    Unpopular opinion I guess, but we purchased into the atlas line and are loving it. I work on pipelines and so I’m not home much, my girlfriend wanted things she can use easier than gas and so we started looking. We were going to originally go with the Lowe’s versions of these tools and on arrival Lowe’s was out of stock. So we decided to run down to harbor freight to just browse the atlas. We ended up buying the 40v trimmer and 80v non self-p mower. The rapid charger and the battery. The manager was cool and let us use the 20dollar off coupon twice and the modified another 10 dollar off coupon twice to work for the battery and charger. So all together we got 60 dollars off.
    I’m not saying there isn’t better out there as for the ego. But for our needs this did hit the spot, and they do get the job done just fine.

    For the last 18 months I've not let the lawn crew edge or use a weed eater in my back yard. ruclips.net/user/postUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG I didn't like the fact that they just kept cutting the edge of the lawn further and further from the rock lining the flower beds and leaving bare ground. And the grass was trimmed or scalped several feet around trees, etc. It was a constant battle with them so I told them to just mow and no trimming. I have Zoysia grass so it grows pretty slow. Obviously after a while it could use some trimming. I'm in my 80's so I can't do much of it myself.Finally I decided that if I could find a lightweight battery powered trimmer I might be able to do some light trimming. I decided to buy the LST201 20V trimmer. And it works great for my needs. I have back yard with about 150' of flower beds and several trees to be trimmed. I can lightly trim the whole yard with a single charge! The grass I trimmed was only a few inches high but the trimmer was more powerful than I expected.

    I love this trimmer. Bought the mower too. Volume and decibel ratio were amazing, charge is excellent, balance and weight on the 80v spectacular for both tools I own, and dont have fast charger. Mainly because I can trim one day and mow a day or two after or via versa. I still like a little manual labor at my own home, so I took the trimmer apart and wound the line. After break in, I'll try the normal way. I have ran gas and 2 cycle my whole life, 40 yrs of I cant hear anything and my arm shaking after weed eating for hrs. With this trimmer and mower I've mowed and trimmed after midnight. Love a full and blue moon. Lol no cops no neighbors walking out. I'm just now in the electrics and I'm loving learning about and the benefits. I would rather charge a bit and work, then breath in toxic fumes, and I cant hear anything or feel my limbs for a few hrs, have to run for gas and oil and the sound of gas and 2cycle. Just wanted to put my my 2 cents in. I cant wait for break in reviews. I need that shit. Like dew point, humidity, storage, like time of components and such. Only complaint a switch for led on trimmer and mower. Also spike wheels for mower maybe a seeder attachment that can connect to wheel axle and a plastice edger connect for eater. My l.e.d hat light works great though. Thanks and later

      I have 4 of the 40V Atlas yard tools. I only like them - because I just inherited the house and there’s no power there.😅 But, seriously, I haven’t used anything else. I keep batteries and chargers for Atlas, Bauer and Warrior, in one of those heavy duty cases from HF and charge them at my apartment or work.
      I just restrung the trimmer, for the first time, today. Yes, I had to watch 2+ videos to get that right as the instructions suck.
      But, so far, I’m satisfied as, I keep the lawn because I have to and not as a hobby. I do like that auto kid for the EGO. But, not a deal breaker for me. I love no cords and no gas. Can’t work at night because of no mains power. But also because of noise ordinances. I hope to never need the lawn mower as, I hope to replace with ground cover.

    After using the Atlas 80V trimmer, I can tell you that I am very happy with the performance. With that stated, the line feeder is a pain the the ass. At first it is ok, but over time it does not align the strings as it should to only break or get stuck in the feeder. I spent and lost at least 2 hours trying to figure out what I was doing or what was wrong with feeder....at the end, that is it's weakest area. Luckily I finished my yard , I am going to take it back and either get one that is fresh and the feeder is not used to hope they can fix the feeder issue.
    I was trying to add the Echo Speed Feed 400 to it, but it will need some modification to be able to attach it. Harbor Frieght needs fix that feeder then they would have an excellent trimmer.

