    The info your putting out with these episodes is game changing for guys like me. Today I just installed a fresh pair of tires up front in my car as well as a completely different front suspension and geometry set up on my very low hp car, to help maximise the speed I need to carry in and thru line I chose and not losing any energy or direction change thru tire deformation. After watching this I’m realising not only are the grippier tires I’ve installed going to keep the front end planted, but the tread pattern leading over the tires edge are really going to make a night and day difference when weights shifted thru transition, allowing for significantly quicker rotation when I want it. Really looking forward to more videos from you guys!

Second time i used 235/45r17s and only had one pair on the car the whole day. And could still get a few more laps with them. I'll definitely be buying more of the wider bigger tires. This is really good information. Quick question: I have a is300 with a stock 2jz (around 200hp and tq) and I was wondering if you think I would be able to spin up used 265s and get better life compared to what I'm currently running which is 215s. I know you mentioned running higher pressure on wider tires but I'm curious how wide I could run with very little hp.

    Awesome information on tires , alot of ppl over look, as they progress they forget to upgrade tires!
    But i think to help understand tire spec i think explaining what car and how much Hp your car is will help people new to drifting getting a better understanding.
    Cause tire wear on a low power under (250hp>) car is different from med-high (300-500) horsepower.

    • @driftcrash2286

  • @driftalliance1556

    hey mitto :) great video, really love the content of your channel. i have looked the tires up and found out that both are semislick tires. therefore i assume that these will require more power to get sideways. as you stated, higher pressure will result in a more "baloony" tire, meaning that it can help when the car's power isn't enough, yet you are sacrificing the outer edges. up to which pressure would you suggest running a semislick tire? and which tires would you suggest in low power cars? because as you stated the width of the tire is crucial in terms of heat. so it would not make sense running a 205 semislick over a 255 "normal" tire in my opinion. what do you think about that?

    • @driftcrash2286
      @driftcrash2286  4 года назад +1

      It’s just simply down to more rubber taking longer to heat up. Don’t over think it! I think 60-70psi cold is absolute max. You can push further, but there is simply no point. 50ish is generally good 🙂✌️

  • @Yernaritsbarry
    @Yernaritsbarry 4 года назад +1

    With a 265 tyre running on mid power levels on stock drive train components and very fast shock loads from drifting I would think it's more likely to break a gearbox, CVS, drive shaft etc. I'm running a 235-245 tyre at around 25-30psi on my jzx100 making 450hp . I have run higher pressures in tyres in the past and have found that it starts to wear the center of the tyre as it starts to Ballon the tyre. Great video by the way wouldnt mind trying some zeknovas soon but I'm scared I'll break my driveline with the extra surface area of the tyre it's going to load everything up harder we're as a skinny tyre won't load up the drive line as much and has less resistance

    • @driftcrash2286
      @driftcrash2286  4 года назад

      Lloyd Royer use scrubbed in ones or the higher tread wear. Also, if you are breaking boxes, diffs and CVs regularly, there is another problem there besides the tyre grip ✌️
      JZX is a heavy car. You have to drive with that in mind and not depend on power alone.

    I'm upgrading to 265 -35-18 for next season, because i was burning throug my 225-45-17 way to fast. So i totally agree with you on that one.
    my plan is to go for the cheapest street tire i can find (ovation or infinity) i think semislicks would be too much grip for my car. (e36 430hp with 325i diff and axles)

    Great vid Mitto, I’m new to the channel so got a lot to catch up on.
    So, to maximise tyre life of practice tyres, and reap the benefits of having put a heat cycle through them to cure them, would it be worth doing the following
    .
    Installation lap at lower pressure to build heat
    Swap to 2nd set for a heat cycle
    Then back to the 1st set but at higher pressure to negate heat build up
    Back to the 2nd set when the 1st set is worn out.

    I finally went out to the skidpad and there were a lot of issues with the car I believe: wouldn’t self steer much; transitions felt wonky I had brand new all seasons up front and lightly used all seasons at the back. I’m pretty sure I got it all wrong. Car wasn’t aligned one bit; front tires were bigger than the rear; coilovers were racelands and probably were way too stiff all over for drifting.
    I’ve got plans to get BR BC racing coilovers; an angle kit; rear subframe reinforcement with new solid bushings for the subframe; diff; and rear trailing arms. Also a hydro ebrake. the stock wouldn’t lock at all even after multiple adjustments

    Hmm the tread pattern on the Rs606r1 looks suspiciously similar to the Valino one 👀👀🙈🤣🤣

      Geoff Tennant they all look suspiciously similar to an AD08R. It’s a pattern that works.

    Do you a have front tire set up?

    • @driftcrash2286
      @driftcrash2286  4 года назад +1

      Equal or less grip than the rear. I run a 245/40/17 front and 265/35/18 rear.

      @elijahhenry5971 4 года назад

      Drift Crash have you tried a soft compound and wider than rear tire in front with high offset wheels. To increase front mechanical grip. Attempting to purchase a proper set up soon that’s not just your typical 175/45

      Kenda KR20 are a good tyre, no doubt about that. But if you want to step your driving up, you have to step your tyres up ✌️
