Taking delivery on mine next week. I retired my Ariens zoom 34 after 12 years of hard use. The L hydro finnaly blew. But 12 years! This one looks like way better build quality.
It only lasts 5 to 10 years???? That means I should have tossed away my John Deere about 12 to 17 years ago. Strangely enough it is still running and cutting lawns just fine thanks.

Ariens does not want to build things to last it seems..well that's a easy no sale for me as i like my equipment to last.
5-10 years seems like a throw-away to me. My JD tractor has lasted 20 years and counting. Looking to replace it since the little breakdowns are now starting to add up. Might have to pass on this one if it only lasts 5-10 years. Too bad, heard good things about the Ariens brand.

Kawasaki v twin on the 52. $3899 at Lowe's.
The Kawasaki engine is pretty much bullet proof and I wouldn't purchase another mower without it.
Is there a bag attachment?
How many grease fittings are on this mower. I only see 2 on front casters

I noticed there are no anti-scalp wheels on the deck. Is this an issue?
Also, would the optional armrests be useful or a waste$ for a 1/2 acre yard?

No anti scalp wheels are not an issue if you have a relatively flat yard. The armrests would be personal preference but in my opinion you would not need them for 1/2 an acre.
i have a 1/2 acre yard, is this overkill for that yard?
Forty-two inches is good for 1 acre and under. You should be done in 30 minutes or less. Be careful buying a zero-turn if you have steep slopes. In that case you would be better off with a Husqvarna tractor with limited-slip in the rear diff.
