Having 1 student from each house should be the norm for the school sets, particularly the classroom sets. I know they have to include the main trio in most sets, but it would be so nice to be able to fill out the school with lots of different students from across the houses.
My 7 year old daughter just got into the first book and film and loves Lego. And because I always wanted a Lego castle as a kid (but never got) the new modular castle system is coming at a perfect timing. 2 very happy people :)
This Harry Potter wave reminds me of 2014 Star Wars and the final waves released on the movies before the sequel trilogy released like they knew it was their last time for a while they'd make sets because new movies were coming. Kinda like they know these are the last waves of Harry Potter movie sets before they're going to have more of a tv focus so they're just really hamming it out.
Dang...didn't think about that. So while this year and next year should definitely use designs and people from the movies, it could swap over in a couple years to designs and people based on the show. Wonder if that will affect how the castle system will flow together with it's expansions.
Thank you for the choice of music. Ambient from the old Chamber of Secrets game is an automatic like from me. As for the sets: Aragog - I got 5 of these and together with 6 copies of 76432 and some 50 spiders (not to mention Ford Anglia and Fang) I've recreated the most detailed Aragog's Lair scene yet (c)(tm); the whole dark blue thing lends itself well to that. I did not expect this kind of customization potential from Harry Potter of all themes, so I'm very happy with how it turned out. Diagon Alley - I haven't built this one yet, but I'm happy to have another line with potential for expansion, excited to see how it'll look like in a few years. While individual parts might be not as ambitious as those large UCS sets, put together as a whole they can accomplish what a single $400-500 set can't. Also, Harry Potter is that one theme where I thought it wouldn't be possible to force inclusion into because of well-defined characters, but they've gone and done it ^_^ Mandrake - with Chamber of Secrets being my favorite getting this one was a no-brainer. However the mandrake not actually screaming is a missed opportunity for Lego Group, they could've easily gotten $50 more out of me by adding this feature. Nevertheless I welcome a touch of Botanical Collection in Harry Potter and if they ever made a similar-style Whomping Willow - I'd buy that in a heartbeat. Buckbeak - between it looking too mechanical, me not being a huge fan of Prisoner of Azkaban, the side build having no real potential to be combined with other sets and me having 6 spare Buckbeaks from my Aragog endeavour - it stands to reason I did not get this one. Triwizard - way I see this it was a mistake to try and combine so many things into a single set at this price range. Sacrifices had to be made, and the carriage is smaller and simpler compared to 75958 and feels like a side build. While the ship, supposedly a star of the set, also ended up kinda cramped and unwieldy. I did not get this one either. Potions - it's pretty impressive how much they accomplished with such a limited space. But I'd liked it more if ingredient holders came with lids so that those small pieces didn't fly all over the place. And then there's an elephant in the room - this build is obviously more detailed to those that come with 76435, making them look inferior next to it; and you also end up with 3 while you can only display 2 of them at a time. Great Hall - I saved building it for last, but overall I was happy to discover Atticus designed it and it offers a welcome change from those small and boring Boathouse and the Owlery. I agree it's a bit early to pass judgement on the castle system as a whole and looking forward to see what future holds for it.
Just a few alineas (enters) would have helped make it more readable, but I can understand where you are coming from. Making your own spider lair seems like fun thing and I think your points about the ship are valid. Holly basically comes to the same conclusion that the ship is just too small. This is a case where being too stingy with it's relatively high budget really hurt the viability of the set as a whole. I wouldn't touch this with a ten foot pole for its price. Also, why include only 1 pegasus for a carriage that clearly has 6? At the very least they could have tried using 2, potentially 4. This clearly should have been a set on its own, to give them both the love they clearly didn't get from the designers. Even if this is featured together in the movie, they are seperate entities and a lot of people just would want 1 of these and not both. With freeing up some of the parts budget they could have made the ship wider and more accessible and the carriage could be a real set with enough pegasi to make it closer to the one it is supposed to resemble. Once again, I'm not a HP expert at all, but sometimes the perspective of an outsider looking at them as just Lego sets, can really help to get out all the fanboism / fangirlism.

