Great way to think about work. I’ve recently changed my perspective on goals in a very similar way. I used to set myself targets each week like exercise 1hr 3x a week or ‘do at least 6 pomodoro focus sessions per day. These were hard to hit consistently which lead to feelings of guilt and eventually lead me to stop tracking these habits. But then I started thinking along the same lines as you mention (ie making it a game to make it more fun). I realised this is MY game so I can make up the rules so that I have a better chance of winning. So I cut the metrics down to something that was really easy to hit. After several weeks of ‘winning’ I was getting better at establishing these habits and it was then easier to increase the targets! Steve
Thanks Adrian. I think this hits the nail of why we hit stress points in our day to day lives - it is defining "what does this mean to me?". And the idea of turning it into a problem solving game sounds like a great way to inject a bit of fun into an otherwise difficult day. And it also transfers the power of control as well.

"It also transfers the power of control" right on. Feeling that you have a grip over things makes everything more fun :)
Awesome!