      Adding line... just have to learn what the tool wants. It was a pain for me too until I learned the trick. Turn it and push down or whatever you gotta do till you can see through the holes then feed the line through. Don't be afraid to pop off the top and take out remaining short line before installing the new line. I'm using some really thick line and it works just fine

Was in the market for a cordless limbing saw and bought the Atlas version along with the 40/80 volt battery and charger from harbour freight. Absolutely love it! Battery time is the most I've ever gotten on a cordless yard tool. After pricing new EGo battery, Ive decided to replace my weed eater with the Atlas version. So I have an update that I'd like to share concerning the Ego ST1521S. After watching this video, I was amp'd!! I cruised the ole Ranger straight over to Home D' and purchased this puppy. Assembly started simple with a single screw for the mid-shaft region, and grew to being increasingly annoying when attaching the front-assist handle assembly (I did not like this). I bypassed the guard and went straight for charging the battery for 1st time use, which only took 12 minutes to complete. Thereafter, I inserted the battery and went straight to the yard.
    The trimmer, as noted in Kite Army's video, has plenty of power with impressively smooth operation. My only gripe with this model is the beveled, bubbled, or rounded (whatever you'd like to call it) portion of the spool retainer assembly. While the loading mechanism is truly intuitive, its design really keeps you from getting that close, edging trim without awkwardly angling yourself to do so. You would've thought I was doing the funky fried chicken dance at first. This is my honest review.

    I think a better comparison to add is the other 40v ATLAS too. I've had the 40V model and upgraded my Stringer, Battery, and Charger to 80V model @ Harbor Freight and just paid the difference -- both with coupons. With the 80V model includes more lightweight metal than plastic, more weight from the battery.. so it balances out. You can mount the handle to where you feel comfortable for height. The 80V model runs the thicker neon orange line. I've done my home yard and a few landscaping projects with these.

    I spread the cost of 2 batteries and a quick charger among the multiple tools they work with.
    For instance, I bought the self powered lawnmower (love it) which requires 2 batteries, 80volt chainsaw, 80volt blower, pole saw as well as the 80volt weed whacker all from Atlas which use the same batteries. I swap them from one tool to the next.

    If you have a suburban plot of land (quarter acre) i recommend the greenworks 18" corded 10 amp trimmer, which delivers more than enough power than you'd ever need, and is currently selling on Amazon for $63. I changed the bump feed head, but that's about the only thing I've done to it since purchase

  • @atvappr
    @atvappr 4 года назад +1

    I purchased the the trimmer with the blower and 18" Chainsaw. Two batteries and rapid charger. First the blower is a beast, but does eat up one battery very fast if on turbo mode. The trimmer was a highlight for me. One battery was a good for my front yard and had plenty of power for bother vertical and horizontal trimming and edging. I do not think I could use my gas trimmer again for my yard.
    The drawbacks are; the blower will use up battery juice if using turbo. The battery tends to die at the 1 green bar, not completely die and no green bars. The trimmer head for changing adding string is a ball buster and if you add to much string, the inertia can bind the string due to stress and heat in the head and string breaks. Plus the turning part due to the groves in the plastic can cut into your skin an won't know that a chunk of your finger skin has been cut and bleeding. If they need to work on anything, it would be the battery life or technology.
    I am going to experiment to see if the echo universal string head can be added to the trimmer? If it can, then I believe you have a good setup.
    Have not tried the chainsaw yes, but looks promising.

      @@Kitearmy I like the good stuff for tools like Milwaukee, Mikita, Ridgid, etc, when comparing all these brands with their own chargers and batteries, they were much more expensive when combed.
      For the trimmer, I wanted it to go clockwise, and Atlas trimmer does that. The blower was an impulse decision and do not regret it. Because I can use when cleaning out my flip homes and plus it seems almost similar or equal in price to the brand name ones.
      When comparing chainsaws, I like the 18inch bar and the other brands were mostly 16 or 14 inch for the same price. Plus I saw some review videos and was impress.
      Plus, I wanted to keep the garden equipment separate from my tool setup and batteries.

Every now and then it would feed out line. After awhile I would just bump it harder which broke the head on 2 separate occasions and the last time it just jammed itself in the housing and I can’t remove the head and the motor won’t turn. I never ever had anything that powerful and that great with only con being short life of 2.5 battery that came with it. I got it as Refurb from HomeDepot when on sale for $100 so a REALLY great buy too.
    Next to do good with battery, when I saw the second time sale on EGO, got another blower and a Trimer (Exact model you show here), just to for the sake of free Battery and charger that comes with them, again each of these (Refurbished model on sale) form HD was $100 (Not bare tool but complete kit). So now I have three batteries that I guess I still paid less compared to buying a single 5 Amp battery! But I got two additional tools and two additional chargers for free (Can't say I always hate HD anymore!).
    I must add by far that EGO trimmer is the BEST out there. Not only for the sake of fast feeder as you show here that is powered and hassle-free but for the EXCELLENT quality of the tool and work it produce. I got the same Carbon fiber one and really really LOVE IT.
    Long story short: You 're my hero and thanks for your excellent prior recommendations that made my life a lot easier. Words won't do them justice to say how thankful I'm with your good reviews and recommendations and TG I followed your advice.
    Love your video clips that have the BEST UNBIASSED recommendation and hope a lot more people realize and utilize this opportunity. Keep up the excellent work.

