PMA!!!! Positive Mental Attitude. The first time I heard that term was at the Marine Corp's cold weather training package in 1999 in Bridgeport, CA. You know the place. It helped me through my very soggy Stagecoach 400 finish this year. I wish I would have listened to it more when I dropped from the Caldera 150 last year. Coming out to do the Caldera 150 again this year. Getting to the starting line is the hardest part. If life and schedule permits, I will start it and I will finish it.

I believe the Sunshine Coast Trail in BC gets you an everest in only 180 km. Mostly in the the south 90 km. Not fully rideable but you could theoretically run it in one day.
Even more intrigued now :)
Time for compulsory stops on all distance bike races. It’s all very funny till someone dies or gets injured by falling asleep. The usual excuse is “ I had no idea what happened all of a sudden I was in ICU “.
The riders who do 24 hours and 48 and more without sleep have issues off the bike never mind on.
In USA you could maybe get away with it as there is more open space but in Europe it’s road orientated for lots of time on public roads.

Your dad the Veteran you had the picture of on the truck ? Where did he serve ? What unit ? Ardennes is a great place to visit in winter to experience the weather of what they did back then.
That was my grandfather. I don’t know all the details of his service- I do know he made it through D-Day and Battle of the Bulge
Before OR after he died? I can't fathom that kind of motivation
