGO Harry Potter, I don't mind "repeat" minifigs like Dumbledore and Snape - although I already have a small army of Harries and Hermiones (where's the love for my boy Ron?). This set is four stories tall, as tall as the Great Hall + Chamber of Secrets, so it will be interesting to see how they combine. The set including both Snape and Pince got me thinking of the fan theory, that Madam Irma Pince is actually Snape's mother. "Irma Pince" is an anagram for "I am Prince", i.e. Eileen Prince, mother of Snape. Their noses are described similarly, and if you study the books, you'll notice that Pince often appears close to a Snape story beat. Just some fun speculation.
To me the 3 castle sets we got the year gose together better then last year. Oddly imo the sets this year doesn't match with last year, they should of waited until they made them this detailed to release them
Haha of course right after I mocd the great hall from chamber of secrets into the library they make one next year 😂 I think Ill get the new professor, some of those books and harrys cloak but otherwise I already have the past 2 renditions of dumbledores office so I think I'll have to pass on this set (my castle shelf is VERY full haha)
I really made a Dumbledore’s office MOC (online, not yet built) two days before the set list leaked 😬 Firstly it was based on the 2002 version with some things of the 2019 Clock tower + extra things like chandelier/telescope/Fawkes. I’m going to use the bricks from this one, but definitely not keeping it altogether. I also made a library and restricted section few weeks before that, but I’m going to adjust that with things from here.
So LEGO introduced the dual molded legs to represent stockings and the black skirt in 76399: Hogwarts Magical Trunk but not use them here on Hermione? Lame!

Definitely one of the better expansions. I really like how the entire set kinda mirrors the three stacked towers that make out Dumbledores on top of the tower.
I think the only one I’m going to get from this wave is the dragon simply for how displayable it is, maybe the shrieking shack

the 2002 version was my first Lego Harry Potter set. But I will only pick this up if it's significantly discounted on clearance
