- 9 tips you need to know before renting an apartment in Los Angeles, California. Apartment hunting can be hard, and apartment shopping in LA can be even harder! There are a ton of things I wish I knew before renting my first apartment in los Angeles, and today, I am here to give you some apartment renting tips!
Tons of people want to move to LA and I wish I was equipped with this knowledge earlier! There are so many things you should know so you can really understand what its really like living in Los Angeles, and renting your first apartment here.
Now, I've been out in Los Angeles for 3.5 years and I have learned a few apartment renting tips and tricks during that time. If you plan on moving to LA soon, I really suggest you do some research and watch this video of course! lol

Love your recommendations! As for the emotional support animals, there are responsible renters and those who manipulate the system. It seems like it is an unnecessary added expense, but when you constantly have to replace flooring and make repairs, owners end up passing the cost to other renters. One dog can easily cause $5k+ in expenses. As a landlord, this forces me to raise rent. Unfortunately, many people call their pet an emotional support animal and in the long run, it hurts future renters.
Moved to LA ten years ago when I was 20 and there was too much traffic and too expensive. Moved into a van and figured out it was still too much traffic. Left California and now I’m much happier.
I left in 2016 after 9 months and went to Texas.

I moved to Texas… you get way more for your money, and space and no state taxes… I’m from New Jersey and that was getting expensive. I lived in California for 9 months. But it wasn’t for me. I didn’t have a problem living in Long Beach, Fontana or Yucaipa. In Texas… everything is huge out here and for the price it’s worth it. I live in Frisco in a luxury high rise.

lolll well it definitely depends on what your vibe is. If you like the beach - Santa Monica, if you prefer a quieter scene - Pasadena/the valley/highland park
But, honestly, most places are relatively "safe", I'd just stay away from south central LA since you're not from the area.
