VizionWorksEditing 4K wouldn’t be much use on a 13” screen. The pixel density would be too high and the power would be wasted. 1440p would be more realistic but I feel 1080p would be good enough.

Yeah! That would be awesome! Or at least some kind of really good alternative for the Macbooks but in the Windows world. I have lots of friends who got tired of the Macbooks and iPhones, and they want something as slim, light and good in the Windows domain. So some slim Windows laptop reviews would be great! :D
Vincent De La Rosée Surface is actually head to head competing with iPad Pro and new Google Pixel Slate. From my perspective, it all depends from what are your needs. Apple is really well made, great screen, speakers and bunch of apps, but it’s missing really important features for a main device. That’s where Surface smashes it. And Pixel Slate seems as a failure pretty much for now...

I actually just bought a new MacBook Air yesterday and ended up taking it back for a MacBook Pro 13”. There just isn’t enough of a difference anymore between the air and pro to justify the dip in perf.

A nice well balanced review if your interested in this machine. Unfortunately Apple are entering a rinse your existing customers for money phase as they are reaching saturation point for their products. That's why nearly all of their products are simply $200 overpriced. As a long time Apple customer, it's now just a matter of will you continue to pay? The answer for me would probably be yes, but I really resent being sold dongle's to solve the removal of ports that should not have been removed, especially on 'PRO' products
Apple has been "removing ports" (and drives, and yada yada) since the return of Jobs and original Blueberry iMac (for which everyone bought the same 3rd party docking station right out the gate). It's not new. It's what they have always done. I'm not sure why you expect them to act differently now.
it's more then 200 dollars overpriced.. I have a 300 dollars laptop that is a quad core i5 that beats this poor dual core macbook any day. This laptop has a low amount of storage, no GPU, a pathetic CPU and one of the worse keyboards I've ever tried. Very mushy, no travel and has a membrane plastic under it. It's just a joke in my opinion. The only thing I give them credit for is their form factor. Making a thin and light laptop is quite expensive therefore I would say this laptop is worth 600-800 USD. 1200 USD for this is just people not caring about anything and buying it for macOS. They could make a 10 000 USD as cheapest laptop with the same specs and the same argument would hold true, it has Mac OS.
@@alliejr I think it's more about how drastically they've been removing them. It started out with the audio jack, which in my opinion was fine because Bluetooth headphones were already available and somewhat common. However, with the laptops, they went all out and removed every single port, apart from the audio jack, and replaced it with USB-C, which wasn't that common at that time. Compared to the times of Jobs and iMac etc. they would remove one or two ports that weren't that necessary anymore. In other words, it would have been nice to keep the SD card slot, and maybe the HDMI slot as well.
If your answer would probably be YES, it doesn't really matter what YOU want.
You will overpay for them cause you like them, and Apple will continue to use that against you and continue to bump the prices.

If he had filmed with 4k and zoomed in the resulution would have gotten worse while with 8k you couldn't see the true resolution anyway so there is no loss in pixels.

Bought it today. Upgraded from the 2014 model and find it a solid upgrade. The keys are way faster and just hoping they stay solid for a long time to come. It can run Premiere decent (haven't tried exporting yet). And the Retina screen truly is great. In fact, happy all around as long as these keys hold up!

I got this laptop cause im going to highschool and its pretty light and good.
I Think the reason Apple haven’t put FaceID into a MacBook yet, is the sensors that works for the FaceID can’t reach as long from the screen to your face. You will have to sit closer to the screen than normally for FaceID to work.
So if they should put FaceID into a MacBook, they should make it so it would work in longer distances.
Almost every premium Windows laptop has 3D facial recognition (Face ID).

Price tag is absurd for the Air. It’s ridiculous how I bought a 2017 13 inch Macbook Pro at $1,100 at Best Buy and the current Air is $100 more than that.
All Apple products are not as expensive if you know how to shop. I bought the X in 2017 for $600 and the Xs Max this year for one of my family members for $900 (this is before taxes and gift cards)

I think, though these laptops are not powerful for gaming and creating, but the fanless Macs from apple are the best. I never have to worry about over-heating, or fan noise.

all those things that are missing from the ipad are missing for the exact reasons you want them. Apple wants you to be missing out on just enough so that you can't justify missing one product without the need to buy the other. As much as I hate Apple their marketing and business tactics are top notch disgusting, and it works.

