Normally I would like this, but yall should really just listen to Chelsea all the way through. If you can't make it through a 37 minute video I'm almost certain your car is set up wrong 🤣🤷🏼♂️
This is what makes Chelsea one of this greatest influences in drifting. Helping people get past the learning curve makes drifting enjoyable instead of fighting the car constantly and being miserable and giving up.
The GOAT has spoken! Thank you so much for sharing your extensive knowledge with some of us knuckle draggers. Hoping to dial mine in using this information.
I've raced various motorsport platforms. Drifting is by far the best group of folks when it comes to sharing setups and giving advice on what goes fast and what doesnt. Kudos to the folks that share wisdom and help progress motorsports.
"Don't get beat down by your poorly setup car" Thanks for the tips man. Well explained for on the fly explanation. The hands demonstrating angles helps a lot. I'll be using a purpose built string alignment kit since its my first time aligning the car after some changes. I will be looking for tow plates now as well.
As a person who is only planning on building a car later but is heavy into sim drifting, thank you SO much. This was basic, yet in-depth enough as to where it got me thinking further in to whatever setting can do. I appreciate so much.
Never had anyone explain this as simple and clear as possible! Thanks man.. I’ll definitely look into the drift settings I have now and follow your rule of thumb settings.
I keep coming back to this video every time my car gets any new parts or tires. I’ve passed it on a lot. It’s helpful even for a street car to understand what’s going on and how to have the alignment techs setup the car how I like it to drive. Thanks again for what you do.
I don’t even have a real drift car yet lol but surprisingly this stuff helps a ton in sim drifting. Love these types of videos man! Been binge watching them lately lol 🤙🏼
This is why he's so good at drifting, he understand suspension dynamics and implements it in his driving style and adapts it to the track. It's not just all driver "skill" also mechanic know how. Chelsea this isn't complicated, people that are not the "masses" appreciate these in depth topics. I've been working, driving, and setting up my own cars for over 16 years now. And there is always more to learn from people dedicated to their sport and niche. For example that 0 camber at 60% angle tip is just what I needed to learn, and to confirm my thoughts on suspension angle and how the car reacts during drift. My alignment feels spot on but will check for 0 camber at 60%
you’re the man Chelsea. I appreciate what you’re doing for the sport of drifting and helping others learn rather than trying to gatekeep like some douchebags
Amazing information. Back when I was drifting, no-one considered Ackermann. We had to control wash out with what we had. I've recently sat with a current local pro driver and at times I thought he would wash out, he drove right out of the corner with angle and I was blown away. Drifting has really come a long way.
Chelsea telling me everything i did wrong last weekend including the effects on my driving… Thank you for this video. It will help us alot because my alignment guy is only experienced in time attack.
This was awesome! I learnt something with ideal values for Ackerman and caster and I'm keen to have a play with my 2 knuckle setups. Something you didn't touch on was setting up the rear for a live axle car, my Aussie Ford Falcon is a parallel 4 link with a watts, and I was hoping to learn about how where you want roll centres for drifting (front and rear) and the ideal amounts to roll the diff angle for grip. Thanks for the video 😊
You are really helping so many ppl with this info. also checked ur other video about suspension and i think i know so much more what is happening and why 😄 internet is a funny thing nowdays because u can learn everything here (in theory)
Thanks again for another awesome video Chelsea. I’ve bought/built my e36 because of you and all the knowledge you share. Couldn’t have done it without you dude👊🏼
Cheers for the comprehensive vid man, I’m currently trying to get my skills and car handling down pat in my e36 sedan, its only got an m43B18 so literally the bare minimum to go get sideways so I’m hoping in doing that I can hone my skills and make the car handle as best it can before I put some party power into it. Good on you mate
Thank you so much for the info! I know quite a bit about alignment setups already and feel like I understand even more now! I definitely like and learned from this video!
Love that you're willing to share the knowledge! Also love all those carbon trophies behind you and the Fordfest shirt! Can't wait to see ya again this year!!!
Great video, thank you for the upload. I have a long term project 89 240sx and only recently just understood the benefits of drip knuckles with caster with an offset trail. Original used chopped knuckles with a coil over drop. Excited to watch more great info and shenanigans. I am half way through a video of yours explaining how drift judging are assessed. Really neat stuff. Cheers!
This is probably one of the best videos and explanations I have watched about how alignmet effects how the car steer. I have been fighting where my car will want to snap to full lock when I am driving agressivly behind a car on faster tracks (like Texas Motor Speedway) and wanting to spin on fast transitions. Now I have a basic understanding on caster and akerman when before I was pretty much just guessing and driving around an issue.
