Just when I think I'm ready to ascend to the Iron Throne of education technology, New EdTech Classroom puts out a new video and bumps me back to peasant status!
Lots of great tips, I like to refer to my tabs and bookmark bar as real estate, so increasing my tab and bookmark real estate is one of my favorite tips that I pass along to all my teachers. Don’t forget you can add folders to your bookmark bar. I also like to bookmark specific folders on my Google drive so I don’t have to search each time.
How can I have a group for emails, for example if I want to send to student an email and his parents, how can I send an email without always looking for parents emails? Thank you for your help
Great tips! Quick question though regarding notifications. If I remove the ability for sites to send notifications, does that also include apps/extensions that require permission to access the microphone/camera as well ? So, if a user needs to install Screencastify, for example, they would have to go into Chrome settings to enable the mic and camera b/c the notification pop-up would be turned off. Is that correct?
Hey Stephanie, since those aren't notifications (they're permissions) they'll still go through even if you've set it for no notifications from any sites :)
Yeah, they all create ease of access. I like pinning apps that I always use so they're readily available...1 less click. I don't make Chrome apps too often. The first time I found it useful was when I joined an online group similar to Facebook but it wasn't on Facebook. I found that I kept forgetting to go check on the group but creating a separate app and putting it next to commonly used apps in my dock helped remind me to go check in with the group. I think having your gradebook as a separate app could be helpful too. And bookmarks are for websites I'd like readily available but don't need them everyday so I don't end up pinning them. Hope that helps!
The groups is way cool, but, how do I get the groups to be there when I reopen Chrome? When I clicked "use current pages" in settings and reopened Chrome, all the groups disappeared. I use Windows btw. Have learned so many great things from you guys!. Thanks.
hi, first tq for this. i have q question about the group tab. once I"ve grouped my tabs, how can I pin it? i tried pinning a single tab and it worked but failed with a group tab. tq

Thanks for all the tips. Just a quick question. How can I group tabs which are already there in Windows? "Shift" doesn't seem to work when I hold it.
Hm, try holding Control or Alt while clicking and see if that works. You can also add them one at a time to a group.
My favorite was create app out of website, mind blowing
Yeah I just learned about it a couple months ago! I only do it for a couple of apps but love it.

thanks - what's the difference between making an app and pinning and bookmarks? they all seem to serve the same purpose
Yeah, they all create ease of access. I like pinning apps that I always use so they're readily available...1 less click.

The only way to keep them even after closing out of Chrome is to use the 'continue where you left off' feature.

Unfortunately you can't pin grouped tabs :( You'll have to manually drag them to the far left if you want them over there.
Muy bueno ✅
Gracias :) Pasa un buen dia!
How do you add the "fake student" account to your Google Drive account if you want to show student view... looks like you need an email for that?
Holy.***. I want to marry the tab groups.I
They’re awesome 😃 I don’t know how good of a life partner they’d make. Let me know!
🤩
🔥🔥🔥
I think there is so much good information. But. Too quick and missing processes.
Can you please slow down?
Hey Colleen. Thanks for the feedback. Will for sure keep it in mind in upcoming videos.