    I have the atlas mower and chain saw. My batteries charge in 65 minutes. The build quality on both those tools is solid in comparison to Kobalt and Dewalt. I have two batteries and will not need more. If I had the string trimmer I could easily mow my lawn, weed eat and blow with those. There is no need to buy a battery with each tool. Also I am looking at an ego 56v trimmer with battery and charger (not rapid charger) for $219.99. You are comparing the to the atlas 80v. The atlas 40v with battery and charger is $164.97 which is at least closer in specs. Apples and oranges my man. Apples and oranges.

    I just bought the ATLAS yesterday. Its still in its box. I checked out the EGO, its now at about $299. I got the ATLAS trimmer/charger/battery as well as trimmer line and warranties on everything for $298 after taxes. How does the price change on the EGO affect your opinion of one vs the other? And considering one has a warranty for sure, while Amazon said to reach out to the dealer directly to find out about any possible warrantees (which I did not), how would that affect your review? I saw your review after buying the ATLAS, and when you said $229, I considered returning it, but now that the price point is just about the same, it seems like I'd just be doing it for weight balance (which I don't care about) and auto string load (which is pretty sweet). 🤙

    I think for $120 for a home user that's going for the 80v vs gas it is cheaper in the long run vs say a gas Stihl or some other brands for $200. I know you going to say oh the battery. Well oh the gas and oil of the next 2 years 😳 1 time and you don't have to deal with gas going bad my Echo has had its ray of problems so I'm going with the ATLAS 80v as I've bought the 80v saw and ended up getting 2 batteries and have both the high speed charger that takes about an hour for full charging vs the other that takes hours. I didn't know about the high speed charger and I couldn't find my recipe then I decided just to keep it never know so 2 batteries. Might as well stick with it and try out the rest of there 80v and maybe some 40v stuff because the saw is a beast

      I looked at other stuff and I really didn't plan on buying a battery powered chainsaw. I was looking for a good chainsaw saw as I had around 17 trees to cut down in my yard. I happened to sew a lot of videos on the ATLAS and I wasn't there to buy a saw. I just happened to see it was on sale so thought I would try it. The thing that sold me was I hate dealing with mixing gad now days and the gas doesn't hold up it you don't use it before long. I'm sure that most brands now are close to the same when it comes to the users who are experienced with that form of tool. Like the saw I handed it to a friend who dose tree work for a living and he loved it and had showed it off to others who wanted one after seeing how well it works. The battery is where they get you so because I decided to get 2 batteries I feel I might as well get the 80v trimmer. I don't think the blowers are a good idea for batteries at this time. I may had to EGO had I seen more reviews on it in real world use but it's to late now not buying more batteries and tools. It would be nice if they all worked on each other because some tools are better

    Yeah...and after that head gets all gummed up with grass juices and then dries...no thanks :( Speaking of dried grass juice, how does the EGO trimmer fare in those dirty conditions with loading string? Had to ask... Cheers, John ;)

    The worst thing is about atlas is 90 days battery warranty. Green works give 5-8 years if you buy from Costco. Ego is 3-5 years . I have 5 atlas battery - 2 aare not working with in few months and nothing can be done with them total loss

  • @mkuhlman77
    @mkuhlman77 4 года назад

    Compare price without buying charger and battery. Because you only need one to power all the atlas tools. I know we all have multiple batteries. But harbor frieght also has a good better best system. Atlas falls in the better and best because of its 40 and 80v system. Honestly it's all personal preference. Tool is only as good as the owner.

      Jeff Hanna if it was $125 Lowe it would be a real contender. Though I don’t blink globe wants to cannabilize their other products. Will be interesting to see if they Lower price.

    • @PurdueJHanna
      @PurdueJHanna 4 года назад

      @@Kitearmy Indeed. I'm interested in how much control HF has over the pricing - which I think is quite a lot. From what I understand Globe is under contract to HF to build to HF's design, not fronting their brand in HF stores. For instance the Atlas 40/80v mowers are Greenworks mowers (by design cue) but re-engineered to support both 40v and 80v. Whereas the GW models only support 40v. That's an Atlas and HF feature, not something rolling out on GW mowers.
