23k on a fiat stilo then wonder’s why he’s depressed
He should have been putting that money into the MR2
@@TheNinjaMonkey43 honestly
It doesnt matter what car it is, to a car guy every car is special and worthy of customizing. I spent thousands and thousands on Fiat Punto. But I dont regret it and never will. It was my first car. To me it was worth it. It was mine it was unique and special to me. The only people who can understand this are car people. We will never change, thats the way it is. 🤷🏼♂️ you all can make jokes and call us pathetic but we dont care. 🙂
Leon S as some point you have to think is it worth it to spend this kind of money on this pos daily driver
😂😂😂
Shows the impact bullying can have. Some ridiculous comments about his teeth (which look fine) have led to him living a life trying to over compensate which has landed him in all sort of problems. What a nice lad.
Well said!
These programs show how much good therapists are so needed for people struggeling mentally through life. Benjamin is the exception of a great! Therapist! We need more educational therapists and psychiatrists in the field. Especially after the pandemic where so many people need it.
funny thing is, that fiat stilo even finished with all that junk, would not be worth 50£today. the MR2 is a keeper though.
55k over 3 years, he really could have bought a nice porsche for that money jesus.
of wich 15k aren't him anyways, if I am not mistaking. Plus he does not seem like a saving up kinda person..😂
Jonathan M why a porsche though, they depreciate like bread going moldy
@@dghddvsfbdch6183 i think he means a already depreciated porsche thats why he said "really nice". thats what i would do
@@dghddvsfbdch6183 they do depricate, but their style is classic, it'll always look beautiful, that or a really old boxy style ferrari
@@dghddvsfbdch6183 911s don't depreciate much.
Im all for people loving cars and loving their passions. I personally love cars, and ive spent quite a bit on my car, but the key is to stay within your budget, put things together slowly and save up for the things you want before you go into debt for them.
I found this programme relatable in ways but at the same I 100% agree with your statement! Sometimes I wonder why I haven't gotten as far I've liked to with my car in terms of mods but then I realise that's the price of doing things within your means. I suppose when it comes together I'll feel better about not going into a shit tonne of debt over it and I can enjoy other things in life at the same time.
Exactly. I been building my del sol for 7 years. Slowly. Stopped 2 years ago due to saving and getting a house. Sucks to see her sitting, but she will be back.
he was a sweet guy and did really well
British TV always seems to be better than most American TV.
Great progress for this young man. Hopefully, others can learn from this craziness spending. I’m going to suggest to my co-worker to watch this video. He’s experiencing the same with fast cars
He spent 20k on a fiat ...no real car guy would do that only a child would pick that car hahahaha
I don't think even a child would have bought the fiat lol the stilo is a piece of crap
well at least its not a multipla
Fiat is not bad really u never drive a fiat so u dont know
@@bichplz4375 your telling someone you have never met they have not drove a fiat ....that's like me telling you, you dont like chocolate or fruit
@Chris what about 500 abarth?
Ahhh £5.50 for 20 cigarettes them were the days
Smoking killed an uncle at 59.
thank you so much for all the uploads! I love this show and it is both entertaining and very educational.
What a pity, Spendaholidcs first aired in 2005, this chap spent £56k over the previous 3 years so since around 2002. A 1 bedroom Flats in Wallington would have been around £90k and most likely less at the time, he could have bought himself a flat and would have been well on his way to paying of it off. Live and learn .
JP Paul delighted to hear that !
What a true amazing therapist Benjamin is !! So kind, soft spoken, humble and knowledgeable. The lady is amazing too.
Knowing Jon was bullied at school and how that shaped his future addiction, I angry at the kids who bully others. It really affects people even decades later. Then hearing about his pain at Christmas and how he pushes his loved ones away, urgggh Poor guy, I hope he overcomes his addiction, stops smoking & settles his debts.
These bullies are the type who needs to overcompensate by showing the school how hard they are
Here’s the thing I’ve just start documenting modifying my own car, you just do everything within reason and only work within your means, you can do the majority of work yourself with a bit of research and some time invested, it’s a great hobby and passion but work with the money you have!
He bought that MR2 turbo off my brother. Was a great car. Little did we know it was going to be on telly
Yeah right and I prototyped the aeroplane
This was exactly what people need to heal from addiction. This was an all around metamorphosis. No more identifying as the car, no more smoking (so many of the people on this show smoke. See here how much it costs your money and your health) bring in the spirit of acceptance and openness to people. Let's make it okay for everyone to say how they feel and what they need emotionally. Here's to mental health.🎉
Very nice episode. Late into this series but enjoying it very much. Hope Jon is doing well since.
I'd like to know what type of house he would've bought with his 17K.
Mr 5 He probably meant a down payment.
Down payment makes sense to bad he can't but maybe one day
@@sugalips428 OK, I'd like to know what type of house you can buy (especially in London) with a £17K down payment. Maybe a garden shed? I dunno.
Mr 5 • bear in mind that these were filmed 15-20 years ago
You could get a cozy sea front cabin in Somalia or a suburban duplex in Haïti for that.
Why can't Emma pay for the, "Emma, treat day?"
Yes, It was crazy that his advisors where telling him to give up everything he wants but continue spending his money on her.
Female privilege
Emma would be paying for herself - the experts just made an assumption that he would like to spend time with his girlfriend at least once a month 😂
I would keep the MR2 if it's a turbo and scrap the rest 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@Honda 250 Definitely better than I Honda I guess ;)

