Wow just found this i have to say i think I've been messing with my brushes i just really like the way you put it out there simple and i liked your look yes i subscribed ty
This is genius! So many fantastic tips in one video. It's always so frustrating to watch eye tutorials by folks whose eyes are big and lifted, because those looks aren't available to many of us. I would love to see a tutorial like this for a more dramatic evening look. Thanks so much!!
I love the do not pass line!! I need some. Definition under my eyes, have been using eyeliner, but it can be a little weird looking… I like your idea better! Can’t wait to try it!!!
Guess who came back for another watch! I'm just tweaking the finer points and needed a reminder. This vid is giving me confidence and encouragement, thank you (again). 🌟🧡🌟🧡🌟🧡🌟🧡🌟🧡🌟
The tight lining on the top lashes is life changing! It gives such nice definition in a more subtle way. I just stared doing this recently and wish I would have thought to do it all along!
I used to do your tip #1 always and was always happy with my eyeshadow shades. But through the years and lots of new products, I seem to have stopped. Well thank you; tomorrow I go back to that method😊
I’m so glad I found your channel today. This is THE best video I’ve seen addressing makeup for hooded eyes. You break it all down, telling us WHY and not just how. Love this! Thanks so much 💕
Thanks for reaffirming my eyeshadow routine. I don’t have large eyes and they have become more hooded as I age (72). Luckily I have a lot of space between my eyelid and my eyebrow but with practically no mobile lid. I found the no pass zone quite by accident several years ago when I realized that staying inside brought the eye up. I actually draw it in like you do. As far as a base goes, I realized a lighter base color would mimic an artist’s canvas so I’ve always used a lighter shade first. It was always matte as there were no shimmery shades available to the public in the 60’s. Shimmers are not fabulous on my older eyes unless I keep them to a minimum and quite low. I also do a partial drop line facing up and find if I start with a powder and then go over lightly with a pencil , usually a bronze color. Going over the fold is a game changer- really lifts the eye. This is my first time viewing your channel but you really understand eye makeup for challenging eye shapes so I have just subscribed. Thank you.
Wow. I never even thought of using an all-over base shadow on top of eyeshadow primer. No wonder my eyeshadow looks like plaid after a few hours. Thanks!
I really like the tip about putting a skin color shadow all over before adding any other color. My aging eyelids do have some darkness and I DO have problems blending sometimes. Thanks for some great tips!
I am petite and managed eventually to work out that I needed smaller brushes. this is the first video I have ever seen that make this fundamental point. so important. the rest I knew and do but she explains it so well. wish we had this help when I was younger!
I really learn so much from your tutorials; not only do you show application but your explain why. Thank you so much for all the advice and help. You make my makeup experience so much more pleasant.
A makeup artist at a department store used a shadow all over my eyes as you did here. Then she applied the eyeshadows. I didn't know why she used the all over shadow, but you explained why this hack is important. I've never used an all over shadow, but I will for here on out. I don't see many makeup artist using this technique. It certainly makes a big difference.
Thank you so much I have been doing my eye shadow for so many years and learning such great tip and tricks like this is so helpful I am doing this as I get ready for work thank you love every tip you gave and mind you i am 52 yrs so
I can't wait to try these techniques. I have crepy hooded eyes, would you please suggest or do a tutorial suggesting the best colors to use to make the creping less noticable or harsh. Thank you so much!
Hi Tina! On my huded eyes I find the best working shadows are the medium or lighter transition/ crease shades. And also I use these on the lower lashlines, too. I do not have to much lid space but at least I still can use a lot of shimmer colours dark or light. Hope this helps.
I have gray hair, so I tried these techniques with different shades of gray. Wow! Makes a HUGE difference. Thanks for making this so easy to understand.
Great video Love to see a sequel taking that look and showing how to add a deeper shade in outer corner, how do use darker shimmer shades in a palette and perfect placement of lid shades for hooded/smaller eyes.
Great! I try to follow tutorials from different youtubers but my eyebrows just don’t have a strong arch so never comes out the same as I don’t have same real estate shape to shade.
You are the first person I have seen basically say it’s ok not to line the upper lash line and just tightline. I have never liked how my eyes look with liner on top but every video seemed to say how important it is to line but I love what you say about that and to focus on the bottom. Thank you!
I love putting my face bronzer in my crease with a fluffy brush and my highlighter in the center of my lid with my finger. I’m not 100% positive but I think it was you that taught me to do that.🙂
Thank you so much for the tips and tricks. I'm still learning how to put eyeshadows, what foundation is good on me (I do not even know my skin tone until I bought my first foundation) and the brushes I need to use. I do not wear make-up when I go to work before the pandemic. I only use moisturizer, SFP 30, lipstick and face powder. Since I'm teleworking beginning of the pandemic (still is), I decided to learn how to put my make-up on and started watching RUclips. Your video will really help me a lot. Again, thank you so much!