Great review, as always. I just finished building the Potions Classroom and Olivanders/Madame Malkin's. I think they're both great. The only fault I could give is that the arch pieces (in the classroom) could have been printed instead of stickers. You get 6 of them in the set, that should make it worth being printed. Next up is the Great Hall. Can't wait!
One of the first Lego HP sets I purchased was the 75954 Great Hall (2018?) and I still havent seen another version of it that I like more (with pricing consideration)
Just hoped the great hall itself would little bit bigger, more smallers detailes. Like we have no fireplace, the teachers table without statue nor house point things. Etc.
Awesome wave The old ship is better with details and more room, the new one looks better Both carriages are awesome The new potions bubbling potions pieces are cool The minifigures are awesome 3:53 The standard wizard minifigure is actually great, reminds me of Newt Scamander The arm printing really adds a lot The Great Hall set should have been just the great hall but bigger and more accurate, and the bathroom and common room (with the kitchen) should have been in another set
Oh and the Beauxbatons flying horses are NOT "Pegasus". They're Abraxans. Pegasus isn't a breed of flying horses. It's the name of the flying horse in greek mythology 😂
Those dress torsos from Madam Malkin’s shop made me wish we had Lego sets of something I’d never imagined I’d want. Lego Peaky Blinders! Just imagine a Thomas Shelby Minifigure 😍 I wonder how a cloth piece would look as an overcoat? 🤔🤪
i do love the setting of the og digon alley (idk if i spelt that right) but i do feel as though its too big whereas this new one is a little better because not everyone has the space for all that.
At SWC 2023, my main purchase was a Rebels art piece by Jodie Ray Charity. She makes pretty great Rebels Prints, I'd recommend you keep an eye out for something you like, it'd make a pretty glad backdrop for your display. The piece I picked up was titled "We are connected" (would seriously recommend getting it if you could find someone selling, its absolutely beautiful).
I was so excited for the diagon alley expansion when it was being leaked, but I’m actually disappointed by it and probably won’t get it 😢 Padma’s new skin tone makes her not look like Parvati’s twin, and I think the old one looked more accurate. And you voiced my thoughts exactly with the lack of details. Weasleys Wizard Wheezes stood out to me for the amazing minifigure selection and niche references, and this just doesn’t reach that level for me. But I guess that’s the benefit of this new system; I can pass on this one, and still build up a diagon alley over the next few years ❤
Im really looking forward to getting Ollivanders and Madam Malkins. I have the large diagon alley and I originally didnt want these playsets but they are just so cute. The Durmstrang ship is the first set I want to buy as Ive been waiting for it so long. I think the potions classroom is well done for the size and Im really looking forward to how this new castle system turns out as I like the 2018-2020 ones but didnt really like the modulars
Could you measure the Great Hall from the flat front of the staircase straight to the back corner of the hall? I want to display it with the boathouse clipped onto the front and facing directly forward on my shelf, so that diagonal measurement is really important lol
The sets that you have showed on this video, I am only going to buy the great hall, the ship and carriage, diagon alley and the potions class. The buckbeak is expensive for what it is, the mandrake I didn’t like it and Aragog Im not going to buy because I don’t like spiders. The spider of the potions class is going straight to trash. The potions class and the others rooms I will display wide open apart from the great hall, I think that the interior is beautiful. I really liked the sets of this year! As a new collector of Lego is good to see a new wave of diagon alley and the Hogwarts castle, it is a great opportunity for us. I really want them all!
Would be very curious to see how the great hall integrates with some of the other new sets, never been a HP fan (#castlefan #piratesfan) but I picked up the Owlery and the new great hall is very tempting 😂
I only got the potion class so far and I love it so much!! I definitely want the olivanders and madam malkin shop and maybe even buckbeak (only cuz tit would fit into my third year theme)
I'm impressed with the production value of this video. It blows away the general quality of ash, bricksbymind and just2good these days. The rooms reverb is a bit of an issue, but I'm guessing there is acoustic foam buried somewhere to setup.
She might be renting a room from him because she just moved to Florida like while she gets in her feet. And he might have those shelves in another room. Or maybe they are an item cuz that would be fun.
