@Dame Lia Sorelle I see you've never watched the Dave Ramsey show. There absolutely are people with a load of debt today. Maybe not as bad as some of the participants in this show (there was a woman with 50k debt and 10k salary in one of the episodes) but someone like this guy could absolutely exist today, he only has 13k£ (maybe $20k today) of non-student debt. You don't get your stuff confiscated just for having a lot of debt, only if you repeatedly fail to pay the monthly payments

My ex husband's family moved to the uk in 1969 (Indian but emigrated from Uganda). The older boys did incredibly well. My ex is in risk management and his younger brother is a former investment banker who is now teaching yoga full time.
The youngest brother? He was born in Britain and has never accomplished a thing. He qualified as a paramedic but found the job too stressful. He could have transferred those skills into another job but chose not to. His mother gave him her flat in London. Three months later, he sold it and partied the money away. Same with the £40,000 pounds he got when their father died. The older two cut ties with him after that.

Actually, as an MBA myself, I can say that it doesn't mean you didn't learn how to manage money. You can know it without applying it. If you do not find the root of your issues and deal with them, you will still have problems. It is kind of like driving a car. You know how to drive correctly, but whether you choose to obey the laws is up to you. If you have anger issues, you may drive fast and cut people off. You have to deal with your anger.

    • @carriedudley8593

@@angelaw886so basically people spending money on everything they want is because of anger issues? Rubbish, it's about having the sense to manage your money and only buy what you can afford to buy. At some point you have to grow up and take responsibility for yourself. So mummy or daddy once said something to upset you, get a grip. It's not like the people on these shows were seriously abused.
He was given the best start in life with his education but has chosen to waste it.
So after the divorce of his parents he was slightly poorer? Grow up, material things don't mean anything.

The problem with debt like this is that unlike other bad decisions that you can recover from relatively quickly, it can haunt you for many years until it's paid off, punishing and limiting you every day. If you are young and earn good money, invest it early on and it will have more time to grow. It's okay to reward yourself now and then but for me at least the money you don't spend buys something too - a peace of mind and security. And a gadget can't replace that.

Personally I think the obsession of fashion is one of the biggest problems with society as well as the need to impress or fit in with everyone else and women wearing so much paint on their faces it's just crazy and it's that mentality I guess is what can cause so many problems in life such as debit
Back in the days when I used to go out on a Friday night on the pull I never dressed to impress I never paid huge sums of money on clothes just to get laid if I couldn't pull just because my choice of clothes didn't fit their obsession over fashion in my eyes they aren't worth my time
Thankfully I did reasonably well in life I guess because I used my brains and self respect and choose to use my money wisely and saved well by not wasting life impressing others and now living in another country and it feels good to be around people who actually appreciate being around others without judging them based on the label on their jeans but rather accept for who I am and have a really nice woman with self respect she doesn't even use makeup and looks a million times better without that face paint a real woman