Also is there any difference when setting up a car for the rain? I have always had a problem with my corvette being very unpredictable in the rain and being very slow compared to even a 350z
@@Sancro21 RTR swap the whole rear cradles for their wet setups in the mustangs, so it’s safe to say there’s a major difference between the wet and dry setups
This was explained so well. I know it may not be a real car but on my sim I have been struggling and struggling trying to figure out why the car is so snappy and what to change. Having changed almost everything maybe forwards and backwards steps, I feel confident at this point that it could be caster because the car has almost 10 degrees of caster and the wheel just blasts through my hands and slams lock. Also the detail of dialing the camber at about 60-80 percent of lock is actually big brain stuff. Thank you so much for this. Also sorry for late like and view but thank you.
I’m very new to IRL drifting. Watching FDF’s suspension geometry series before this video set me up perfectly for Chelsea’s explanation! Highly recommend the series if you’re new to IRL drifting/suspension tuning.
Videos like that is always appreciated man, I’ve watched your whole RUclips channel before I set up my car haha this shit never gets old next video you could explain alignment stuff on the car reach different audience 🙌🏽 Thanks for teaching us 💪🏼
Excellent bro thanks for sharing really appreciate it so much 👍🏽 Now to go back to basics on my E36 again after 10 years of drifting it, gonna start with a clean slate & get it dialled 🙂
Great information. Watching the amount of speed you carry through the banks at most tracks I was trying to understand how the left foot braking would hold you up further up the bank. When I would do this in my car it would shoot me closer to the apex. Now I finally understand the importance of the toe out as I run 3degree tow in on the front of my FD RX7. Looking forward to trying this at our next even.
This is rad, I’ve been struggling with my 350z flopping to lock like crazy, happy to learn a few things and looks like a great excuse to start from scratch with my alignment to get it where I’m comfortable with it.
Thank you for helping me understand what everything does and the consequence of adding more or less angle. I'm very new to setting up my car and this is really helpful!
I am setting up a 350z right now and I had/have no clue how much I had to learn until I got the parts to put on the car. I have bc br series coil overs and gk tech angle, welded diff and so far that’s it
I have the same setup. I’m running -4.5 camber in the front with an 1/8 toe out with 8 caster. I’m running all 0 in the rear. To me, it runs well. Like he said start at factory specs and go from there
Thank you for the lessons, The drift life seems so much like the bmx scene. Hopefully someday I can play a game of drift instead of bike! I am just starting to be able to link turns.so much fun.
Great content Chelsea clear and concise basic set up as a beginner myself it's very hard to know if it's the car or me at this point a bit of both as I have too much caster So thanks again keep up the great work
that toe out actually sounds good for me, drift a e36 320i 150hp stock at the moment and it drives forward plenty but wants to straighten until i push it too far then it rotates easily, feels like drifting it is always between straightening and spinning
Not sure if im a really bad "drift info" reasearcher or the truth is that no one out there wants to explain drifting settings. We all know what camber, toe, caster, etc is.. but the question is how it affects the car! Awesome video Chelsea! Please keep them coming! Also if they are longer but more detailed, in my case, I wouldnt mind haha

All bow to the man trying to help everyone have more fun and be able to succeed. You truly are the MVP Denofa!!
Bump! I shared this on Instagram, best video for drifting I have seen in awhile! Thanks!
Started watching this yesterday, when I came back it said private....
Was like hell no!!!
Need this knowledge!!!!!
Say howdy, get rowdy boys!!!
This is what makes Chelsea one of this greatest influences in drifting. Helping people get past the learning curve makes drifting enjoyable instead of fighting the car constantly and being miserable and giving up.
You are totally right... It's because of him that I understood how judging works in FD...
The GOAT has spoken! Thank you so much for sharing your extensive knowledge with some of us knuckle draggers. Hoping to dial mine in using this information.
Dude this broke everything that I needed to know down will be watching this a few more times as I get my setup going🤙👌
This was by far easier to understand than even FDF's videos and they have a visual diorama to explain stuff but they don't explain it like this.
This helped a ton. Finally someone that explains how each part of the alignment affects in real time drifting. Thanks 😎
Im a Honda kid and love how interesting this stuff is and how well you explain it yet simple enough for everyone to understand. Keep killin it🙌🏼

I know this was basically for drifting, yet it was so helpful with just a normal street setup that has adjustable parts.
All these alignment videos are insanely helpful both for irl and on the sim, it's because of these videos I learned how to tune my ac cars tysm
Never had anyone explain this as simple and clear as possible! Thanks man.. I’ll definitely look into the drift settings I have now and follow your rule of thumb settings.
This is great! I feel all we need now is someone to take this video and do a voice-over of all the different types of drifting "hand gestures"
