Hey @income school, would it be possible to get with Jim about an update on this site? I know he's stepped away from Income School, but it would be neat to see how Backfire is doing for him now that he's working it exclusively now. I understand there's things behind the scenes that may conflict with such things. It just would be cool to see from a viewer perspective.
So far, 1 year is in, I can see that the backfire blog only has 166 posts. There's 1 more year left in the plan. Must be hard to reach the goal of 850 posts in the second year... Any update on this project please?

"Starting from the trenches". With a RUclips channel with almost 100K subscribers? That typically takes years to build. This is a HUGE head start and it may give newcomers a false sense of hope. :/ We would love to see you really start a blog again from scratch and get it to 1M page views, especially in this highly competitive time!
We started that channel from the trenches too only about a year and a half ago and it’s received our attention for less than half of the last year and a half.
The issue is less that we’re giving bloggers false hope. The issue is that too many people don’t think they can do it so they look for reasons why successful people have it easier.

I also discovered that to "just do it" is the biggest part of the puzzle to success.
It can be hard to get all the info you need, all the articles (if a blog), or artwork and supporting sales text, or whatever it is you need to create to reach your goals need just to launch a proper blog, or shopping site or crowdfunding (aka Kickkstarter), etc.
But that's what seperates the sheep from the goats, so to speak.
IT IS HARD.
But its' doable.
It's spending the TIME and EFFORT to do the research, to make a QUALITY product (be it blog or physical item, video, etc), and get all your ducks lined-up in a row.
I think people think it's "easy" so they go blindly in and get burned or just waste their time.
I use certain websites to launch sales campaigns, etc, and there is a lot to it.
Even small companies, that have been in business for years, then launch campaigns on crowdfunding sites (for example), have lost money because they did not fully do their homework before diving in and committing to a campaign.
Nothing is easy, and I think that people "know" they need to watch all of Income School's videos to learn what they need, but they don't, and they try to launch a blog because it sounds "easy", and they find out the hard way that there is a LOT more to it.
Then they become disenchanted because they are not earning money after a few months, and that is their own fault because the guys specifically say that it could take up to at least a year or more to get there, allowing that you researched the niche and keywords, and made high-quality articles that people WANT to read because they are looking for answers to questions.
NOT because you may know about a subject and are writing about what YOU may want to write about.
This applies to anything that you are trying to create and sell. No, not easy, but doable.

1 Million here we come 💕 24 Months isn't too far away!
These videos are always super motivating, but I'm beginning to get some serious SEO imposter syndrome. I've been working in SEO for a decade now, my personal site used to get around 7,000 visits/mo but I let it go stagnant for a few years as life caught up to me and all traffic was lost. Since early December I completely refreshed all website content and have almost tripled the total amount of content on-site over the last 6 months, writing about 24 posts and 40K words in that time. The site is a decade old, so it certainly isn't new to Google. Nothing I post ranks. It gets indexed, but never ranks. I know my content isn't bad either. Even Chinese scraper sites are beating me in SERPs which makes no sense to me. These videos always give me a little bit more motivation to keep pushing. Hopefully my luck will turn again soon..
Consistency is key. Luck has nothing to do with it.
@@passiveincomepathways Thanks! Averaging 1-2 posts per week over 6 months, so I'm doing my best to be as consistent as possible with both quantity and quality. Not working yet but holding on to hope.

Got a question for Income School and the community:
I wanted to pick back up where I left before I got lazy last year. I've been publishing blog posts and videos about the same topics, so I can lead from RUclips to the blog and vice versa. I am curious what you think about the approach to put the video at the start of the blog post. Does it make people not read the post? Or is it nice to have, in case people prefer videos? Am I hurting my blog with that, in case they instantly leave for a video?
What do you guys think?
I like including them in the post. I’m not sure I’d put them right at the top. That space at the very top is really valuable and I think I’d want to reserve it for whatever it is that’s of most value in the blog post.

question to anyone. If I take a long time to reach a large number of posts does that matter? Because travel Is my niche and I know it is huge but I don't want to outsource because I want to write every word so I know it is accurate quality info. Please any guidance or feedback from anyone would be appreciated. I have written 98 blog posts but i think its going to take hundreds more. I love writing so it is not painful. Just worried about my time.

Good luck on your ventures. I am still just trying to get my first blog site off the ground. I'm a little concerned as I've hit six months, and none of my content has ranked or even come close. I've got over 60 posts now, most over 1.5k words, and I feel like the quality is pretty good (though I will eventually go back and revamp my old posts). The keywords I've been shooting for are consistently low-hanging fruit as well, but most of my posts aren't even in the top 100 pages. Any advice?