I like this guy! Best episode so far!
I like him too
I do too.
Me too
I agree lovely chap
“Stilo John”😂
I liked the classic car dashboard on top of his TV.
I thought they were silly to be banging on about his small bed and pink sheets. Who cares?
Tina yeah I agree, I thought it was irrelevant them focussing about what colour his sheets are and how big is bed is.
@@greenkitty82 Unless you consider he was using cars to get women (possibly) and what woman would want to stay in THAT bed? Or even THAT room/apt? Not exactly as flashy as his cars.
This is clearly from the early 2000’s. Now known as ricers, who tf modifies a fiat lmao
Senior account executive at 22? Shit, they're starting younger.
he looks 30 tho
The ultimate rice machine
early 2000s car culture, it wasn't considered rice back then
I know this show is ancient but I don't get the title. Pretty much everyone who buys a new car in finance is £15k+ on debt?
Well, with him it´s a bit different. The cars are only a part of his debt. A big portion of that debt is just living over your budget. All the trips and stays at those meetings and the countless magazines....
The bouncing when he was lowering the bags 😂😂😂
This soundtrack rules.
I always wonder how the people in this show can feel good with their overspending.... I feel really bad if I have a few Euro debt on my bank account.... 😬
That mr2 is clean af
The psychologist is such a drone and in this case trying to find underlying causes where there really isn't one. The kid has an expensive hobby and needs to grow up a bit.
lafillenoir He likes his gimmicks, doesn’t he? I think he isn’t an actual psychologist.
But everything you do has an underlying reason. The fact that he does not want to grow up is reason enough. I think the psychologist gets it wrong by thinking everything people do is 'trauma-based'.
All he saw was "ladies". Do you think he'll land one of these ladies with his car? It's more than just cars. No, dipshit, you can't get a car magazine without "ladies"
Expensive hobby needs to grow up? That's rich wonder how much you buy in make up that you don't need???.. You are just a sheep following the media of which tells you that women need to wear make up... So shut the fuck up
So the question shifts to 'Why doesn't he want to grow up?'. Still a problem, still a mental block.
The MR2 turbo prices will one day surpass the Maserati 3200GT, IMO.
Been there done that. 15yrs ago I splurged £16-17k buying and tuning a Mazda RX7 over a 6yr period. 2 engine failures later I sold the parts and car for less than £4k. I lost thousands. Now I ride really fast bikes for a fraction of the price
Now rx7s are making huge money and aleast thats a jdm legend
@@tommyriordan870 definitely a JDM legend. If I were rich I'd buy another but my head says stay away.
Keep bikes m8 the way to go
@@theprinceofbabylonia probably better for your pocket😂
Yeah you need some seriously deep pockets for a rotary engine... as awesome as they are, don't think I could ever afford or deal with the tlc needed to run them. but whatever the case you pretty much always lose money on a car (unless it's an absolute classic) why as I've got older have lost a lot of interest in motors and just see them as something to get from A to B now... lol
I've done the maths if he didn't spend his non essential money which is pretty much how I live he would have paid his debts in a little over a year
He has to dump that club. They’ll drag him back down into debt.
Name a club that doesn’t do that?
Did he just put an egg on a pizza? And people complain about pineapple.
The narrator is so sassy love it! 😋
Love how they said 20k is a decent income
LSX FTW Back then, yeah..
Wonder where he is these days ? used to love this show back in the day.
When he talked about his teeth I never noticed he's such a bubbly guy the teeth are nothing
Jenny GREBER his teeth don’t look bad to me either.
True. I didn't see his teeth until later in the show. He clearly doesn't smile much. And if it really bothers him, what about getting it looked at?
It looks like the effects of cigarettes
All this work and it still looks ____. But as a car enthusiast myself, I can respect the work he put in. Just not my taste at all.
that's just the way of the early 2000s
He's a handsome man. And if he feel insecure about his teeth he could use brace

