I really appreciate your strategies on this video because I can come back to it and refresh my memory on what to do.

    Thank you so much for inspiring my creativity! Do you know how to make seating charts that are easily to change? Maybe with a feature that puts each student or only a group of students into different spots? It's always so time consuming to drag the names into new places, sometimes a name goes missing in the process or there is only one single student who doesn't get to change seats.

    I love the remote control hack for presentations! Now I can get up and move around during class. Do you know if I can use my phone/remote like a computer mouse??

    • @PocketfulofPrimary
      @PocketfulofPrimary  9 месяцев назад +1

      YES! It's so handing for being able to move around the room while presentinging! The remove control allows you to advance through slides forward or backward and apply the magic shortcuts but it doesn't give you the ability to use a "mouse" like you would on a computer. But, you can always use a wireless mouse or a wireless presenter that has a built-in mouse feature like this one:

    Sister, you are AMAZNG! love the videos! I have gained so much from them! Thank you! A suggestion: Will you please consider making a tutorial on how to make a slide deck in Canva? I would love to be able to do all of the same things in Canva that I can do in Slides, but don't have the time to teach myself. We have adopted Canva in my district, but no one knows how to make a great slide-deck. Some things to include: how to insert your own background or template, how to make information on a slide appear line by line, how to assign slide transitions to a slide, etc. Thank you for your consideration!

    Is a scanned PDF document the only way to prevent the editing thereof in Canva? I know some teachers don't want their work to be edited/changed by someone else - for various reasons.
    Thanks so much 😁

    • @PocketfulofPrimary
      @PocketfulofPrimary  9 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you so much for your kind words! That's a great question... yes, using a scanned PDF document would prevent this. However, unfortunately it's nearly impossible to prevent the editing of standard PDFs. Even password protected PDF files can have the security stripped using different websites.

    LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!! I absolutely love all of your Canva videos!! Thank you so much!! More, please!!
    Michelle, are there different versions of Canva? I have the educator subscription, but I tried to use Magic Design, and it didn't come up like yours did. It actually showed magic wand clip art!! And when I used Magic Write with a presentation, it didn't bring up an entire presentation like yours did. I'm so sad!! Can you help? thank you!!

      Hi Jamie! Between the time that I recorded this video and it was posted on my channel, Canva actually announced and released a bunch of more AI integrated tools in the "magic" family. I'm not positive which ones are still in "beta" mode and therefore may not be available on all accounts and which ones are specific to different versions BUT I am optimistic that Canva will make more of these features available across a range of accounts soon as they continue to expand these offerings! 🤞🏼🎉

      Thank you so much Beth! I actually recently shared a vlog where I outlined how I used Canva with Nearpod for a virtual PD session that I led so that might be helpful for you... here's the link:

    Thank you for this video. Would you be able to share how to manage having students join the teacher team or account? This way I have visibility to their projects.

      Thank you so much! Since I don't have a "teacher" account connected to my school/district organization, I don't think I'll be able to create a tutorial video on this but hopefully you can find another one on RUclips!

    I love that avatars can talk to the kids by reading directions, etc. But, is there a way to add my voice to the slide without a picture? Can I add an avatar of myself?

    When I tried Magic Design in a presentation, it did not come up the same as it did on your screen. Is that in an upgraded version of Canva?

    So question, do I have to use these keyboard features during the presentation? Or can I program it into the slides in advance?

    • @PocketfulofPrimary
      @PocketfulofPrimary  9 месяцев назад

      Great question! You can't "program" them in advance, but you can use the remote control feature to use the magic shortcuts from your phone so you don't have to be at your keyboard to display them. Hopefully that makes sense!

    Can one of these be shared for students to work individually..like nearpod..or is this primarily for presenting

    • @PocketfulofPrimary
      @PocketfulofPrimary  9 месяцев назад

      Great question! I'll be going more into this in my next video but they can be shared with students... either with "view access", "edit access", or as a "template" so each student can customize their own (similar to how you can share a Google Slides file with students).

    By now you know how much I love your hack and tutorial videos. I haven’t jumped on the canva train just yet, but this video certainly makes me want to buy a ticket! How do you figure out all of these little hacks that most people don’t know? Do you research? Poke around and figure things out? I’m just in awe of your knowledge of all things. Thanks again for yet another inspiring video! Have a great week!

    • @PocketfulofPrimary
      @PocketfulofPrimary  9 месяцев назад +1

      HAHAHA you cracked me up with the "buy a ticket" line 😂 Thank you for all your kind words! Honestly, some hacks I discover on my own (like I accidentally clicked "d" on my keyboard one time when presenting and the drumroll appeared... I was so confused at first but then discovered all the magic shortcuts). Sometimes I go searching through all the toolbars and option menus to look for new things and then play around with them to figure out how they work. Other times, I will do some research for features and also try to stay up to date with new releases through the tech tool's website, blog, or email list. Thank you as always for taking the time to watch and comment just as you do every week! 🥰 I always look forward to it!

    I use Canva create my slide backgrounds and any “anchor charts” I want to add to my PPT. But then I usually download them and present them through PPT when teaching. I keep going back and forth with if I should present through Canva.

      Are you saying you make slides in Canva, but present through PPT?? I didn't even know you could do that!

    • @PocketfulofPrimary
      @PocketfulofPrimary  9 месяцев назад

      I totally understand what you mean, Angela. I think it can be hard to shift fully to a new platform when it's still new. I was doing the same thing... using Canva to create the graphics/backgrounds and then I was inserting them into Google Slides as images and using Google Slides to present. But, I realized I was making my life WAY harder than it needed to be and switching to using Canva to both create and present made my life so much easier and saved so much time!

    • @PocketfulofPrimary
      @PocketfulofPrimary  9 месяцев назад