I still watching all Income School videos and also Channel Makers, since RUclips was never my focus but I trusted what Income School said and started the videos also...I am so glad I listen to them! I myself hasn't yet started blogging, i have some complicated kinda personal things to solve first, and then I'll start, hopefully I could in January, i really can't wait!
Seo and everything seems to be things I'll be good at, i just have some doubts about writing itself. If i feel good about it in the first week I'll probably shoot for the 30k in 2 years. What do you think about using page generators to produce the FIRST DRAFT of pages? This would let you create a template of the page for each type of cartridge in your database ... and pull the data to build each page from your database to insert into text blocks in your template.
This way you could quickly generate hundreds of test pages and start working on finished pages while watching to see what is starting to generate traffic.

I tried making a massive database myself. My website broke after it hit 600K words. Lol (Big big database.) So, I had to parse it out into several dozen posts.
But word of the wise: don't go overboard, your site might not manage it.

If a second grader wanted to publish a blog to earn money and if no one in her family knew enough about computers and the Internet to help her create a website and publish on it, how much money would typically be needed to a) pay one or more geeks to handle the technical aspects of creating her website and b) pay a website platform provider, including additional fees for a monetized site?
If you use Wordpress and a managed hosting platform, you can start at $10-15 per year for a domain and about $5 per month for hosting. That’s all you’d have to spend.
If you want a logo, you could use vector stock and find something off the shelf that you can tweak with Canva for about $25.
Photos for the blog can get pricey if you’re buying stock photos. I’d probably pass on that for now if you want to keep cost down.
A Wordpress theme can range from free to around $100 per year or more.
As for hiring someone to build and run the site, it depends who you find. Get a high school student who knows Wordpress and you can probably get it done for a few hundred dollars. Pay someone who professionally build and manage sites, you can pay thousands.
I think I’d get the second grader watching RUclips videos about how to build a site using Wordpress and they can do it for free. It’s actually pretty easy if you just want a blog site. Wordpress has tons of plug and play options.
We set up our blogs in about 10-15 minutes.

My computer/Internet lexicon is so limited I fear I wouldn't be able to set it up myself based on personalized instruction because I almost certainly would not understand the language people use to talk about such things.

When you hire a freelancer do you provide them with a WordPress guest login where they can publish an article, or do they provide you with a word document where you format it on your blog(s)?

The database approach is interesting for getting links to the blog. Do you put the database as a table on a blog post or do you upload it to site files and link to it from your own website?
spreadsheets, free courses, tools are all great link bait
ideally a database should be interactive and with sort and filter options
you can outsource to a database developer if your not completely familiar

One of the things that discouraged me from writing more on my blog is the fact that Im distracted.
Living at home with relatives, not married, or not having control of my living surroundings makes this difficult.
With kids and a wife, Jim I don't know how you stayed focus and gained support from your wife and kids while sacrificing your time and energy to building a new niche site.
Also, when you tell others what you are doing and they don't get it nor care to support you, it makes you want to leave to some distant island and get the work done in solitude.
But I know this is not realistic.
get a part time job maybe related to your niche in some way and write on your off days.
Go to a co-working space, works every time.

My math for calculating how many views you need didn't seem to workout like yours.
30000/29.08 = 1031.64 not a Million+

I think you were trying to say $29.08 per 1000 page views per month but you really didn't say that.
1031636/1000 = 1031.64 * $29.08 = $30000.09 / month.

On almost all of our sites we use Acabado. On Income School we use a customized version of Divi.

Well this is a little disheartening for me for sure. I was hoping that backfire was just going to be a small test for you guys, but now I see that you're full blown competition and our industry is already stuffed with way more competition than we'd ever need. I guess this will be my last video from you guys because I don't want to be accused of taking your ideas even though I already have those databases on my website for multiple different calibers. My website is more than 20 years old, and a lot of the information is in the process of being updated. I just went full time on my website, after being managing editor for one of the biggest gun sites on the internet for the past several years (that I helped to build). I don't plan to lose any ground on my website. I'm a one man show though, so that is against me for sure. It's been a good couple of years, guys. Good luck.

However, as someone who has dedicated his life to the preservation of the Second Amendment, who has built massive organic traffic for gun sites for people who didn't care for the 2A (Belcher, Fraiser, Deiss), I also take an issue when people get into my industry just to make money. I'm not saying that's what they're doing here, but that's the way he makes it seem in the first few minutes of this video. Again, I wish everyone, including you Carl, the best.
Jim, By profession I am a Software engineer. I would love to start a blog. Your google suggestion method and google trends are good methods. But Is there any way to identify what part of the software industry is more trending than other? eg: Hosting is famous than cloud computing. If we take hosting wordpress hosting famous than dedicated hosting. like wise is there any way to see these queries related to a specific industry?