Should have sold everything except the MR2, taken a course on vehicle maintenance and kept to a budget on service and upgrades for it. MR2 would have retained value and he could still be a car guy.
@@scod3908not when all that mileage has built up. Should’ve put his Stilo back in stock and sold off the parts and keep the MR2 as a weekender
Could u imagine going in debt on a ricer
that's just the early 2000s, everyone was doing the same thing. funny to look back on now but that was just the way it was

Hhhhh when your so unclutured you think every early 2000's car is riced....
Nah he's talking about how shit the body kits and how they have no engine mods like the r34 were and still are amazing and supra most jdm cars and great cars a from 1990 and 2000

I know this is an old show but the salaries of these people seem so low. I make $95k CAD and in British pounds that is about 55k and even that seems hard to live on in England
chevyjazz Salaries are extremely low over here, yes. It’s an absolute joke
Very true, but some living costs are dramatically lower (like food unbelievably). Toronto is more on par with London but ifyou talk about Warrington, its really considered quite rural if looking at an equivalent in Ontario
Depends where you live in the UK. It’s definitely not hard to live on £55k in the uk (£3370 pm after tax)
I’m a Brit living in BC and the prices of shit here is ridiculous, 15 bucks for a block of cheese... you guys need to earn more just buy shopping

This guy clearly likes his car, the speedometer that the lady was complaining about was from a mr2, he owns a mr2, why would that be a question to why he likes it there, also the magazine she said was cause of the girls too had a mr2 on the cover as if he wanted to see someone elses mr2, cause he also has a MR2! These people are probably thinking he is "weird" to have all this stuff but its no different from having a star wars poster cause you love star wars, thoes 2 older people are judgemental.
Huh, senior account executive...and he makes £20,000 a month or a year??!
A week
I honestly can't comprehend the hobby of cars to be honest. To spend thousands of dollars and put in countless hours of effort into something that will probably last for 5-10 years just seems absurd to me. Cars should be seen as a utility, to get you from point a to point b. Having a cool car is nice and all and as a guy, I can respect it, but only if you can feasibly afford the repairs, taxes, insurances, fuel, etc.
Majority of extroverts are like that. They need attention!
Some people don't plan on playing the long game and have dreams to fulfil, a big fear of mine is to spend all my life working and dying miserable cause i didn't use my time on me instead of worrying about the future and stability.
lol, i have spent £8,000 on my e36 so far and its taken 4 years, still not finished yet.
depressed yea, because its taking forever, regrets no... when its done it will be epic and i have something to show for my money and its my passion
Except when you sell it and be lucky to get a grand for it... unless its an m3 maybe...lol. I have an e46 m sport 320 diesel coupe ... had it 5 years and hardly spent anything on it, except lowering springs, and few minor mods. Bought it for 5 grand be lucky to get 2 for it now and only has 121k on it. The 2 litre diesels out perform the 2 litre petrols too... though not the case with the 330's lol
@@AuralAttack it's not your everyday e36. M50b30 turbo with 650whp. A bit more than a grand. Are you in uk. M3 e36's get serious money

Because Italian, because badge pedigree, because design flair; there are people who still believe European brands are superior to Japanese brands