I am using the 2018 MacBook Air in 2023. it is beginning to show its age but it still does fine with basic web browsing,. recently upgraded it to macOS Sonoma. battery life is still far better than my 2021 dell Inspiron
How is the keyboard? I am afraid of that...
I had an MacBook Pro mid 2010 for audio production/mixing, photoshop, graphic design whatever, and also Final Cut Pro. It was pretty fine except Final Cut that I had to go to 720p or less and do a lot of rendering in the timeline. Then I was at a friends house that had a MacBook Air 2015 and I perfectly did a 720p video on his Mac without almost not even rendering the timeline and it was pretty smooth. So i thought the new MacBook Air would be perfect for 1080p, and I could say for 4K too, as I seen. Even with lots of plug-ins and stuff. I still didn’t made any project on it yet, but I am sure it will be fine. I was about to get the 2017 MacBook Pro or 2018 Air but I decided to get the Air because I heard a lot of guys complaining about problems with the butterfly 2nd keyboard, but even if I was getting the pro, I am almost sure I would had similar experience with the Air. I never had the “best” computer in the industry, but I always made successfully projects and stuff. I can even still mix audio in my 2006 MacBook White at ProTools 8 with bunch of plug-ins. I still can’t understand why people need the “best” Mac to do things if you are a home user and nobody is rushing you. If you are creative you can do shit anywhere. I am sure a lot of people that are buying the “best” MacBook Pro use it for safari, viber, word and simple stuff that could done perfectly with an MacBook Air or very older Macs. My first Computer was an Amstrad 6128, all these years since now I seen people buying the best Computers just to brag about and not using them for their power. That’s just some of my thoughts. Besides that, my new Air 2018 goes pretty smooth so far, the brightness could be a be higher. I use it at about 80% 90% or even 100%, at 100% it’s pretty good but I noticed my self so far go from 70% to 100%. If it would go 2 ticks more (120%) it would be perfect, but I would still used it at 80%. I am sure that I will accomplish all my audio/mixing/composing/video/image editing perfectly on this machine. And also, it didn’t felt psychologically so good to get the 2017 MacBook Pro without Touch Bar, well it’s 7nd get CPU. The air has 8gen and it just came out now. Even tho the MacBook Pro 2017 is faster, better screen, I heard a lot of people replacing the whole keyboard a lot of times, so didn’t wanted to mess with that. I really like the butterfly 3gen keyboard. Well, anyway! Peace!

But it seems a laptop so good was never intended for upgrade as you see from apples perspective, if at all they had upgraded the Air any time during the last 7/8 years, no one would have bought the MBPro (except professionals). I know right, the thing is the words he uses to describe apple products tend to make them feel not worth, 2 and a half years have passed, my iPhone 7 is rocking like a champ, my macbook is still fresh and working, and my iPad is as useful as ever, can't dream to get the same functionality and life out of any android nor windows product, apple should get more credit where it deserves it

This product is more than 'no risks', it is just dumb. It is no longer thinner than the pro, as it should be according to its name. Its performance didn't improve even after so many years and is not comparable to some chromebooks at this point. This model is just a rip off.
I rather buy the 2017 one. Why? Glowing apple logo,glowing keyboard in the dark,the old keyboard (that doesnt get sticky) and more ports! So im going for a 2017 MBA

What are you talking about? In America, the 2018 Air and Pro are at least $400 apart. The 2017 Pro and 2018 Air are closer in price and that's actually a debate. However, they are very similar in almost every aspect which sort of justifies the small gap in their prices.
Personally, I went the new Air. It look great, has a good display now, and would probably last longer than the 2017 Pro assuming you take good care of it. As for performance, both are actually closer than people realize. Even so, I don't really need a high performing device, all I need is a device that can run MacOS as efficiently as possible for as long as possible.

What the MacBook Air lost in 2018 model: (1: superior keyboard, (2: USB-A ports, still useful in 2018, (3: MagSafe (remember how Apple touted MagSafe to protect your investment?) (4: SD card slot (yeah, folks still use those!) and (5: base price of $999. Cannot understand why Apple couldn't have included one USB-A port and an SD slot in addition to Thunderbolt 3, and a better keyboard for that price. Other ultrabook makers don't force so many compromises for that kind of $$$.
Yeah, it isn't "budget" anymore. Any MacBook is overpriced, but I guess Apple's consumers will never realize that.

While I had to pay more for it than I would have liked, I've had the new MacBook Air for a month now and am absolutely loving it. I love the Retina display, surprisingly great speakers, force touch trackpad functionality, Touch ID and I even really like the keyboard after getting used to it, the keys feel more stable and clicky than traditional laptop keys and I've found I can type much faster on it. My only real criticism of it is the fact that it only has 2 USB ports (or basically only one if you are charging at the same time) and the lack of an SD card reader, I feel such a pricey laptop could easily have included 4 USB ports and an SD card reader. Still, you can buy 3rd party hubs and adapters pretty cheap so it's not a huge deal...

Premier is for you if you want to have something more hardcore and professional editing.
Sony Vegas..I don't know, not a fan, I'm using Final Cut Pro and I'm happy with it.
Final cut for flat (one to like 3 layers of video) and Premiere for anything with visual effects. I usually do my effects shots with premiere then bake me out and edit that for color and such in Final Cut
Why not try out the surface pro 6 and let us know what u think? Best two in one can replace MacBook and iPad with one device