As a mature woman with hooded eyes your tips are very useful. Most of all I appreciate you zooming the camera in so you can follow exactly what you are doing.
Man you got me 100% on smashing the brush on my lid line. Thanks for correcting that. I have lines under my eyes. I stopped using eye makeup on my bottom years ago because I watch the anchor woman in Tx say to stop if you have lines. So tell me, is there a hack for woman who have lines underneath? I’m so trying my bronzer tomorrow. It’s a beautiful color. I have hooded eyes big time. I suffer from migraines and get Botox. And where he has to put some of the shots has made them worse. I’m not complaining it’s helped my migraines. But love these hacks.
I have watched thousands of makeup tutorials. i love them. I have never saw anyone explain every step and the reason why half as good as you do.. First time viewer & I am impressed....
Great information, i always take my shadow out to far and end up putting a light colour over it so u cant see my mistake! I have special papers shaped like an eye and stick it on my eye so my mascara doesnt get on my face!
Wow Elle I just tried all your tips and even though it wasn’t perfect it was a huge improvement. I know with practice I will get better at it. Can’t thank you enough!😊
I just found you today and these tips were really helpful! I especially liked the one where you go back toward the lower lashline because my eyes have gotten smaller with age and I definitely have a hollow place in that area. Thanks so much, Elle! Looking forward to seeing more of your videos!
I really enjoyed your tips & tricks and watched your video several times; as a result I followed all of them and have received so many compliments. Thank you so much.
I’ve been searching for hooded eye techniques and came across some of your older videos. The do not pass line is genius. I’ve been struggling with not making my eyes look so droopy. Using your eye lift technique has helped so much. Thank you for making me feel more confident with eyeshadow with my hooded eyes ❤️
This is exactly the video I was looking for. I struggle with eyes- mainly putting it on to blend (no pass zone) and also the winging part to lift- I have that little wrinkle skin that you mentioned that always keeps me from trying to lift or wing. I have natural almond/round eyes that want to turn down.
I really enjoyed your video. I learned so much! Do you do private tutorials via zoom? I would love some private lessons on applying makeup to my older skin.
Hi Elle I am now 71 and have always worn makeup , I use lots of facial serum etc but I now buy only affordable products, not high end. I use a retinoid as I have had acne issues when I was younger and have continued with skin issues which tend to be blocked pores which end up as whiteheads sometimes pretty large ones. Should I be using any else and am I doing the correct thing? Your tips on coverage are very good and I following lots of your videos, Any advice would be welcome. Thank you.
Beautiful application! Thank you for the helpful tips! It's always useful to "return to basics", even after years of practice. I often get a quick technique down but ignore the finer details or just forget. Helpful reminder to slow down and be purposeful with our beauty art. ❤️ I hope you are doing well darling! Ta ta! 💋
Thank you great video and techniques. Just wondering though you said use transition shade under eye, but the color looks much darker than your transition shade.
When I tightline, it really really emphasizes how the outer corners of my eyes turn down. I also have no success with lining my bottom lashes. It emphasizes my undereye circles. What I have learned to do is to keep the liner in my lash bed up to the spot where my eyes start to turn down and then I line on my lid close to my lashline and turning the line up a little bit.
This is aN eye and face shape problem. Check Emma Chamberlaine at 2021 met Gala how lining the bottom drags her face down Corpse bride style cause her eyes are round and extend the most verticly in the middle. Sophia loren classic eye look solves this cause the line raise completely at the outer edge of the Iris both up and down, and not the end of the eye itself (ignores it and covers it in beige/white). The bottom lashline is also lid space and you have to put a base there if it smudges into your undereye to create a barrier.
i have heard sophia loren applies false lashes with the end a little highed than her actual eye so they appear more feline/cat eyer and fills the area where skin is w eyeliner- too much work for me, but just a fun fact!!
It is so awesome to see a influencer who knows about & loves Le Mieux ❣I am 52 & I take impeccable care of my skin & would love you to do a video on Le Mieux! I agree!
Is that not eyeshadow??
@@megansmedia9034 She has some natural brown pigment on her eyelid area that may have been enhanced with a sweep of bronzer.
The “do not pass line” is such a good pointer to help keep the eyes looking lifted and youthful.
yay!!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
Doing the “no pass line” with the transition shade is genius. Great video as usual.

the best shades are light and matte. if you use shimmer or foiled shades, it will draw attention to any lines or wrinkles on your lid.
