1/2/22; another great job disassembling & cleaning that string weave top stool. Thought you would not pull out those tiny pin nails...but yur patients & determination is clearly much better than my grab/pull/slam/cut/(swear)/drill/grind 'good-ole-boy' burn-it-out method. Also wanted you to put each spindle into some slow turning lathe, or other device, to make cleaning & polishing those detailed turned depths easier/faster than all that wrist bending you did. Besides, we tool- centric armchair viewers could have seen more of your shop tools & how you quickly(?) clean, sand & polish numerous tubular elements of spindle chairs, stools or other round pieces. Your experience cleaning up this stool came out perfect! That weaving on the top was amazing too! Another great job! Send us more videos! Always enjoy watching your furniture transformations.👍👍👍😊🛠🍷
I'm an instrument repairman and I have learned a lot watching your refinish and touch-up techniques... Really helps when restoring the finish on orchestral stringed instruments...Thanks for the info.
When she was wrapping the seat of the chair she brought back memories of my grandmother. Back in The DR. she used to wrapped chairs, seats and other things with rope; That was made out of Palms trees leaves.
I love watching you patiently do the dismantle, repairs and then seeing the weaving was a bonus. Thanks for filming it and explaining why you do things. I have learned so much!
Trena I did some checking and found out that a weekend seminar from 9-4 Sat and Sun can run as much as 400.00 dollars and they can bring a small project to work on. I'm sure you would be a fantastic instructor and you can charge what you fill is a fair price if you ever decide to hold seminars
I really liked the part in the middle where you did some side-by-side comparisons. Your pieces always turn out beautifully, but having it side by side like that really helped to emphasis the transformation of the stool.
I love your videos and your attention to detail. I learn something new every time! I didn't grow up in this business and trying to learn has been trial and error, until I found you and Thomas Johnson. You are both master craftsman!❤️ Thank-you for sharing your talent!
Hi Trena, love watching all of your repairs. Maybe when you edit your video, at the end you could put a before and after picture of your pieces? Love your work 👍
Almost 9000 views but very few likes by comparison. Please ! Remember to hit the like button folks , these terrific videos and this very talented woman deserves the support . Happy , healthy 2022 everyone 😁
Good people don't need laws to compel them to act responsibly, while bad people will find a way around the laws, how good, see your highly form every video, congratulations
Really well done. The customer must have been ecstatic with the results. Really cool that you can provide furniture restoration and chair seat weaving in one place.
Another great job. I would have thrown it away. Another case of wished I could have seen the look on your clients face when they came for it. Hope you have a Happy and safe New Year from Pennsylvania.
For us who know ZERO about repairing and refinishing furniture maybe you can tell the cost to bring back the furniture from the land fill or fire pile. Thank you for sharing your skills, it is very interesting to watch craftmanship at its finest....
YOU ARE REMINDING ME OF A REPAIR MY MOTHER DID ON THE DRESSER I USED AS A KID. I AM GOING TO HAVE TO REMOVE THAT REPAIR TO REGLUE IT PROPERLY. GLUE WAS ALL SHE NEEDED BACK THEN, BUT SHE DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO DO ANY FURNITURE REPAIR AT ALL. HER REPAIR LASTED, BUT I HAVE TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT NOW - GLUE~ HERE'S A NEAT BIT OF INTO ABOUT THE PIECE. THE PIECE (DRESSER) IS ORORIGINAL TO THE HOUSE I GREW UP IN.
Another beautiful restore, Trena. And your friend weaving is amazing to watch (I loved how Shop Dog was “supervising”, although it looked like she thought it might be a game too? lol). Just saw as I was commenting you posted a new video. Yay!💜
I like to watch just to see what you do with a broken-down piece of furniture. And I can see you take pride and your hard work in your shop to make things beautiful again. Beautiful job as always.
Ok that's a very cool trick with twisting out those nails! Thanks. Also thinking I'll try that Crud cutter stuff. Figure if both you and Tom J are using it, it's gotta be good.
I have several chairs and stalls that need that particular weave on top. Sadly where I live there are no weavers left so I will have to teach myself off of RUclips in order to redo the seats. The only thing other option that I know of is to strap the seat firmly and put foam and upholstery wadding then covering over with material. Your friend doing the weaving is very good.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from me in Australia to you and your family hope you had a beautiful Christmas and New Year ...LOVE watching your videos, God Bless...
I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say I'd like more reactions clips from the owners at the end, with their permission of course. After all the fantastic hard work you do on the journey, it's so satisfying to see a happy customer's smile and tears.
Having just disassembled and reglued a spindle back chair myself, I thought you might be interested in my method for cleaning off the old glue on the spindles and inside the holes. I chuck the spindle in my 1/2" battery drill and hold sandpaper on the opposite end which gives a nice glue free surface. For the holes, I use a MIG welder tip cleaning wire brush which has a wire shank that I chuck into the battery drill. It's a stiff bristle brush and really gets out the old glue. For the larger diameter spindles and rungs, consider your 3 jaw chuck in the wood lathe. It will save many sore fingers and much time hand sanding them.
I hope you give talks to kids, especially female students on the possibilities of alternative careers for females. You make a fantastic role model besides producer of great videos. Thank you and your parents .
I have become a new watcher of your channel. You popped up in my feed and I am so glad you did. I do a lot of furniture repair too but you are giving some great tips. God bless
Turned out great... as usual. So much of your work is in the details... it's a skill to know what to repair and what not to repair or fix... in this case you knew that cleaning it up would turn out like it would... impressive!
I often wonder why people love to watch my curtain making videos but I realise I love to watch other people ply their skills particularly those I don't possess so I guess I've answered my own question there 😁 I'm particularly impressed by your skill of blending in new repairs. So absorbing to watch 👍
I find it interesting to see your techniques. I always learn something new. Here in the Nordics, most don't appreciate this style of furniture, but the taste is different and it can have an affective value for the customer, of course.
Trena, you are a true craftswomen . Always impressed with the detailed work that you do. For removing small Brad nails have you tried driving them in farther with a small punch !
This little stool turned out beautifully. Another great video and Happy New Year. I can't believe 2000+ views and only 539 likes....what's up people. It doesn't cost anything to click that little thumb's up and it would really help her channel. Let's get those likes up to match the views.
One trick to get small pin nails out is to dull the tip of a pair of flush cut side cutters then cut small serrations into it so it will grip instead cut. You want a tool that is fine enough to grab the smallest bit of a nail sticking out but without the ability to cut it which is the major problem this modification fixes.
I love watching your videos and this one caught my eye as you just cleaned the stool with Krud Kutter and then used Howards Bees Was Polish. Now I know how to clean my dinning room chairs and table. Thank so much for great videos.
Thanks Trena! Always learn some new trick. Something that SOMETIMES works to get the dowels out: 2 rubber padded vice-grips, 1 on each end, to try and rotate the dowel, which makes the brads wrap around dowel, just like your rocking method. 3/4" thick semi hard rubber works best for the pads - equal protection vs. grip. Nice New Year vid.

Thanks Trena, walking those nails out was worth the price of admission! Take care.
To quote the Beatles... Love is all you need.
Jealous of your clamp collection. lol :)

Thanks for the beautiful film.
i feel its should keep in museum.
Sometimes in cases like this, you could drill a small hole into the joint and use a syringe to shoot some glue into the joint.
Ok that's a very cool trick with twisting out those nails! Thanks. Also thinking I'll try that Crud cutter stuff. Figure if both you and Tom J are using it, it's gotta be good.
You will love it
Glad you showed some of the weaving