@@ajames3062 i really dont think they would fit, ryan is a whiny brat, but again he probably have enough influence to attract the prettiest female lego youtuber
Evenings all have been interested in the potter lego for some time but never really bought into it... but would this new wave HW castle build be a good point to jump on as I assume we'll be seeing updates most of the past potter lego line????
24:11 you do realise it has 397 pieces for 40 dollar is one of the most amazing price per piece ratio you would want for any lego theme right? 25:51 no it is not really worth it bc 1752 pieces for 200 dollar is a very bad price per piece (but i got it for an 77 euro discount so i had to pay 123 euro instead of 200)
This wave is pretty cool but I'll likely not be collecting all of them, maybe the Great Hall and Aragog set. Honestly have more Harry Potter themed minifigures that rivals my Star Wars and Marvel figs since collecting the HP sets since 2018! 😂

I really want them all!
just checking, wsnt the toilet at level 3 in the movie?
Would be very curious to see how the great hall integrates with some of the other new sets, never been a HP fan (#castlefan #piratesfan) but I picked up the Owlery and the new great hall is very tempting 😂
THIS IS THE BEST DUMBLEDORE MINIFIGURE I'VE EVER SEEN😮
Just needs the cmf's hat which has more detail
I only got the potion class so far and I love it so much!! I definitely want the olivanders and madam malkin shop and maybe even buckbeak (only cuz tit would fit into my third year theme)
Can’t wait to meet you at Brickworld this weekend
WOOOHOOO!!! My table is in the front right as you walk in, the pink will give it away 😂
See you there!
The only thing stopping me from buying the Great Hall, is that it will not fit in my IKEA DETOLF display cabinet.
Great Review of the sets. Have fun at Brickworld.
Isn’t there a big diagon alley Lego set that rentals for like 400 dollars
I'm impressed with the production value of this video. It blows away the general quality of ash, bricksbymind and just2good these days. The rooms reverb is a bit of an issue, but I'm guessing there is acoustic foam buried somewhere to setup.
Yo is that MandRs setup 😂
She might’ve just gotten the same shelves
@@notclever or they are an item
@@slaviclad9705 hm…..idk
She might be renting a room from him because she just moved to Florida like while she gets in her feet. And he might have those shelves in another room. Or maybe they are an item cuz that would be fun.
@@ajames3062 i really dont think they would fit, ryan is a whiny brat, but again he probably have enough influence to attract the prettiest female lego youtuber
So happy ive grown older and i dont need to convince my parents to get the sets anymore 🤣
That Potions step is steep though, as you mentioned!
Awesome you had the Mandrake crying when you removed it from the pot
Great Review Holly! The Hogwarts Legacy music made me wanna go and replay that game again 😆
Evenings all have been interested in the potter lego for some time but never really bought into it... but would this new wave HW castle build be a good point to jump on as I assume we'll be seeing updates most of the past potter lego line????
u can destroy the half of the toilet because it is on 2 1x3 jumper plates
when are you dropping the video showcasing the boathouse connected to the greathall? and Id love to know if the new hagrids hut/owlery fit in aswell
Later this week hopefully! Or early next week
@@HollyOnFilm 😁
24:11 you do realise it has 397 pieces for 40 dollar is one of the most amazing price per piece ratio you would want for any lego theme right?
25:51 no it is not really worth it bc 1752 pieces for 200 dollar is a very bad price per piece (but i got it for an 77 euro discount so i had to pay 123 euro instead of 200)
are you going to keep the older castles? im so tempted but I received the green and grey one as gifts.
I want sooooooo many things here! 😅
Only one I want is the ship. I have each of the POTC ships and I think it will go on the shelf with those.
Echo's kinda distracting but hopefully it'll get sorted out soon
Hopefully once I get more furniture and finish setting up the day bed it dampens it a bit more, otherwise I’ll get a different mic
I’m getting the collectors hedwig next month
This wave is pretty cool but I'll likely not be collecting all of them, maybe the Great Hall and Aragog set. Honestly have more Harry Potter themed minifigures that rivals my Star Wars and Marvel figs since collecting the HP sets since 2018! 😂
